Press Release: Nashville, TN (June 1, 2002)​

Jerry Jarrett, CEO of J Sports & Entertainment, commented today on the announcement of the launch of the new weekly NWA: Total Nonstop Action wrestling series, and talked about the importance of the NWA name being attached to the show.

“We’re thrilled to be using the NWA name for our program,” said Jarrett. “The National Wrestling Alliance has a long and prestigious history and was at one time the dominant name in the professional wrestling industry. We believe it’s important for our company to be affiliated with a name that fans will recognize and we believe the NWA name is a familiar one to most fans of professional wrestling.”

NWA President Jim Miller was equally excited, saying, “This is a win-win for everybody involved. I’m very excited about the prospects of working with J Sports & Entertainment to make NWA: Total Nonstop Action a tremendous success. The pay-per-view broadcasts will expose the NWA to fans in a way that hasn’t been possible before and the opportunities for our member organizations will be better than ever.”

J Sports President Jeff Jarrett added, “The NWA name is the foundation that sports entertainment was built on. We plan to build on that foundation with the cutting edge characters and revolutionary concepts expected by today’s wrestling audience. Total Nonstop Action will be more than the name of the show, it’s what we want our fans to think of every time they watch our program.”

NWA: Total Nonstop Action will broadcast every Wednesday night at 8pm Eastern and will be available on cable and satellite at a suggested retail price of $9.95.

BT NOTE: I am challenging myself to stick to the TNA schedule in 2002, and post a weekly show every Wednesday up through December, starting on June 19. I will be following the TNA schedule of 2002, which means a few random breaks in between. There will be two more posts leading up to June 19 with some other tidbits of info, but I really just wanted to post this page as something that will hopefully become "the hub" filled with archived shows and title histories.

In terms of the roster, I am giving myself a bit of creative freedom since the talent was so thin and the company virtually went under until they were bailed out by Dixie in the late summer of 02.

Plus, the first year had Vince Russo’s prints all over them, which is something I am veering away from. No, I don’t plan on randomly bringing The Undertaker or Triple H into this world, but after months (years) of research I’ve found a few interesting guys to throw into the mix. Some guys who came around in 2003 (almost the entire wrestling world was on a TNA show at some point between 02-06) will start off signed to TNA, or debut shortly after the first PPV…

I am hoping to make it pretty far as I have a lot of ideas, and for the first time in a very long time, I’m motivated to write. Also, this TNA idea has been floating around my head/computer for at least the last five years. So, enough with the BT note- Scroll for the results, stay for the graphics, but most of all, enjoy reading!

I'm always excited anytime I see a BT project come about but starting a company from the beginning (...no cheap plugs here...) is always so interesting because you have a bit of a blank canvas to work with and can take it any direction you want. Press Release: Nashville, TN (June 5, 2002)

NWA:TNA TAPS LEGEND TO SERVE AS PRESIDENT

In what is to be considered a monumental day for the upstart NWA: Total Nonstop Action company, Jerry Jarrett announced a blockbuster hiring for the official NWA: TNA President in long-time legend JAMES E. CORNETTE! Cornette, a fixture in wrestling for over three decades, had spent the past few years in WWE’s feeder-system program OVW.

“I have a great deal of respect for Jim Cornette, and when the two sides started dialogue, I figured it was a pipe dream that we could land him. Following talks that lasted for several weeks, Jim decided to jump on board and we are very happy to have him. He will be a crucial piece of our day-to-day operations, and will help immensely in a multitude of areas." Jerry Jarrett, CEO of J Sports & Entertainment said in a press release.

The idea of bringing in Jim Cornette was considered too far outside of NWA: TNA’s radar, solely because Cornette was a part-owner of OVW. Sources say Cornette was officially bought out from his share of OVW in mid-May, signaling a departure in the near future.

“It is a great honor that NWA: TNA and the Jarrett’s had enough faith in me to bring me along for this exciting journey. I am looking forward to working as the NWA: TNA President, and plan on helping out in a plethora of roles. We have some big things lined up for NWA: TNA, and I look forward to bringing an alternative to the millions of professional wrestling homes.” Cornette said.

NWA: Total Nonstop Action is set to debut in TWO WEEKS time, on June 19, 2002 from The Nashville Fairgrounds. It will be broadcasted at 8pm Eastern and will be available on cable and satellite at a suggested retail price of $9.95.

Preview looks the goods here, can't wait to read the first show really. Haven't been this excited for a new BTB in awhile.

Considering this is the first show, if I was a fan reading this preview, I'd be wondering what the hell is the X Division lol. But Lynn getting a nice win here and an AJ/Ki showcase should be a fine way to put the division on the map.

I'm not sure York and Matthews "tore" through ECW lol, but they are a good team so I'm sure their match with AMW will be good.

I like the fact you're putting your own touch on things immediately, by changing how the first champion will be crowned. Some matches here that I'm excited for because I didn't expect to see them (Shamrock/Funk and Ekmo/Sabu).

I'm unsure who you will actually put over here as first champ, but if it's Mike Awesome or even WWE Heat color commentator extraordinaire D'Lo Brown, I'll love you forever.

Really looking forward to the first show mate, and just because it's my first post in here, good luck for this BTB. Not that you need it.

9:00PM hits on the Eastern seaboard as the screen dims, before vibrant red, gold and black strokes fill the shot. The TNA logo pops up before we fade inside The Nashville Fairgrounds- which when taken over by Total Nonstop Action will be known as THE ASYLUM!

The camera pans around The Asylum- which holds roughly a thousand rabid fans shouting “TNA!” at the top of their lungs! Up on the entrance ramp on each side are two cages, with two beautiful women in each cage dancing! The TNA Girls, as they are formally known as…

The camera then shifts over right next to the announcer’s table to show the highly-coveted NWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP! The NWA Championship sits in a case on a black pedestal near the commentary desk! This is what TNA is all about! It’s about girls dancing in cages, half of the crowd sporting Michael Vick and Steve McNair jerseys, frosted tips, lugging around the indestructible brick Nokia cell phone, waiting for an alternative to whatever WWE is putting out right now!

This is 2002! THIS IS A BRAND NEW WORLD!!! This is TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION!

We are greeted by our official announce team of “Professor” Mike Tenay and a man who could sell ice to an eskimo- Don West! The dynamic duo welcomes us to the first of MANY weekly PPV’s here in TNA! They run down tonight’s STACKED card as they can’t control their excitement! Almost a year of hard work and planning has gone into the creation of Total Nonstop Action, and tonight the finished product is ready to be shown to the world!

After running down the card, West and Tenay tell us that the inaugural TNA match will feature two men from the highly anticipated and exciting X DIVISION! They explain the X Division to us all- it is a division that has no weight limit, is filled with crazy high spots you’ve never seen before, and a frantic pace that most cannot keep up with! Think of the X Games but in wrestling on steroids!

Match 1- X-Division Showcase
AJ Styles vs. Low Ki

AJ Styles and Low Ki are about to make history right now, and both will forever be known as the answer to the trivia question- “What was the first ever match in TNA history?”

The two young blue-chippers start off with a torrid pace, with neither man gaining the upper hand! Styles off the ropes and Ki goes for a hip toss, but Styles blocks it and goes for a hip toss of his own, but Low Ki flips out of it…AND NEARLY TAKES AJ STYLES’ HEAD OFF WITH A SIDE KICK!!

Low Ki tosses Styles into the corner, then races back to the opposite side….runs full speed ahead with a cartwheel into a springboard INTO A FLYING FOREARM IN THE CORNER!!!

Low Ki is on fire as The Asylum is in awe at the action inside the ring! Low Ki tosses Styles out of the corner and heads to the top turnbuckle, but his offense is thwarted WHEN AJ STYLES IS BACK UP ON HIS FEET! AJ easily leaps from the ring to the top turnbuckle, bounces once…

AJ STYLES CONNECTS WITH A TOP ROPE HURICANRANNA!!!

HOLY SHIT!

West and Tenay are beside themselves as AJ looks to put Low Ki away…LOW KI KICKS OUT AT 2!!!

Styles picks Low Ki up and tosses him off the ropes, and connects with a beautiful dropkick! Low Ki is down as AJ heads to the top turnbuckle…and delivers a move that nobody has ever seen before!!

STYLES HITS A DIVING TWISTING FLIP that Professor Tenay is all over as he tells us AJ Styles calls that THE SPIRAL TAP!!!!

1…2…NOOO!!!

Low Ki kicks out! Styles doesn’t know what else to do. He kicks Low Ki for good measure, but Low Ki grabs the leg of Styles…AND PUTS HIM IN A LEG BAR!!! Styles writhes in pain as Low Ki cranks back on the leg of AJ Styles!

Eventually, Styles makes it to the ropes, but the damage has been done! Low Ki sets AJ up on the top turnbuckle as he heads up there with him. Low Ki looks for his own top rope huricanranna…BUT AJ STYLES CATCHES HIM IN MID AIR!!!

Is he going for a powerbomb? HELL NO! Styles is somehow able to place Low Ki’s arms behind his legs…

AJ STYLES LEAPS OFF THE TOP TURNBUCKLE…WITH A TOP ROPE STYLES CLASH!!!!!!!!

The Asylum is on their feet for what we have just witnessed! West and Tenay hype up the X-Division action we all just watched, and say there is PLENTLY more of that to come!

As West and Tenay hype up the X-Division, the camera pans back over to the NWA World title. Ring announcer Jeremy Borash then welcomes out THE TNA PRESIDENT- JIM CORNETTE!!!

The Asylum cheers for Cornette as he smiles and waves before heading down to ringside. He picks up the NWA title before being handed a mic. Cornette enters the ring and begins to speak…

“Thank you all for coming out to see what will be come THE BEST wrestling on the planet! Welcome to TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION!”

The Asylum cheers as Cornette continues…

“Tonight, we embark on the journey to crown the first NWA champion in TNA! Eight men, four matches! And this is why I am out here tonight. It was announced last week but I’m out here to scream it to the rafters here in The Asylum- the WINNERS of the four matches tonight…WILL COMPETE FOR THE NWA CHAMPIONSHIP…NEXT WEEK…IN A FOUR-WAY STEEL CAGE MATCH!!!”

The Asylum roars at the announcement! Cornette drops the mic as West and Tenay hype up our NWA Championship Tournament, which if you missed it, features the following matches…TONIGHT!!

Following the recap of our HUGE NWA CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT set to kick off tonight, we are back down to ringside for some TAG TEAM ACTION!!

Match 2- Tag Team Match
Christian York & Joey Matthews vs. Chris Harris & James Storm

York and Matthews have been around the block, as they were a staple of ECW at the end. Harris and Storm have actually never teamed up before until right now, with both men working as singles wrestlers for Bert Prentice around the Southern states!

York and Matthews begin to the match taking it to the young team of Harris and Storm! De facto veterans for the match, York and Matthews cut the ring in half on James Storm, connecting with double team moves such as a dropkick/neckbreaker combo and big splashes in the corner!!

Chris Harris stomps on the apron as he wills his partner to make the hot tag, as The Asylum gets behind him! Storm muscles out of a suplex attempt and hits a German Suplex on Matthews, before crawling over to MAKE THE HOT TAG!!

Chris Harris is in and cleans house! Clotheslines, dropkicks, and a flying cross body do the damage for Harris! He calls over to Storm as the two size Matthews up in the center of the ring…AND HIT HIM WITH STEREO SUPERKICKS!

Matthews is right back up as Harris tosses him off the ropes, hits a drop toe hold…and Storm crashes down with a leg drop!!

Professor Tenay hypes up the teamwork from Harris and Storm! For two guys that have never teamed together, they look like naturals right now!!

Storm hits a forearm smash on York which knocks him off the apron and to the floor! Storm and Harris then begin to shout to each other as Storm points for Harris to go to the top rope!

Storm holds Matthews in a seated position while Harris leaps off the top rope…

HARRIS CONNECTS WITH A TOP ROPE LEGDROP!!!

Goldy is standing by with The Hardcore Legend- Terry Funk! Goldy asks Funk his thoughts on his NWA Title Tournament Match- NEXT against Ken Shamrock!

“Well, Goldy, I like to consider myself still fit enough to make a splash. I’m still hitting the gym, getting my cardio in. At one time long, long ago, the same NWA Championship I’m about to compete for, it never left my side. So, I know what it takes to be the king. This time around is no different than the Seventies. TNA is gonna be something special, and I plan on being a big part of it…”

WHACK!!!!

WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?

STEVE CORINO BLINDSIDES TERRY FUNK WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!

Corino stomps on Funk before taking the mic, beginning to walk through the backstage area, through gorilla, AND OUT ONTO THE ENTRANCE RAMP!!

“You know, when I heard about the matches announced for the NWA Title Tournament, and I didn’t see my name, I thought- alright, not a big deal, there are some big names in it….BUT TERRY FUNK?!?? COME ON!”

Corino continues to walk down to the ring as The Asylum let their hatred for Corino rain down…

“What is this? 1979? This is supposed to be a NEW ERA OF WRESTLING here in TNA! So, why are we living in the past? Why even give that old bastard a spot on the TNA roster?”

Corino climbs into the ring…

“That all changes right NOW! Since Terry Funk is no longer able to compete…I…STEVE CORINO…WILL BE TAKING HIS SPOT! Come on out here Ken Shamrock and take your ass whooping like a MAN!”

Ken Shamrock emerges from the back, walking with a purpose down to the ring! The Asylum cheers Shamrock, knowing full well The Most Dangerous Man in America has come to lay claim to the NWA title!

Match 3- NWA Championship Tournament Match
Ken Shamrock vs. Steve Corino

Shamrock wastes zero time getting this one going as he immediately shoots at Corino’s legs just as the bell rings! Shamrock with a ground and pound attack on Corino, to the point where Corino has no choice but to retreat to the outside!

Shamrock lets out an animalistic roar as The Asylum is on their feet for him! Corino signals for a “TIMEOUT” at ringside, but Shamrock isn’t having any of it as he heads to the outside and slams Corino with a forearm smash to the back! Shamrock whips Corino into the steel guard rail for good measure!

The match progresses back inside the ring, where Corino calls in a favor in the form of JACK VICTORY who sprints down the entrance ramp with his crutch in hand! Corino’s old pal from ECW is here and while Corino distracts the referee…

JACK VICTORY CLUBS KEN SHAMROCK OVER THE BACK OF THE HEAD WITH HIS CRUTCH!

Corino looks down at the fallen Ken Shamrock as he licks his chops…calling his spot…preparing to connect with his finishing move- THE NORTHERN LIGHTS BOMB!

BUT WAIT!!!

The Asylum is on their feet, and Corino is smart enough to know it is certainly not for him…

TERRY FUNK IS OUT, WIELDING HIS BRANDING IRON RECKLESSLY THROUGH THE AIR!!!

Funk whacks Jack Victory with the branding iron in the entrance way!

Corino shifts his attention to Terry Funk who climbs up on the apron and takes a wild swing but misses…

BUT THE DISTRACTION IS ENOUGH FOR KEN SHAMROCK TO GRAB CORINO…

SNAP DRAGON SUPLEX!!!

Shamrock seamlessly transitions over to Corino’s legs…

WHERE HE APPLIES THE ANKLE LOCK!!!!

Corino writhes in pain…AND HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO SUBMIT!!!

Ken Shamrock has punched his ticket to next week’s NWA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH- INSIDE A STEEL CAGE!!!

Shamrock heads up the aisle way as Terry Funk quickly enters the ring, still swinging his branding iron!! Jack Victory has recovered from before and shields Corino as he pulls him out of the ring to safety!

Funk immediately leaves the ring and follows Corino and Victory up the entrance ramp, while Corino and Victory book it through the curtain! Funk stops his chase and stands tall at the top of the ramp, holding his branding iron high above his head, much to the delight of The Asylum who give him a thunderous ovation!!

West and Tenay hype up Ken Shamrock advancing to the NWA Championship next week, while saying that Steve Corino may have made the worst enemy of his career in Terry Funk!!

We cut to a vignette. It is a cloudy day, ominous clouds off in the distance. We are in some sort of deserted town, where the streets are desolate…wind sways the big oak trees back and forth. We zoom in to see a peculiar man, dressed in an all-red suit, sitting on a park bench. He is the only person in the shot…

The camera zooms in to show it is none other than FATHER JAMES MITCHELL! Mitchell sits on the park bench, looking off into the distance. He holds his snake-head cane with both hands as he lets out a big sigh and mischievous grin…

“Another new wrestling company. Same old faces. Nobody learns their lesson…”

Mitchell shakes his head in disgust as he continues…

“For centuries, the saying goes- to the victor goes the spoils…Well, I plan on winning…and TAKING EVERYTHING WITH ME! You see, the power lies in the man who controls the strings…not the man on the strings…and trust me…TNA…I will be the ultimate puppet master!”

Mitchell lets out a loud maniacal laugh as thunder claps off in the distance, while lightning illuminates the sky…

“TNA…THE ARRIVAL OF DOOMSDAY IS IMMINENT! AHAHAHA!”

Another clap of loud thunder brings us to complete static before we cut back to inside The Asylum…

West and Tenay talk about Father James Mitchell and his cryptic message about bringing DOOMSDAY to TNA! They then shift focus as they hype up the X-Division some more, as we get ready for our next X-Division Showcase!!

Match 4- X-Division Showcase
Jerry Lynn vs. EZ Money

Jerry Lynn is a veteran who is looking to stand out in TNA, while EZ Money is young, upstart wrestler who has tons of talent and a very innovative offense. Money wrestled for ECW and WCW at the end.

Lynn and Money start off with a very quick pace, with EZ Money looking to see if Lynn can still match him stride-for-stride…and Jerry Lynn most definitely can! Money tosses Lynn off the ropes and goes for a flying back elbow but Lynn catches him…AND DUMPS HIM OUTSIDE TO THE FLOOR!!

Lynn heads to the top turnbuckle where he sizes up Money on the outside…

JERRY LYNN FLIES THROUGH THE AIR WITH A DIVING CROSS BODY!!!

The Asylum is behind Jerry Lynn as he continues his offense on EZ Money. Lynn slides Money inside the ring before connecting with a slingshot legdrop for a 2 count!

The match progresses as Money gains his comeuppance, connecting with a TORNADO DDT!! Lynn kicks out, Money stays on the attack as he places Lynn on the top turnbuckle and follows suit. Money goes for a SUPERPLEX but Lynn blocks it, lifts Money up…

LYNN HITS AN INVERTED BRAINBUSTER OFF THE TOP ROPE!!!

The Asylum LOVES the move as does West and Tenay! Lynn has EZ Money right where he wants him…

CRADLE PILEDRIVER!!!

Lynn gets his hand raised as he soaks in the cheers from The Asylum! West and Tenay put over Jerry Lynn before hyping up the X-Division some more, because in case you didn’t know already- THE X DIVISION IS THE CRAZIEST WRESTLING YOU WILL EVER SEE!!

West and Tenay shift focus as they talk about the next matchup on this inaugural TNA PPV- another NWA Championship Tournament Match, featuring EKMO and SABU!

Before our commentary team can get another word out, they are interrupted…

BY DON CALLIS!!!

Callis heads out with a mic in hand, clipboard in the other, and not only does The Asylum immediately recognize him, they immediately begin to boo him!

“Alright, alright. Calm down. I know it’s a lot for a crowd of your intellect to understand the words coming out of my mouth, but much like all of you who sit home all day collecting a check from the state…I, too, need a job. Which is why I am out here right now…”

Callis heads down the entrance ramp as The Asylum continues to boo him…

“Which is why I will be watching this next match, as I have my eye on a few key guys in this NWA Championship Tournament!”

Callis puts down the mic, pulls up a chair near West and Tenay, and begins writing notes down on his clipboard…

Match 5- NWA Championship Tournament Match
Sabu vs. Ekmo

Ekmo comes from the prestigious Samoan Wrestling Family, while Sabu needs no backstory. He is the enigma in the world of wrestling, he stands out like nobody else before him, and is a certified living legend…

Sabu heads out first, with his trusty steel chair in tow. Ekmo is out next, and just as the big Samoan enters the ring…

SABU LEAPS FROM THE TOP TURNBUCKLE, DROPKICKING THE CHAIR RIGHT INTO EKMO’S FACE!!!

The Asylum is on their feet as Sabu strikes first, before the bell even rings! Sabu continues his offense as he hits a springboard leg drop on the fallen Ekmo! Sabu heads to the outside where he sets up a table! Sabu rolls back in and stomps on Ekmo some more until Ekmo is able to get to his feet…

WHEN SABU THROWS THE CHAIR FULL SPEED, HITTING EKMO IN THE HEAD!!

Ekmo rolls out of the ring, but Sabu isn’t ready to slow things down! Sabu sets up his chair, gets a running head start…

Ekmo is right back to his feet as he tosses Sabu into the steel ring post! Ekmo sizes up Sabu and drills him with a SAVATE KICK!!!

Ekmo rolls Sabu inside the ring as he follows behind. The seated chair is still in the center of the ring. Ekmo sends Sabu off the ropes, tosses him onto the back of his massive shoulders…

SAMOAN DROP ONTO THE OPEN CHAIR!!!

Ekmo has Sabu right where he wants him as Sabu writes in pain! Ekmo tosses Sabu over to the corner then places the badly bent steel chair in front of Sabu’s face! Ekmo then heads over to the opposite corner and runs full speed ahead…

AND CHARGES INTO SABU AND THE CHAIR IN THE CORNER!!!

Ekmo drags Sabu by the hair and sets him in the middle of the ring before placing the steel chair on top of him. Ekmo then leaps from the bottom turnbuckle to the top turnbuckle, and in one fell swoop…

CONNECTS WITH A MOONSAULT ONTO SABU AND THE CHAIR!!!

Ekmo is in pain but makes the cover!!!

The Asylum is on their feet for Ekmo, who is EXTREMELY OVER with them! West and Tenay hype up the physical specimen of Ekmo, as a man his height and weight shouldn’t be able to land a Moonsault so gracefully!

The camera pans over to Don Callis, who continues to write on his clipboard. He is very impressed, and as Ekmo is walking up the entrance ramp, he stops Ekmo. He shakes his hand, introducing himself. Ekmo refuses to let go of Callis’ hand after the shake, and tells Callis to “FUCK OFF!” before faking a punch!

Callis flinches before gathering himself, as he quickly heads in the opposite direction of Ekmo! Ekmo looks out at The Asylum as they give him another round of applause!

West and Tenay continue to hype up Ekmo, as he ADVANCES to the NWA Championship NEXT WEEK! Thus far, Ken Shamrock and Ekmo have advanced, with two matches left tonight for the final two spots!

After West and Tenay begin talking about how much more we have in store tonight…We cut right back inside the ring there is commotion, only for the camera to pan to SHANE DOUGLAS sitting ON A STEEL CHAIR in the middle of the ring! “The Franchise” has a mic in hand as The Asylum begins to boo…

“You know, I was probably one of the first guys called to join TNA! I thought, why not? It couldn’t be any worse than the last place we were all at! Well, paint me shocked when I looked at the card tonight, and didn’t see Shane Douglas anywhere on it!”

Douglas shakes his head in disgust as he continues…

“The disrespect I have been given for so many years eventually takes its toll…So, I figured, why shouldn’t come out here and speak my mind? I’m known around these parts with this particular title do such things…Air my grievances early, so MAYBE someone in the back would hear me, and give me what I deserve…AND THAT IS SOME DAMN RESPECT FOR THE FRANCHISE SHANE DOUGLAS!”

Before Shane Douglas can continue his rant…

MONTY BROWN emerges from the back!!! We know this because Professor Tenay is all over it! Monty Brown is an ex-NFL player who has decided to make TNA his home…and what a debut he is about to have!!

“Can I help you?”

Douglas shouts out…Nobody knows who Monty Brown is, but this guy is built like a brick shithouse and immediately catches the eye of The Asylum as he heads down to the ring with a purpose…

Douglas stands up from his chair as Monty Brown enters the ring…

Monty Brown takes the mic from Shane Douglas, looks around the arena and begins to smirk. He looks back at Shane Douglas before shouting out…

“POOOUNNNCEEE!!!”

Monty Brown drops the mic…

HE CHARGES FULL SPEED AHEAD LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN TOWARDS SHANE DOUGLAS…

AND MONTY BROWN SHOULDER BLOCKS DOUGLAS OVER THE ROPES AND TO THE FLOOR!!

Shane Douglas hits the ringside floor like a ton of bricks as Monty Brown soaks in the loud pop from The Asylum!!!

Shane Douglas came out to air his grievances, and just got POUNCED for his troubles!!!

West and Tenay talk about Monty Brown, as Professor Tenay tells us that the move we all just witnessed is called THE POUNCE and Monty Brown uses it as his finisher! Douglas lies in pain on the outside floor, licking his wounds, as Brown gives high fives all around ringside…

Goldilocks is standing by with Mike Awesome! She asks Mike Awesome his thoughts on his match just SECONDS AWAY against D’Lo Brown in a NWA Title Tournament!

“I’ve traveled the world, been at the top, got tossed to the bottom…and now I find myself here in TNA with a golden opportunity…”

The camera zooms in on the massive Mike Awesome…

“D’Lo Brown…I have nothing against you…so don’t take it personally when I Awesome Bomb you so hard you end up back in Connecticut!”

Mike Awesome flexes for the camera and as we are about to head back down to ringside, where West and Tenay hype up our next matchup, Don Callis shoots into our frame, offering a hand to Mike Awesome who looks down at Callis…

“Mike Awesome, I’m a huge fan. I was just wondering…”

Awesome lets out a small smirk before he grabs Callis’ hand with all of his might! Callis lets out a little yelp before he falls to his knees…

“Take that act somewhere else Don Callis…You know I can’t be bought…”

Awesome replies, as he finally releases the firm grip he has on Don Callis’ hand. Awesome walks off as Callis dusts himself off and looks at Goldilocks, who doesn’t know what to think, before he stands up and walks off…

Match 6- NWA Championship Tournament Match
Mike Awesome vs. D’Lo Brown

D’Lo takes it to Mike Awesome right away, hammering with lefts and rights until he backs the big man into the corner…where Awesome winds back…

AND CONNECTS WITH A BIG BOOT THAT KNOCKS D’LO BROWN BACK TO THE CENTER OF THE RING!!

D’Lo shakes the cobwebs and before he can even react, Awesome is full speed ahead with a SHOULDER BLOCK!!

D’Lo ends up in the opposite corner where Awesome puts the boots to him. Awesome slides outside of the ring and grabs a hold of D’Lo from in between the ropes and begins to rear back, slamming D’Lo’s head repeatedly into the turnbuckles!!

Awesome then whips out A TABLE! He slides it inside the ring before following up with it. D’Lo is waiting with a kick to the gut, then a bounce off the ropes and a NECKBREAKER!! D’Lo goes for a cover but Awesome KICKS OUT AT ONE!!!

The move didn’t hurt Awesome, and if anything, just pissed him off! He yells in the face of D’Lo Brown as The Asylum gets behind the 6 foot 6 wrecking machine! D’Lo goes for a shoulder block but doesn’t budge Awesome. He goes for another one. Nothing! Once more, but Awesome is waiting, lifts D’Lo up in the air and connects with A HUGE BACK BODY DROP!!!

Awesome then sets the table up, lugs D’Lo over to the top turnbuckle….lifts him up….The Asylum is on their feet….

AWESOME BOMB THROUGH THE TABLE!!!

Awesome hooks the leg of D’Lo…

The Asylum LOVES Mike Awesome as they give him a thunderous ovation! West and Tenay hype up the athletic big man and say the NWA Title Match next week just got a lot more interesting! So far, it is Ken Shamrock, Ekmo and now Mike Awesome with one spot left- either Jeff Jarrett or Ron Killings!!

Goldilocks is standing by with Jeff Jarrett! Jarrett holds his guitar in his hand and shakes his head, clearly frustrated about something. He cuts off Goldy and begins to give us all a piece of his mind!

“I still am trying to wrap my head around the fact that I…Jeff Jarrett…the man who is related to the man that signs the checks around here…find myself having to QUALIFY for the NWA Championship next week?”

Jarrett shakes his head in frustration as he continues…

“I really hope Jim Cornette remembers who put him in a position of power! And don’t worry…if you think for one second that I-Jeff Jarrett- THE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN- don’t have a plan in place for tonight, then you just don’t know me at all. Not Cornette, not Ron Killings…NOBODY can stop me tonight! And you can ALL CHOKE ON THAT!”

Jarrett leaves in a heap as we send it back down to ringside for OUR MAIN EVENT of the inaugural PPV here in TNA!!

Match 7- NWA Championship Tournament Match
Jeff Jarrett vs. Ron Killings

Ron Killings has had a stay up north, and is looking to make a name for himself in TNA. Jeff Jarrett, well, you know all about him. The owner’s son, on a power trip, looking to cut corners to become the most powerful man in TNA and NWA World Champion simultaneously…

Killings starts out the match at a fast pace in an attempt to wear down Jarrett. Killings hits a corkscrew dropkick followed by a roundhouse kick! Jarrett falls to the outside and calls for a “Timeout” but referee Slick Johnson still counts!

Jarrett argues with the referee…LOOK OUT!!!

KILLINGS LEAPS OVER THE REFEREE WHILE GOING AIRBORNE ONTO JARRETT AT RINGSIDE!!!

Killings is in complete control as he tosses Jarrett hard into the steel guard rail! He takes Jarrett and slides him back inside the ring before climbing to the top rope. Killings sizes up Jarrett…

AND CONNECTS WITH A TOP ROPE LEG DROP ON JARRETT!!!

1…2…NOOO!!!

The Asylum, along with West and Tenay thought that was it! The Asylum is firmly behind Killings as he looks to put Jarrett away. Killings lunges at Jarrett, who at the last second grabs a hold of Referee Slick Johnson and uses him as a shield! Killings knocks the referee over as he is now OUT COLD after taking a hard spill to the outside!!

With no referee in sight, Jarrett begins to smirk!

There is commotion in the crowd as someone with a hooded sweatshirt races through the crowd, hops the barricade, and slides into the ring. This mysterious man takes off his hood…

IT’S ROADHOUSE JAMES!!!

Jeff Jarrett’s long time pal is here in TNA!! Jarrett is all smiles as James tosses Jarrett a pair of brass knuckles! Jarrett turns around AND DRILLS KILLINGS IN THE HEAD WITH THE BRASS KNUCKLES!!!

Roadhouse James picks up the referee and slides him inside the ring. Jarrett lifts up Killings…

JARRETT CONNECTS WITH THE STROKE FOR GOOD MEASURE!!!

Jarrett and Roadhouse James celebrate as The Asylum showers the ring with boos! The two old friends embrace, as a team of Medics comes down to check on the fallen Ron Killings!

West and Tenay say Jeff Jarrett may be in a different company, but is still up to his old tricks, and this is what he meant by saying he had a plan for tonight! Jarrett and James raise each others hands…only for the crowd to go wild!

WHY IS THE CROWD GOING WILD?!?!?

BECAUSE MIKE AWESOME, EKMO AND KEN SHAMROCK have emerged from the back, and all circle the ringside area!

JEFF JARRETT AND ROADHOUSE JAMES ARE BLOCKED FROM ALL EXITS! The crowd eats it up as Jarrett and James are surrounded! They look at each other in the ring, trying to figure out what move to make…

Just as the trio of Jarrett’s foes begin to hop onto the apron…

DON AND RON HARRIS run down the ramp to even up the odds!

OF COURSE THE HARRIS BROTHERS ARE HERE!!!!

These two behemoths have come to Jarrett’s rescue, as they must be getting paid handsomely to protect Jeff Jarrett!

Shamrock, Ekmo and Awesome begin throwing haymakers at The Harris Brothers at ringside, and this distracts Jarrett and James enough that Mike Awesome is able to head into the ring! Jarrett quickly hits the deck and rolls outside the ring, but Roadhouse James isn’t so lucky. He finds himself stuck in the ring with MIKE AWESOME!! James goes for a punch but Awesome blocks it and drills him with a BIG BOOT!! Awesome then lifts James up…

CHOKESLAM TO ROADHOUSE JAMES!!!

Down at ringside, The Harris Brothers and Jeff Jarrett are putting the boots to Shamrock and Ekmo!

Following the Chokeslam to James, Mike Awesome looks out at the sea of bodies at ringside. The Asylum is on their feet as they expect what is about to happen…

MIKE AWESOME FLIES THROUGH THE AIR WITH A MASSIVE DIVE ON TOP OF EVERYBODY AT RINGSIDE!

The Asylum EXPLODES for Mike Awesome, who is the only one left standing tall!! There are bodies everywhere at ringside, and West and Tenay hype up next week’s HUGE NWA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH- INSIDE A STEEL CAGE!!!

West and Tenay sign us off as the credits begin to roll, signaling the end of the first of MANY TNA PPV’S to grace your screen here in 2002!

Awesome stands tall as the camera pans out to show him looking out at the NWA Championship, sitting brightly on a black pedestal at ringside…For now, Mike Awesome is the last man standing, and we are all left wondering if this will be the scene at the end of next week’s show!!!

9:00PM hits on the Eastern seaboard as the screen dims, before vibrant yellow, gold, red and black strokes fill the shot. The TNA logo pops up before we fade inside what is now known as THE ASYLUM- where over a thousand rabid fans are on their feet, shouting “TNA! TNA!” at the top of their lungs!! It’s June of 2002 which means tonight, the great orator of our day Nelly couldn’t say it any better… IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERRE!!

The camera pans up into the rafters where a STEEL CAGE hangs in the balance! Could a steel cage actually hang from the ceiling of the Nashville Fairgrounds? Who knows? Probably not, but in this world, it hangs mightily above!

We then zoom over to the NWA Championship which is seated on a black pedestal near the commentary desk. Another quick shot of the TNA Girls dancing next to the entrance way, then some more Michael Vick and Steve McNair jerseys, plenty of frosted tips, and Nokia brick cell phones!

We are greeted by our team of Don West and “Professor” Mike Tenay! They run down tonight’s card and promise us ANOTHER INCREDIBLE week of TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION!! The NWA Championship up for grabs! X-Division aplenty! Tag Team action! THIS IS TNA!!

We stay at ringside for our opening match, an X-Division Showcase!

Match 1- X-Division Showcase
Amazing Red vs. Super Crazy

Amazing Red is a young up-and-comer from the Northeast, who uses his small size and speed to his advantage. Super Crazy is a household name stemming from his tenure in ECW!

These two hit the ground running on the second TNA PPV! After some chain wrestling filled with reversals, the veteran Super Crazy gains the upper hand and connects with a deep arm drag, followed by a dropkick that sends Red to the outside!

Crazy has The Asylum behind him as he sprints towards the ropes, reverses stance on the top rope…

SUPER CRAZY WITH A CORKSCREW MOONSAULT ONTO AMAZING RED!!!

Both men are slow to get to their feet, as Crazy looks to end Red’s hopes at a victory! Super Crazy climbs to the top turnbuckle, but Red is able to stagger to his feet long enough to jump onto the ropes, making Super Crazy land crotch first on the top turnbuckle!!!

Red then decides to show not only The Asylum, but the entire world what he is capable of as he springboards off the ropes…

RED LEAPS FORWARD AND LATCHES ONTO SUPER CRAZY…FOR A TOP ROPE HURICANRANNA!!!

The Asylum eats up the move as Red has his window right now!! Red flies off the ropes and connects with a spinning heel kick! He then lifts Super Crazy up and connects with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker!!!

Red kicks Crazy in the gut, bounces off the ropes, leaps onto the back of Crazy then slings him forward in a powerbomb-type move that Professor Tenay is all over- IT’S CALLED THE CODE RED!!!!

Amazing Red hits CODE RED on Super Crazy and holds for the cover!!!

The Asylum gives Red a nice ovation as West and Tenay put him over on commentary, saying the young high-flyer has just turned a whole bunch of heads with his impressive showing here tonight!

We head to TNA President Jim Cornette’s office, where he is awaiting to make an important announcement. He stacks some papers neatly at his desk before looking into the camera…

“TNA is all about exciting, pulse-pounding matches- just like the one we’ve all just witnessed! The X-Division is going to be the backbone of TNA, so therefore, it is only right that I announce in THREE WEEKS- on July 17, 2002- PPV #005- We will officially crown the FIRST EVER X-DIVISION CHAMPION! Retro-active to last week, every X-Division Showcase Match will be worth 3 points, and the TOP SIX men at the end of PPV #004 will go onto a revolutionary match called ULTIMATE X! We will have more details on this Ultimate X match in the near future, but for now, here are the Standings for the X-Division:

We head to the back where Goldilocks is standing by with Chris Harris and James Storm! The dynamic duo tagged for the first time last week and looked like naturals, and they are here tonight with a message! James Storm begins to speak…

“We know the opportunity put in front of us is golden right now. We also know that Chris and I are a team to be reckoned with. We will be the cornerstone of the TNA Tag division for years to come!”

Chris Harris takes over from there…

“Every team in the world will eventually envy us. Everybody will be gunning for us. And they will all watch as we walk around with NWA Tag Team gold around our waist! Everybody will want a piece of us, which is why we are here tonight to send a message to EVERY TAG TEAM about to walk through the TNA door! We are AMERICA’S MOST WANTED! And we are the team to beat!”

Storm and Harris share a high five before Goldy sends us back down to ringside…

West and Tenay hype up Harris and Storm, who are now known as America’s Most Wanted! AMW for short, as Professor Tenay points out. And speaking of tag team wrestling, we keep it here for our next bout featuring TWO NEW TAG TEAMS here in TNA!

Match 2- Tag Team Match
Amish Roadkill & Danny Doring vs. Air Canada- Tyson & Teddy Hart

The veterans Roadkill and Doring take to cutting the ring in half on the high-flying Teddy Hart early on. Roadkill connects with a backbreaker while Doring flies off the middle rope and connects with a flying fist right to Hart!

Teddy Hart begins to claw his way back as he hits a spinning heel kick on Danny Doring! Teddy reaches out and makes the HOT TAG to Tyson!

Tyson cleans house with rights and lefts, a shoulder block to Doring, and a dropkick to Roadkill that sends him off the apron and to the floor! Tyson then looks to fly through the air and goes for a cross body, but Doring catches him, and then plants him in the corner with the TREE OF WOE!! Doring tags in the big Roadkill…

Roadkill races over towards the opposite corner and blasts Teddy Hart with a forearm smash! Roadkill then sprints full speed ahead…

CANNONBALL INTO TYSON HART IN THE CORNER!!!

It’s all but over for the young upstarts from Stampede Wrestling as Roadkill tags in Doring. Doring then holds Tyson up over his shoulders…Roadkill steamrolls ahead…

Roadkill and Doring pick up their first victory here in TNA, as West and Tenay say they were the last ECW Tag Team Champions just over a year ago, and should be taken very seriously in the Tag Team Division!!

West and Tenay then shift focus as they talk about last week when Steve Corino and Jack Victory assaulted Terry Funk just before his big match, then Corino took his spot in the match, and ultimately Terry Funk cost Corino his shot. Tonight, Funk and Corino were originally scheduled to duke it out, but not after what transpired earlier on. They say TNA has obtained footage from earlier today…

EARLIER IN THE NIGHT…

We see Terry Funk arriving at the arena, signing autographs as The Asylum fans are lined up around the Nashville Fairgrounds waiting to get it. Suddenly, Steve Corino and Jack Victory burst onto the scene. Corino and Funk get into a shouting match, which eventually leads to JACK VICTORY CRACKING HIS CRUTCH OVER TERRY FUNK’S HEAD!!!

Corino puts the boots to Funk and then lifts him up in the center of the parking lot…

STEVE CORINO HITS A PILEDRIVER ON TERRY FUNK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT!!!

TNA Security rush to the parking lot, but the damage has been done! Corino stomps on Funk one last time before he and Jack Victory walk away…

END FOOTAGE

We then are treated to a promo from Terry Funk as our camera crews have met up with The Hardcore Legend from his hospital bed. Funk lies in his bed with a big bandage wrapped around his head, IV’s sticking out of his arms, mean mugs the camera as he begins…

“Hey you! *points to cameraman* yeah, bring that over here. I got something I wanna say…Steve Corino…you may have gotten me good in the parking lot, but in the grand scheme of life…let’s just say you missed! I’m still here, and this damn hospital ain’t gonna keep me from kicking your ass! Corino, I plan on checking myself out in the next few minutes. Then I’m going home to rest up… and I’ll give ya a week to get ready…because NEXT WEEK- I WANT YOU!!”

A team of nurses heads into Funk’s room and instructs the cameraman to leave while they check on Ol Funker…

Down at ringside, West and Tenay talk about how Terry Funk is clearly crazy, and Steve Corino may have poked his hand into the wrong hornet’s nest!!

We head to the back where Goldilocks is standing by with the newest addition to TNA- BRIAN LAWLER! Next to Lawler is a familiar body face from WCW- TYLENE BUCK! Lawler has his arm wrapped around Tylene Buck, as they must be a pairing for the time being. Lawler, cocky as ever, begins to speak…

“Tonight marks the dawn of a new era. Tonight, I finally get a chance to showcase how talented I really am. And trust me…I know I have what it takes to climb the ladder here in TNA and make a name for myself! Plus…*Lawler pulls Tylene Buck in close* I have my own TNA to bring around with me…”

Lawler smirks for the camera as Goldilocks isn’t impressed. We send it back down to ringside for our next matchup…

Match 3- Singles Match
Brian Lawler w/Tylene Buck vs. Sonny Siaki

Sonny Siaki is cutting his teeth here in TNA, and Lawler is ready to pounce on him! Siaki tries to get some offense in, but Lawler easily shrugs it off. Lawler connects with a beautiful DROPKICK that sends Siaki down on the mat!

Lawler then goads The Asylum before calling Tylene Buck up onto the apron where the two share a kiss! Lawler then gives the middle finger to The Asylum before climbing to the top turnbuckle. Lawler leaps off with a TOP ROPE LEGDROP that he calls the TENNESSEE JAM!!!

It’s over for Sonny Siaki as Lawler makes the cover…

Lawler and Buck taunt the crowd up the entrance ramp as West and Tenay say that Lawler is in great shape, is certainly NOT short on confidence, and is poised to do big things here in TNA!!

We head to the back where Goldilocks is standing by with a very disgruntled Shane Douglas! Before Goldy can get a word in, Douglas snatches the mic from her hands…

“Let’s get one thing straight. Monty Brown. I don’t give a damn if you played professional football, basketball, or tennis! NOBODY comes down and disrespects me the way you did last week. I’m no coward, and I’m standing right here! So… Monty Brown! Wherever the hell you are hiding from me, get your ass over here and come fight me like…”

POOOUNNNNCEEE!!!!!

MONTY BROWN JUST EMERGED FROM THIN AIR AND POUNCES SHANE DOUGLAS THROUGH THE INTERVIEW SET!!!

The curtains and lighting fall on top of Shane Douglas, as Goldilocks runs out of harm’s way! Monty Brown picks up the fallen mic…

“Shane Douglas! You can’t walk around here like you own the joint…because you don’t! And until you zip that mouth tight, I’m gon’ keep coming back to POUNCE your ass!”

Monty Brown drops the mic and heads off as TNA Officials come over to the set and help Shane Douglas to his feet!

Before we head back down for our next matchup, we get a quick vignette of KEN SHAMROCK before the big NWA Championship Match tonight…INSIDE A STEEL CAGE! The vignette shows clips of Ken Shamrock inside his personal gym, training for the big match tonight as he voices over in the background…

“Tonight, three warriors and Jeff Jarrett step into the ring for the richest prize in all of wrestling. What they all don’t know is this…once that steel cage door locks, they’re all stuck in there with ME! KEN SHAMROCK! THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN IN AMERICA!”

We head back down to ringside, as we are ready for another big X-Division Showcase Match! This time, we will see a FOUR WAY, with four BIG points on the line for Ultimate X on the July 17 show!

Match 4- Four Corners X-Division Showcase
AJ Styles vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Kaz Hayashi vs. Jimmy Yang

AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn already have three points, while Hayashi and Yang are both debuting. Both high-flyers made their mark at the end of WCW, and are looking to carry over some momentum from a recent Japan tour!

This thing kicks off in a hurry as all four men trade dropkicks, suplexes, and flying forearms until somehow, everybody but Jerry Lynn ends up on the outside…

LYNN JUMPS FROM THE RING…TO THE ROPES…AND CONNECTS WITH A SPRINGBOARD SHOOTING STAR PRESS ONTO EVERYBODY AT RINGSIDE!!!

The Asylum goes CRAZY for Jerry Lynn, who at close to 40 years of age, shouldn’t be able to pull that off!!

Lynn stands tall as he tosses Hayashi back inside the ring. Lynn goes to work on Hayashi but before too long…

JIMMY YANG LEAPS OFF THE TOP ROPE WITH A FLYING CROSS BODY!!!

Yang gets right up from the move…

AND RUNS RIGHT INTO A SPRINGBOARD FOREARM FROM AJ STYLES!!!

Styles takes advantage of Yang but before he can do anything…

IT’S KAZ HAYASHI’S TURN TO GO FLYING!!! HAYASHI SPINS THROUGH THE AIR BEFORE LANDING ON STYLES AND YANG!!!

Everybody is down, West and Tenay have almost lost their voices already, and The Asylum hasn’t sat this entire match…THIS IS THE X DIVISION!!!!

All four men find themselves in their own respective corners, and all four get up simultaneously…

Hayashi goes for Lynn while Yang goes for Styles. Lynn gets the best of Hayashi as he connects with a BRAINBUSTER!!! Lynn then lifts up Hayashi…

CRADLE PILEDRIVER!!!

SIMULTANEOUSLY…while Lynn connects with his finishing move to Hayashi, Jimmy Yang is trying his best on the budding superstar AJ Styles but Styles is able to hit him with a PELE KICK…

Styles is now 2 for 2 in X-Division matches! He also is in the driver’s seat for Ultimate X, as he now has SEVEN POINTS! Styles gets his hand raised as West and Tenay hype up the action we all just witnessed, saying there isn’t any better wrestling in the world today than TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION!!!

After getting to his feet, Lynn stares back at AJ Styles. He goes up to the young gun and offers a hand, but AJ decides he is just too cool for Lynn and shrugs it off. Lynn puts his hands on his hips, shaking his head, as AJ Styles exits up the entrance ramp. Lynn tried his best to show respect to AJ Styles, but Styles is too cocky right now to recognize a veteran looking to show him the ropes…

It’s time for some more NWA Championship hype!!! This time, we see EKMO sitting by himself in the dressing room, towel over his head. He isn’t much of a talker, but has a few words about tonight…

“Tonight, I show the entire world just how deep my Samoan bloodline runs! Like the elders before me, they set their sights to the top of every wrestling promotion they entered, and left as royalty. TNA will be no different! See, I have skills that nobody else possesses. And tonight, I put those skills to good use as I etch my name in the record books!”

We head over to Goldilocks, who is with VAMPIRO! The scary man stands tall with his arms crossed as Goldy asks him his thoughts about his match, which is NEXT against D’Lo Brown…

“I came to TNA under the guidance of a good friend. A friend of mine who is putting together a master plan. Soon, everything will start to make sense. Tonight is just the first step in a very long and strategic game…”

Vampiro looks off the set as we can hear a man laughing maniacally off in the distance…

IT’S FATHER JAMES MITCHELL!!

We heard what he had to say last week, and it seems he has aligned himself with the scariest man on the roster that he could find. Mitchell pats Vampiro on the back before talking…

“That’s right. I offered my managerial services…my guidance…to this man right here. But he is just one big piece of the puzzle…BECAUSE DOOMSDAY IS COMING TO TNA!!!”

The two head off the set as we go back down to ringside…

Match 5- Singles Match
Vampiro w/FJM vs. D’Lo Brown

D’Lo starts off hot, connecting with big clotheslines and a back body drop! Vampiro slides to the outside to gather himself, while his new manager FJM gives him a pep talk at ringside. D’Lo isn’t one to wait, and flies off the apron with a DOUBLE AXE HANDLE on Vampiro!!

D’Lo lets out his famous head nod as he tosses Vampiro hard into the steel steps. He slides Vamps back inside the ring and hits a springboard leg drop for a 2 count!

D’Lo stays in control, tossing Vampiro into the corner. Vampiro counters with a back elbow, and begins to take control of the match. Vampiro connects with a dropkick, followed by a running bulldog! Vampiro has D’Lo right where he wants him, as FJM holds his cane up high on the outside!

Vampiro hits a neckbreaker and then signals for the end! He lifts up D’Lo Brown for the NAIL IN THE COFFIN…but D’Lo carries his momentum forward and counters with a GERMAN SUPLEX!!!

Vampiro is down, and D’Lo can taste victory! D’Lo heads to the top rope, getting ready to hit his finisher- THE LO DOWN! Just as D’Lo attempts to steady himself on the top rope…

FATHER JAMES MITCHELL USES HIS CANE TO SWEEP THE FOOT OF D’LO BROWN…

D’Lo loses his balance and lands crotch first on the top turnbuckle!!!!

Referee Rudy Charles saw it all…AND CALLS FOR THE BELL!!!

Winner at 7:00 VIA DQ- D’Lo Brown

D’Lo may have won via DQ, but Vampiro is just warming up! Vampiro, under the instruction of Father James Mitchell, pulls D’Lo off the top rope…

VAMPIRO HITS THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN!!!!

Vampiro and FJM walk off, as FJM lets out one last maniacal laugh as the duo heads up the apron!

Back inside the ring, D’Lo slowly gets to his feet, holding his head, as he points up to the ramp at Vamps and FJM, signaling that this feud is just beginning to heat up!!

It’s time for MIKE AWESOME to give us hype for tonight’s NWA CHAMPIONSHIP…and if you haven’t already heard…it takes place INSIDE A STEEL CAGE!!

Mike Awesome sits in his dressing room, similar to Ekmo just before. Awesome is taping up his wrists as he looks into the camera…

“TNA is the start of something new. The start of something different. I’ve been labeled new and different my entire career. Who else my size can fly through the air like I do? Who else kicks ass the way I do? Shamrock, Ekmo, Jeff Jarrett, tonight may be viewed as a title match for you three, but to me, it is just another night where I DEMOLISH three other men and take that NWA title back with me!”

Following that, we head over to Goldilocks who is standing by with the most hated man in TNA and we’ve only been on the air for about three total hours thus far…DON CALLIS!!

Goldy says Callis wasn’t scheduled for an interview, but here he is…

“And here I am, Goldilocks. I see the power that NWA title holds. I saw it up close. I also saw a few prospective clients in the works. Don’t think I’m done recruiting, because I just won’t go away until I get what I want. And Jim Cornette, you can try to ban me and tell me I don’t have the right credentials to be here, but let me tell you something…my friend…I have MORE THAN ONE thing cooking right now!”

Callis looks down at his clipboard before he smiles at the camera, and then walks off as Goldy sends it back down to ringside…

West and Tenay don’t know what to make of Don Callis, and wonder what else he has up his sleeve that he isn’t telling us…We then shift focus as we get ready for another X-DIVISION SHOWCASE MATCH, in which the winner will earn THREE points towards Ultimate X!!

Match 6- X-Division Showcase
Christopher Daniels vs. Tony Mamaluke

Daniels is an Indy darling, primarily calling California home. Mamaluke had a brief stint in WCW, and followed that up with a nice run at the end of ECW!

The two test each other out in the early going, with arm drags, side headlocks, and reversals all over the mat!

Daniels picks up the pace by tossing Mamaluke off the ropes. Mamaluke flips over Daniels and goes for a clothesline but Daniels ducks, bounces off the ropes and connects with a FLYING CUTTER!!

Daniels takes control of the match after connecting with a dropkick, followed by a slam in the corner. Daniels then hops off the first turnbuckle, leaps to the top…

AND CONNECTS WITH A BEAUTIFUL MOONSAULT!!!

1…2…NOO!!!

Mamaluke kicks out and THE ASYLUM LOVES THE ACTION!!

Mamaluke gets his comeuppance, but when he goes for a top rope splash, Daniels counters it in mid-air with a dropkick!! Mamaluke falls back into the corner and Daniels runs at him, connecting with a knee right to the face!!

Daniels calls for the end as he hooks Mamaluke underneath him…

DANIELS CONNECTS WITH A DOUBLE UNDERHOOK FACEBUSTER!!!

Professor Tenay is all over the move and says that is Christopher Daniels’ finishing move in which he calls ANGELS WINGS!!!

Daniels celebrates as he gets his arm raised, while West and Tenay hype up the X-Division some more and then transition over to tell us that Christopher Daniels has now gained THREE POINTS for Ultimate X!!

They then read us off the standings, through two shows, as we inch closer to July 17, 2002 and Ultimate X for the INAUGURAL X-DIVISION CHAMPION!!

Christopher Daniels- 3 Points

We head to the back where Goldilocks has the pleasure of getting JEFF JARRETT'S thoughts before the big NWA Championship match! Jarrett, flanked by his new cronies Roadhouse James and The Harris Brothers, stands tall with his trusty guitar over his shoulder…

“Tonight, we make history! Tonight, everybody finds out that you’re all living ON PLANET JARRETT!!! The Jarrett name and NWA have long gone hand-in-hand, and when it is all said and done, I will be the last one standing as I hoist that beautiful championship up in the air for the world to see…AND YOU CAN ALL CHOKE ON THAT!!!”

Jarrett and his entourage head off the set as we head back down to ringside…

THE STEEL CAGE BEGINS TO DESCENT FROM THE RAFTERS!!!!

Dramatic music plays as cheap sparklers go off around the top of the cage! West and Tenay hype us up as we pan over to a shot of the NWA Championship resting on a pedestal at ringside. THIS IS WHAT TNA IS ALL ABOUT!!!

Main Event- NWA Championship- Four Way Steel Cage Match
Jeff Jarrett vs. Ekmo vs. Ken Shamrock vs. Mike Awesome

All four men enter, with each bringing a weapon of their choosing into the cage! Ekmo brings a trash can filled with weapons, Ken Shamrock tosses in a couple of chairs, Mike Awesome slides two tables into the ring, and Jeff Jarrett wields his guitar, with Roadhouse James and The Harris Brothers ALL wielding guitars of their own! After everybody enters the ring, with weapons all over the mat, Referee Rudy Charles locks the cage door shut…AND WE ARE READY TO CROWN A NEW NWA CHAMPION!!!

The match begins with Shamrock, Ekmo and Awesome all circling Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett pleads his case by begging with his hands out, but the other three don’t want to hear anything he says…because they want their hands on CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD!!!

Ekmo drills Jarrett with a HEADBUTT!!

Mike Awesome waits for Jarrett to get up…BIG BOOT!!!

It’s Ken Shamrock’s turn as he lifts Jarrett up like a rag doll before tossing him FACE FIRST into the steel cage!!!

With Jarrett now neutralized, and the pleasantries out of the way…Ekmo, Shamrock and Awesome all meet in the middle of the ring…AND BEGIN THROWING HAYMAKERS AT EACH OTHER!!!

The Asylum loves the action and cheer loudly for the spot!

While the three beat the living shit out of each other, Jeff Jarrett has regained his stamina from the beating earlier on and MAKES A RUN FOR THE CAGE DOOR!!!

Before Jarrett can make it out, Ken Shamrock spots his escape and grabs Jarrett by the leg, dragging him back inside the ropes…

Shamrock then looks down at himself holding Jarrett by the leg…

SHAMROCK WITH THE ANKLE LOCK!!!!

Jarrett writhes in pain as Roadhouse James tries everything he can on the outside to prevent Jarrett from tapping out…however…Jarrett doesn’t have to worry much longer…

EKMO COMES FLYING OFF THE TOP ROPE WITH A BIG SPLASH ONTO KEN SHAMROCK!!!

Ekmo’s comeuppance is short-lived as he turns around…

MIKE AWESOME SMACKS EKMO OVER THE HEAD WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!

Awesome then drills Jarrett across the back for good measure!

Awesome begins to climb to the top turnbuckle, but doesn’t get far as he realizes Ekmo and Shamrock are back on their feet…No problem for the big man!!!

MIKE AWESOME LEAPS OFF WITH A DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE OFF THE TOP ROPE TO EKMO AND SHAMROCK!!!!

Mike Awesome is on fire right now!!! Much like everybody else during this match, the hot-streak is short-lived…

JEFF JARRETT BLASTS MIKE AWESOME IN THE HEAD WITH HIS GUITAR!!!

Jarrett falls to the mat, exhausted from the beating he has taken. Roadhouse James and The Harris Brothers shake the cage, cheering on their new leader. Jarrett thinks twice about attempting to climb out and instead begins to scale the cage to the top. Jarrett is at the way top of the cage, when Mike Awesome reaches up and grabs his leg!!!

Awesome then begins to climb up himself, scratching and clawing his way up to Jarrett. Awesome is able to pull Jarrett back down, and now both men stand on the ropes. Awesome smashes Jarrett’s face off the cage…Jarrett elbows Awesome in the gut…Both men wobble…

Ekmo climbs underneath both men…

EKMO WITH A DOUBLE POWERBOMB TO MIKE AWESOME AND JEFF JARRETT OFF THE TOP ROPE!!!

It’s Ekmo’s time to shine now, as he sets up both tables, getting ready to inflict more damage to his opponents…but Ken Shamrock is waiting for him, looking for his patented belly-to-belly suplex, but Ekmo blocks it…and serves up one of those deadly SAMOAN HEADBUTTS to Ken Shamrock!!!

Ekmo has neutralized everybody, and goes over towards the door, looking to climb out…

ROADHOUSE JAMES SMASHES THE DOOR INTO EKMO’S HEAD!!!!

Ekmo hits the deck as The Asylum rain down boos on James…

James then reaches into his pocket and PULLS OUT A PAIR OF HANDCUFFS!!!

He reaches through the cage opening, where Ken Shamrock just so happens to be lying down right next to…JAMES HANDCUFFS KEN SHAMROCK’S HAND TO THE CAGE!!!

SUDDENLY…

RON KILLINGS RUNS DOWN AND TACKLES ROADHOUSE JAMES TO THE FLOOR!!!

Killings hasn’t forgotten about last week! Killings puts an ass-whooping on James, fighting him up the entrance ramp and to the back…but while this distraction is taking place…

THE HARRIS BROTHERS HAVE CLIMBED TO THE TOP OF THE CAGE FROM THE OUTSIDE!!!

Ron and Don hold their hands out for Jarrett, who begins to scale the cage once more, this time with assistance from his private security team!

Jarrett, battered and bloodied, with his once platinum-blonde hair now blood-soaked, takes a long time to climb up. He reaches up for Ron and Don but there is commotion in the aisle way as The Asylum screams at the top of their lungs…

IT’S KRONIC!!!!! Bryan Clarke and Brian Adams are here, and if you think for one second I wasn’t adding these two Newgen legends in some capacity to this BTB world, you haven’t read my other shit!!!

Kronic rush down the entrance ramp and grab a hold of Ron and Don Harris, dragging them back down before brawling with them through the crowd!!!

While all of this chaotic overbooked madness is going on, Mike Awesome has placed the dazed Ekmo on the top rope, and has stuffed the trash can over his head…He then lifts Ekmo up…

AWESOME BOMB TO EKMO WHO’S HEAD IS STUCK INSIDE THE TRASH CAN THROUGH THE TABLE!!!!

Jarrett looks down from the top of the cage to see his friends getting beat to a pulp in the crowd…He then looks down inside the ring….AND MIKE AWESOME IS WAITING FOR HIM!!!

Jarrett has nowhere to go, no one left to help him get the gold…he is purely stuck up there with Mike Awesome waiting to destroy him!!! Awesome easily grabs a hold of Jarrett and sets him up…

TOP ROPE AWESOME BOMB TO JEFF JARRETT THROUGH THE TABLE!!!!!!!!

The Asylum, along with West and Tenay, have lost their collective minds!!!!

Mike Awesome is finishing this one inside the ring…no escaping the cage…no climbing through the door….

Just as Mike Awesome covers Jarrett, and Referee Slick Johnson makes the count…KEN SHAMROCK BREAKS FREE FROM THE HANDCUFFS….

BUT CAN’T GET THERE IN TIME!!!!!

WINNER AND NEW NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION at 22:00- Mike Awesome

THE ASYLUM IS ON THEIR FEET as Mike Awesome is handed the NWA Championship! Awesome looks down at the title as he is overcome with emotion!!! He holds the title up high as The Asylum rejoices at the sight!!!

The camera shoots over to the carnage, as Jarrett lies motionless in the midst of the rubble from the exploding table…Ekmo lies motionless with the trash can still over half of his body…

And Ken Shamrock steams in the corner, hands on his knees, pissed that he almost got there to break up the count. Shamrock forcefully turns Mike Awesome around, but is man enough to respect that Awesome won, and puts out his hand. Awesome accepts the handshake, while we can pick up Ken Shamrock’s words to Mike Awesome…

“You won tonight…but you didn’t beat me…I’ll see you very soon!”

Shamrock exits the cage as Mike Awesome continues his celebration…

The credits roll as West and Tenay sign us off, and the final scene we witness this week is the NEW NWA WORLD CHAMPION Mike Awesome posing at the top of the cage, with his newly won NWA Championship held high above his head…

Mike Awesome is now the NWA World Champion, but in the process has put a MASSIVE target on his back, and the duo of Ken Shamrock and Ekmo weren’t pinned, and have a serious gripe about taking the title away from Mike Awesome!!

For now, Mike Awesome stands tall as he ushers in TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION as the Champion of the world!!!

Psh, you know damn well there’s no steel cage hanging from the ceiling of The Asylum. We getting 20 minutes worth of video packages and commentary hype well that cage is being constructed for sure.

X Division showcase here was good, and whilst I’m probably more of a Super Crazy fan, I think booking wise it makes sense for Red to win. Being a relative unknown, he can be a homegrown talent of sorts for TNA, so good to put him over.

I’m torn on the X Division showcase matches being worth points to be honest. As in, I like it, and it makes sense, and forcing wrestlers to qualify for Ultimate X is the right move. However, I don’t like the retrospective nature of points being given for matches where competitors did not realise or know points were up for grabs. Cornette seems to be taking on the role of a no nonsense, fair authority figure, but this kind of feels dodgy/underhanded to me. I don’t know, maybe I’m looking to much into it, but just a thought.

Also, I’m really intrigued by what you do with Ultimate X as a match. Starting from scratch, you can literally do ANYTHING. I guess I’m keeping a keen eye on whether you’ll make this match your own or go ahead with the status quo that was established in real life.

Also regarding this X Division stuff, in case anybody has forgotten my thoughts because it has been forever since ECW BTB, fuck Jerry Lynn.

Short and sharp from Harris and Storm, but epic because they’ve just been billed AMW. Yay.

Doring and Roadkill getting the win here is fine, but I’m honestly more interested in the Air Canada. Obviously young and inexperienced, but a pairing that can do some damage down the track for sure. Nice pairing by you.

Corino’s attack on Funk last week was EPIC by the way. You know I’m a Corino fan, so glad you’re using him here. This week’s attack wasn’t as epic but served its purpose. I can’t compliment you enough on running a Funk/Corino program. So much fun to be had.

MAJOR GUNNS~! Her and Lawler is an interesting pairing, but I think I like it. Promo from Lawler was fine. I liked the line about his own TNA.

Remember when Vince Russo was trying to make Sonny Siaki be the next version of The Rock? Lol. A very different start to his run in TNA here, with Lawler basically squashing him.

LMAO I love Shane Douglas just getting pounced every week. Let’s see how long you can keep that going, without repeating the same spot… Monty Brown is awesome, and Douglas is a great foil for him here.

Thank god Lynn didn’t win this next X Division showcase. Obviously you chose the right man in AJ getting the win. Ending to the match was a nice spot to. Styles ignoring the handshake is because he knows Lynn sucks. Seriously though, AJ with a bit of an attitude problem could be fun.

Ekmo was epic last week. I expect the same moving forward.

Vampiro and Father James Mitchell is another inspired pairing you’ve got there, well done. Kind of torn on the booking of Vampiro vs. D’Lo though. D’Lo could still go at this time and is valuable so I get you not wanting him to lose, BUT Vampire almost had to win this first match to help establish the pairing. I get he still laid out D’Lo afterwards but it didn’t have the same affect knowing he was probably going to lose before Mitchell got involved.

Generic promo from Mike Awesome to hype the main. I have a theory that Awesome will join Callis and win the title by the way. Only because last week he said he can’t be bought and we all know from his history (leaving ECW for WCW as ECW Champion), that he damn well sure can be bought.

Don Callis promo about having multiple things cooking is intriguing. I’ll still stick to Awesome joining him but we’ll see.

Christopher Daniels over Tony Mamaluke was definitely the right move. LOVE how much X Division action we are getting.

Please don’t have Planet Jarrett with Jeff and The Harris Brothers reign on top lol.

Epic shenanigans in the main event. The appearance of Kronik had me marking out like you wouldn’t believe. Mike Awesome as first champ is a big call. Curious still to see what happens with Callis, and who sent Kronik out? Awesome/Shamrock would be fun moving forward to.

So good to have you producing shows again. A lot of fun to read, and a lot of unique pairings so you can already see your fingerprints all over this one.

9:00PM hits on the Eastern seaboard as the screen dims, before vibrant yellow, gold, red and black strokes fill the shot. The TNA logo pops up before we fade inside what is now known as THE ASYLUM- where over a thousand rabid fans are on their feet, shouting “TNA! TNA!” at the top of their lungs!

We’ve officially made it to July, so The Asylum is decked out with red, white and blue for America’s birthday tomorrow- Independence Day! The TNA Girls dance next to the entrance way, decked out in Uncle Sam-inspired outfits and I swear to you Vince Russo is nowhere to be found in this project!!

The Asylum is packed to the rafters with the now staple attire of the majority of fans- Michael Vick and Steve McNair jerseys, Nokia brick cell phones, and of course, frosted tips peering out of your favorite Eddie Bauer visor hat!! Outside, the heat has only picked up steam, much like Nelly and his hit single, and the fact that the cooling system is about to break inside The Asylum- so it really is getting hot in herre!!!

First, we see highlights from last week’s HUGE Main Event! Mike Awesome lays claim to the NWA Championship, outlasting three others in a Steel Cage Match! We see Mike Awesome standing tall at the top of the steel cage, holding the NWA Championship high in the air as The Asylum goes crazy for him!

The camera pans through the crowd before swinging down to ringside where we are greeted by the dynamic duo of “Professor” Mike Tenay and his partner, decked out in a red, white and blue-themed Hawaiian shirt- Don West! It’s the THIRD TNA show, on July the THIRD, which will feature two teams of THREE in the main event! There’s only room for two men at the commentary desk…BECAUSE THREE’S A CROWD!!!

West and Tenay hype up tonight’s HUGE show, which features X-Division Showcase matches as we inch closer towards ULTIMATE X! The card is also JAM PACKED with a huge SIX MAN MAIN EVENT! Newly crowned NWA Champion Mike Awesome teams up with the two men he DID NOT pin last week- Ken Shamrock and Ekmo, as they take on Jeff Jarrett and The Harris Brothers!!

Enough of the talk, we keep it right here as we start off with some X-DIVISION ACTION!!

Match 1- X-Division Showcase
Kid Kash vs. Elix Skipper

Kid Kash was a mainstay in ECW, while Elix Skipper cut his teeth then had a solid run in WCW. Both men are making their debut here in NWA: TNA, and the winner of this match will gain the coveted THREE POINTS towards ULTIMATE X- which is in just TWO SHORT WEEKS!!!

Kash and Skipper start this one off with a torrid pace, while neither man gains the upper hand! Kash tries to keep Skipper chasing him through the air, while the stronger Elix Skipper does his best to connect with swift kicks to the legs of Kid Kash, keeping him on the ground!

Things begin to pick up as Elix Skipper finds himself on the wrong end of a baseball slide that knocks him towards the entrance ramp. He doesn’t have long to gain his composure…

KID KASH HITS A SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT ONTO ELIX SKIPPER IN THE AISLE WAY!!!

Kash garners a huge pop from The Asylum, who are quickly growing accustomed to this new era of wrestling in the form of the X-Division!

Kash tosses Skipper around on the outside, and goes to throw him into the guard rail, but Skipper leaps up at the last second AND LANDS PERFECTLY ON THE GUARD RAIL…

Surprised by the cat-like move to balance on the guard rail, Kash is thrown off guard…

SKIPPER LEAPS OFF THE GUARD RAIL AND CONNECTS WITH A HURICANRANNA!!!!

Skipper tosses Kash back inside the ring as he ascends to the top turnbuckle. Skipper sizes up Kid Kash who lies on the mat. Skipper leaps off with a 450 SPLASH…

BUT NOBODY IS HOME!!!

Kid Kash rolls out of the way at the last second, and Skipper tastes nothing but the mat! Kash can sense victory as he waits for Skipper to get up…

AND CONNECTS WITH A WICKED BRAINBUSTER!!!

Professor Tenay tells us that Kash calls that move GOING FOR BROKE!!!!

Kid Kash gets his hand raised as West and Tenay hype up the X-Division, which has quickly grown into a phenomenon here in NWA: TNA!!

With the win, Kid Kash now captures THREE POINTS towards ULTIMATE X- Taking place for the vacant X-Division title ON JULY 17, 2002!!! After a shot of The Asylum going crazy for the match, we see the current standings leading into Ultimate X. The TOP SIX MEN qualify, and then will compete in a match where red cables are crossed at the top of the ring, while the X-Division title hangs in the balance…the twist- NO LADDERS ALLOWED!!! Somehow, you need to be athletic enough to scale the cables and grab the title!!!

Sticking with the X-Division, we head to the back where Goldilocks is standing by with the man who has all but clinched his spot in Ultimate X- AJ STYLES!! Goldilocks begins to talk, but is quickly interrupted by the budding superstar…

“Let me stop you there. See, nothing more needs to be said about AJ Styles…other than I will be known as THE GREATEST WRESTLER who has ever walked this planet! I don’t need anybody’s help to do the things I’m about to do. I’m not looking from guidance from Jerry Lynn, or anybody else for that matter! I know I’m that damn good…hell…I know I’m PHENOMENAL! Take it to the bank…AJ Styles will be THE FIRST X-DIVISION CHAMPION!!

The cocky Styles heads off the set as we kick it back down to ringside where West and Tenay are waiting to hype up our next matchup- a TAG TEAM MATCH!!

Match 2- Tag Team Match
America’s Most Wanted vs. Kaz Hayashi & Jimmy Yang

All four men have appeared in the first two shows. Harris and Storm have a team name now, which probably means they’re going to be important moving forward…

Yang and Hayashi come out of the gate firing on all cylinders, as they first put James Storm in a blender on their side of the ring! Eventually, Storm is able to make it back to his corner and tags in Harris. Not much luck for Harris, as he also gets put into a blender of kicks, chops, and double-team moves in the corner!!

Yang goes for a cartwheel kick in the corner, but Harris ducks! Harris then responds with a HUGE LARIAT that turns Yang inside out!

Harris makes the HOT TAG to James Storm, who fires away with rights and lefts to Yang, but Hayashi is able to make a blind tag…Storm sends Yang off the ropes, turns around and Hayashi flies off the ropes with a cross body…BUT STORM CATCHES HIM!!!

Storm plucks Hayashi from mid-air and runs full speed ahead, carrying Hayashi with him until Storm SLAMS HIM INTO THE CORNER!!!

Storm then fires away with loud knife-edge chops! AMW begin their own game of cutting the ring in half, and it is very effective. After a double clothesline, a dropkick from Harris into a backbreaker from Storm, Hayashi can’t do anything else but look on from his corner!!

Storm tags in Harris, who begins to climb to the top rope. Storm holds onto Yang in a seated position…

CHRIS HARRIS LEAPS FROM THE TOP…CONNECTING WITH A LEG DROP ON YANG!!!

Professor Tenay tells us this finisher’s name will be one you all remember forever…AMW calls this THE DEATH SENTENCE!!!

A death sentence it is for Jimmy Yang, who lies motionless as Harris makes the cover…

AMW get their hands raised as The Asylum cheers loudly for them! West and Tenay put them over on commentary, and say whenever the NWA Tag Team Titles are ready to be up for grabs, AMW seems like the team to beat!!

Speaking of the NWA Tag titles, we cut to a shot inside of NWA:TNA President Jim Cornette’s office, where the beautiful looking tag titles are placed on his desk. Cornette smiles for the camera as he begins to speak…

“As you can see I have with me the NWA tag titles…anyone who knows me knows these titles are near and dear to my heart. Which is why I am here to make a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT about the crowning of the first NWA Tag Champions under the TNA banner!”

Cornette shuffles some papers on his desk as he continues…

“In THREE WEEKS, on July 24, 2002, we will be having a match known as TAG TEAM BEDLAM to crown NWA Tag Team Champions. This is a gauntlet style match which will feature a new tag team coming out every two minutes. If one man gets pinned, his team is eliminated. The last team standing with become NWA Tag Champions!”

After the huge NWA Tag Team Championship announcement, we head back down to ringside where West and Tenay begin to hype up our next matchup- Steve Corino versus Terry Funk! They give us a recap of the past two weeks, where Corino ultimately ended up sending Terry Funk to the hospital following a brutal attack in the parking lot!!

Terry Funk is out first to a HUGE reaction from The Asylum! They love the Ol Funker, who still has a bandage on his forehead! We have yet to see Funk actually wrestle in a TNA ring, so tonight is his official debut! Funk swings his branding iron through the air as he seems locked in, ready to kick Steve Corino’s ass!!

But not so fast…

“Hold it right there, Funker!”

Steve Corino shouts from a mic as The Asylum rain down with boos before he even gets out onto the entrance ramp! Corino heads on out alongside Jack Victory, and Corino is NOT dressed for a match! Instead, he has on jeans and a t-shirt, and is sporting a large white cast on his left wrist!

“That parking lot piledriver did as much damage to me as it did to you, old man. I can’t compete tonight. And trust me, I did everything I could to get into this match, but at the end of the day, my team of doctors said my wrist just wasn’t fully healed!”

The crowd boos Corino loudly as he continues to strut down to ringside….

“However, I had an idea! Since I can’t wrestle tonight, and you’re already out here…why don’t I introduce to you and the entire world my replacement!”

Suddenly, a massive 7-footer with tattoos and bushy hair heads out!

“Terry Funk, I give to you the newest addition to Corino Family….MALICE!”

This huge man, built like A WALL heads down to ringside, and immediately grabs out two tables from underneath the ring! He slides them inside the ring, shakes Corino’s hand, and climbs in!

Match 3- Grudge Match
Terry Funk vs. Steve Corino Malice

Terry Funk doesn’t care who he is fighting tonight, because he has A LOT of pent-up anger from being taken out by Corino the last two weeks! Funk wildly swings his branding iron, chasing Malice to the outside!

Malice heads over towards Corino and Jack Victory, as Corino calls for a huddle…but while the meeting of the minds is taking place…

TERRY FUNK HITS A MOONSAULT OFF THE TOP TURNBUCKLE ONTO EVERYBODY AT RINGSIDE!!!!

The Asylum can’t believe the move…West and Tenay almost lose their voices over the move…And Terry Funk immediately grabs his leg from the hard landing!!!

Malice slowly gets up to his feet, and can sense blood in the water! Funk punches at his leg to try and get it to work, but before he can do anything…

MALICE DRILLS FUNK IN THE LEG WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!

Malice then heads into the ring, setting up both tables side by side!

On the outside, Jack Victory has distracted the referee…AND CORINO DRILLS FUNK IN THE HEAD WITH HIS CAST!!!

Corino then slides Funk back inside the ring as Malice is ready and waiting! Malice places Funk on the top turnbuckle, and then reaches his massive arm up, placing his baseball mitt sized hand around Funk’s throat…

MALICE WITH A CHOKESLAM TO TERRY FUNK THROUGH THE TABLES!!!

Corino jumps for joy on the outside as Malice covers Funk…

1…2…3!!!

Winner at 5:00- Malice

Corino hops into the ring and jumps onto Malice, who has just DESTROYED TERRY FUNK!!!

A team of medics quickly rush the ring and tend to Terry Funk! Corino, Malice and Victory all celebrate up the entrance ramp, while West and Tenay talk about how much of a weasel Steve Corino is! Surely this isn’t the end of this feud, as Terry Funk will EVENTUALLY get his hands on Steve Corino once and for all!

For now, Steve Corino is winning the war, and West and Tenay wonder if Corino’s wrist really needed the cast to begin with!!

We head to the back where VAMPIRO and FATHER JAMES MITCHELL are standing by with Goldilocks! Goldy looks scared to conduct this brief interview and rightfully so, as these two are certainly bizarre. Father James does the talking as he looks into the camera with a devilish grin…

“The plan is almost complete! All of our ducks are in a row…everything is falling into place…TNA will soon be ours…and we’re just a few small steps away from revealing the true leader of this DOOMSDAY operation!”

Mitchell lets out a sadistic laugh, and goes to continue speaking in riddles…

Before he can get another word out…

D’LO BROWN EMERGES ONTO THE SET!

“Let’s get one thing straight. I KNOW I can beat you in the middle of that ring…*points to Mitchell* and I KNOW I can whoop your ass…so why don’t we make a match for next week…Vampiro…D’Lo Brown…NO DQ MATCH!”

D’Lo Brown throws down the gauntlet as FJM and Vamps look at each other and begin to smirk. Mitchell lets out a sigh before shaking his head…

“Ahhh…Mr. Brown…don’t set a trap you can’t escape from!”

D’Lo isn’t here to play games…

AND DRILLS VAMPIRO IN THE FACE WITH A RIGHT HAND!!!

Goldilocks hits the road fast as Vampiro and D’Lo brawl on the ground! FJM tries his best to get some licks in with his cane, but D’Lo eats the cane shots and continues to pummel Vampiro with rights and lefts! D’Lo then turns his attention to Mitchell…

D'LO DECKS MITCHELL WITH A RIGHT HAND!!!

Eventually, a host of TNA Officials rally to the brawl and pull D’Lo apart from Vamps and FJM…

The camera zooms in to show FJM and Vampiro, both on the ground, both sadistically laughing!

Back at ringside West and Tenay don’t quite know what to think of Vampiro and Mitchell, and still wonder what Mitchell means when he says he is bringing DOOMSDAY to TNA!

They then shift focus to hype up our next match, a THREE WAY DANCE X-Division Showcase Match! The winner gains three points towards Ultimate X, and this could possibly be the last chance for one of these three to make it there!

Match 4- X-Division Showcase- Three Way Dance
EZ Money vs. Super Crazy vs. Tony Mamaluke

These three have all competed in TNA over the past two weeks, and all three lost their respective matches, so something’s gotta give tonight!!

As expected, this one starts off with a flurry of offense! Money dropkicks Mamaluke over the ropes and to the floor…Crazy clotheslines Money over…

SUPER CRAZY FLIES THROUGH THE AIR WITH A FLYING DIVE ONTO EZ MONEY AND TONY MAMALUKE AT RINGSIDE!!!

Crazy stands right up and soaks in the cheers from The Asylum!

Crazy then grabs Mamaluke as the two begin to fight on the ring apron. EZ Money has recovered and now finds himself on the top turnbuckle. He looks down at his opponents, shrugs his shoulders…

EZ MONEY LEAPS OFF THE TOP ROPE…LATCHES ONTO BOTH MAMALUKE AND SUPER CRAZY ON THE APRON…

AND HITS A TORNADO DDT ON BOTH MEN OFF THE APRON AND TO THE FLOOR!!!!

The Asylum, West and Tenay, and probably everybody watching at home CANNOT BELIEVE what we’ve all just witnessed!!!

EZ Money is somehow back on his feet, and slides Mamaluke back inside the ring. Money then tosses Mamaluke off the ropes, hoists him up…

Professor Tenay tells us EZ Money calls that MONEY IN THE BANK!!!! What a name to give it BT, very original…never heard of it before…

West and Tenay say that this was the last qualifying match, so our field is officially set FOR ULTIMATE X!!!

AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, Amazing Red, Kid Kash & EZ Money are all officially in the match!!!

It’s time for a NEW TAG TEAM vignette! For this one, we head to the mean streets of New York City! Cars buzz by, bright lights, big city…Two men decked out in Roca Wear outfits with red bandanas around their necks begin to slowly walk towards the camera…

“Out here in these streets…we run things! We are the alpha dogs! Our rule is king around here!"

The other man takes it from there…

“TNA will be no different! That NWA Tag gold will be around our waist very soon! Everybody in the Tag division, we are putting you on notice!”

The camera zooms in to show our newest team…LOW KI and HOMICIDE!!

The two NYC natives stand with their arms crossed, mean mugging the camera as a graphic pops up on the bottom of the screen…

Back down at ringside, West and Tenay hype up Murderaz Row as Tenay says Homicide is one of the hidden gems of the wrestling industry, and Low Ki we already know can hang with the best of them!

It’s time for our next matchup, one that has been two weeks in the making…Ron Killings looks for his revenge on Roadhouse James!!

Match 5- Grudge Match
Roadhouse James vs. Ron Killings

Killings barely waits for the bell as he instantly attacks Roadhouse James! Killings has a serious gripe with James, as James cost him his NWA Championship Qualifying match two weeks ago!

Killings with rights, lefts, kicks, elbows, and everything else as James curls up in the corner, waiting for the offensive barrage to stop. When Referee Slick Johnson finally pulls Killings off of James, the crafty veteran is waiting with an EYE POKE!!!

The eye poke gives James some time to get back into it, as he quickly hits a body slam before putting Killings in a headlock! Killings tosses James off the ropes and is waiting with a TWISTING ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

James slides to the outside, but Killings is hot on his trail! Killings chases James all around the ringside area before he slides back inside the ring, and hits Killings WITH ANOTHER EYE POKE!!!

The Asylum boos James loudly as he points to his head, trying to convince us all on how smart he is! James then heads over to the corner and begins to untie the turnbuckle!!

He gets it half-way off, good enough for Referee Slick Johnson to have to tie it back on, but while Jonhson is distracted, James PULLS OUT A PAIR OF BRASS KNUCKLES!!!

James goes to swing at Killings, but Killings ducks and hits a split, pops right back up…AND HITS A NECKBREAKER!!!

The brass knucks go flying, Killings is in complete control as he heads to the top turnbuckle…

KILLINGS CONNECTS WITH A 450 SPLASH!!!!

Professor Tenay tells us Killings calls this HANG TIME…and hang time is exactly what he had on that move!!!

Killings gets his hand raised as Roadhouse James lies motionless in the center of the ring. Killings talks some smack to him, content right now with the ass whopping he just put on the man that costed him a big match two weeks ago!!

West and Tenay hype up Killings and say this man has a big and bright future here in NWA:TNA!!

We head to the back where NWA Champion Mike Awesome, Ekmo and Ken Shamrock are getting ready for their big SIX MAN TAG Match tonight in the main event!

All three are on separate sides of the dressing room, staring a hole through each other. Awesome keeps the NWA title on his lap as Ekmo and Shamrock continue staring…

Suddenly, DON CALLIS barges into the dressing room, clipboard in hand…

“Perfect. You’re all here! Let me start out by saying that you all know what big fan I am of all three of you…and I’ve been watching you all closely the last two weeks…and….”

Mike Awesome gets up from his chair and stares down at Don Callis…

“If now isn’t a good time I can always come back…Yeah…I’ll come back….I’m gonna leave…”

Callis hurries out the door as Awesome lets out a smirk. Ekmo and Shamrock let their guard down for a split second and smirk as well as Shamrock speaks…

“He might be the only thing we all agree on…”

The tension continues to mount, but for now, these three will have to do their best to stick together tonight against Jeff Jarrett and The Harris Brothers!!

We head back down to ringside as West and Tenay are waiting for our next matchup- Brian Lawler with the lovely Tylene Buck against the man who has made quite the splash here in two short weeks- MONTY BROWN!!

Match 6- Singles Match
Brian Lawler w/Tylene Buck vs. Monty Brown

Lawler senses danger right off the bat, as Monty stalks him like prey, circling around the ring. Lawler goes for a tie up but Monty tosses him down to the mat!

Lawler crawls over towards the corner but is met with a kick right to the chest! Monty Brown then lifts Lawler up…

AND TOSSES HIM HALFWAY ACROSS THE RING!!!

The Asylum LOVES Monty Brown, he is over as shit, and looks impressive! Monty picks Lawler back up, but before he can do anything else to Lawler…

SHANE DOUGLAS COMES FROM OUT OF NOWHERE AND DRILLS MONTY BROWN ACROSS THE BACK WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!

The referee immediately calls for the bell!!!

No Contest at 3:00

Shane Douglas continues attacking Monty Brown with the steel chair, letting the youngster know that POUNCING Shane Douglas for two straight weeks would eventually lead to a beatdown!

Douglas picks up Monty Brown…

PITTSBURG PLUNGE!!!!

Douglas then asks for a mic…

“Monty Brown…let this be a lesson, pal! You got me good…twice…and embarrassed me, which is something that just doesn’t happen to THE FRANCHISE!!”

Shane Douglas drops the mic and kicks Monty Brown once more for good measure as he storms off. The Asylum lets Douglas hear it as he heads up the aisle way. Lawler and Buck look on from a distance, and thank Douglas for getting involved, because Brian Lawler might not have walked out of the ring if the match continued any longer!!!

We head to the back where Steve Corino, Jack Victory, and Corino’s newest bodyguard Malice all stand tall, celebrating a cheap win over an injured Terry Funk earlier on tonight! The celebration is short-lived when JIM CORNETTE barges onto the scene…

“Mr. Cornette, I think I showed you tonight exactly what I mean to this company…”

Cornette cuts Corino off…

“What you mean to this company? You didn’t even step into the ring tonight! You’re a coward, Corino! And everybody here knows it! This is the THIRD WEEK in a row you’ve called your own shot, and as TNA President, I won’t sit by idly anymore! So, next week- Terry Funk won’t be competing…but YOU WILL! And Terry Funk will have the honor OF PICKING YOUR OPPONENT!”

Cornette heads off following his ruling, while Corino is NOT happy about the decision! Next week, Terry Funk picks Steve Corino’s opponent!

We head over to Goldilocks, who is with everybody’s favorite wrestler- Jeff Jarrett- alongside his buddies The Harris Brothers! Jarrett, sunglasses on, guitar in hand, is not in a good mood tonight!

“Last week, everybody saw that I had that match won! And it PISSES ME OFF that Jim Cornette just let Kronic come down and interfere, costing me MY title!”

Jarrett shakes his head as he continues….

“Tonight, I plan on blasting Mike Awesome over the head with a guitar so hard that he won’t see straight for a month! And then, very shortly, I will lay claim to the title that SHOULD BE around my waist right now!”

Jeff Jarrett and The Harris Brothers head off the set as we pan back inside The Asylum…AND WE ARE READY FOR OUR HUGE MAIN EVENT!!

The bell rings and the chaos ensues as all six men begin to throw wild haymakers at each other!

Ekmo DRILLS Ron Harris with a lariat! Ken Shamrock tackles Ron Harris to the mat, but Ron fights back, and Jarrett is quickly there to stomp on Shamrock!

Both Ron and Don are back on their feet, and they come running at Mike Awesome…

AWESOME WITH A DIVING SHOULDER BLOCK THROUGH BOTH HARRIS BROTHERS!!!

They both hit the deck, and Ekmo is waiting for them…

EKMO WITH A DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE TO THE HARRIS BROTHERS OVER THE TOP AND TO THE FLOOR!!!

Shamrock has flipped the offense on Jarrett, and soon, Jarrett realizes his two buddies are licking their wounds on the outside! The Asylum begins to cheer as all three of Awesome, Ekmo and Shamrock begin to circle Jarrett!

Jarrett smartly picks the side of the ring that nobody is at, and slides underneath to the outside! Awesome, Shamrock and Ekmo aren’t just gonna stand for that! They exit the ring and look to pounce on Jarrett…

RON AND DON BOTH HAVE CHAIRS AND SMASH THE BACKS OF EKMO AND SHAMROCK!!!

Mike Awesome is still hot on the trail for Jarrett! Ron Harris runs at Awesome…

AWESOME WITH A BIG BOOT TO THE CHAIR RIGHT INTO THE FACE OF RON HARRIS!!!

Don Harris swings his chair at Awesome but he ducks, and then lifts the big man up…

CHOKESLAM TO DON HARRIS ON TOP OF RON HARRIS!!!

Awesome spent too much time on Ron and Don…

JEFF JARRETT BLASTS AWESOME OVER THE HEAD WITH A GUITAR!!!

Awesome crumbles to the floor as Jarrett picks up one of the chairs lying on a Harris Brother…

Ekmo goes for a SAVATE KICK but Jarrett ducks…goes to hit Ekmo with the chair…

BUT KEN SHAMROCK WRAPS AROUND THE BACK OF JARRETT…

SHAMROCK WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX ON JARRETT ON THE HARD CONCRETE FLOOR!!!

The Asylum loves the chaos as Shamrock and Ekmo pick up Ron and Don and slide them back inside the ring!

Ekmo and Shamrock team up for a brief moment, putting the boots to Ron and Don! Jarrett tries to slither around on the outside, but Mike Awesome has recovered! Awesome is able to get his hands on Jarrett…

AWESOME TOSSES JARRETT THROAT-FIRST ONTO THE STEEL GUARD RAIL!!!

The reigning NWA Champion isn’t done on the outside as he tells West and Tenay to “get the fuck out of my way!”

Awesome then picks up Jarrett, looking to AWESOME BOMB HIM THROUGH THE ANNOUNCER’S TABLE…

BUT ROADHOUSE JAMES EMERGES FROM OUT OF NOWHERE AND CHOP BLOCKS MIKE AWESOME!!!

James then tosses in a pair of brass knuckles to Ron Harris, who is conveniently lying on the mat right next to James.

Shamrock notices the brass knucks and immediately jolts over to Ron, and wrestles away the brass knuckles from him!

On the other side of the ring, Ekmo takes care of Don Harris and drops him over the ropes and to the floor!!

9:00PM hits on the Eastern seaboard as the screen dims, before vibrant yellow, gold, red and black strokes fill the shot. The TNA logo pops up before we fade inside THE ASYLUM- where over a thousand rabid fans are on their feet, shouting “TNA! TNA!” at the top of their lungs!

The TNA girls dance at the top of the entrance way, still in their USA themed outfits! The raucous Asylum crowd is READY for tonight, after what was an incredible show last week!

Speaking of last week, we then get a few highlights from the show, but none bigger than the surprise debut of SCOTT HALL! We see Hall giving Jeff Jarrett The Outsider’s Edge before we fade down…

…To Don West and “Professor” Mike Tenay! West and Tenay run down tonight’s MASSIVE card, which will feature a wild X-Division Six Man Tag featuring all six competitors for next week’s Ultimate X Match! Also, Vampiro takes on D’Lo Brown in a NO DQ Match! Shane Douglas and Monty Brown FINALLY lock up inside the squared circle! Terry Funk picks Steve Corino’s opponent! And last, but certainly not least, NWA Champion Mike Awesome makes his first defense as he takes on Ekmo and Ken Shamrock! THIS IS TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION!!!

We kick off the show with a bang, as we are greeted by SCOTT HALL’S MUSIC! The Asylum goes CRAZY for Hall, who slaps the fans hands as he slides into the ring, mic in hand. Hall seems grateful for the response he is getting, and it takes him a minute to get his words out…

“HEY YO!”

The Asylum ERUPTS at Hall’s signature line!

“You all know who I am…and you all know why I am here! I’m here in TNA because I saw what this place can become, and I want to help bring this place to new heights, mang…”

The Asylum cheers once again for Hall…

“But there seems to be somebody in my way, and we all know who it is…Jeff Jarrett! Jeff, I just wanted to let you know that tonight, after me and my buddy Ron Killings send you and Roadhouse James packing, I better not see your face trying to poke into my business again!”

Boos reign down at the thought of Jeff Jarrett…

“Tonight, Jeff Jarrett…you’re a marked man…and I plan on doing to you what I did last week…and that’s leave you lying on this mat, not able to get up!”

Hall drops the mic and interacts with The Asylum as West and Tenay hype up Scott Hall, who will be debuting later on tonight alongside Ron Killings as they go up against Jeff Jarrett and Roadhouse James!

Following Scott Hall’s warning to Jeff Jarrett, we stay with West and Tenay as they begin to hype up our opening contest, which will feature ALL SIX COMPETITORS for next week’s HUGE ULTIMATE X MATCH!!

Match 1- Six Man Tag Match
Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels & Amazing Red vs. AJ Styles, Kid Kash & EZ Money

All six of these men will be in ULTIMATE X next week! Referee Rudy Charles has been instructed by TNA Management to just let these six go, as we see a precursor to next week!

And off they go! All six meet in the center of the ring, trading blows! Lynn on Styles, Red on Kash, Daniels on Money! After a barrage of punches thrown, Red sprints to the top rope, leaps off-latching onto Kid Kash…

RED SPINS AROUND WITH KASH IN THE TORNADO DDT POSITION…WHILE KICKING AJ STYLES AND EZ MONEY BEFORE HITTING THE TORNADO DDT ON KID KASH!!!

The Asylum goes crazy for the move, as it was something straight out of an action-scene!

Kash, Styles and EZ Money find themselves on the outside floor, while Lynn, Daniels and Red look out from inside the ring….

ALL THREE RUN FORWARD…

LYNN, DANIELS AND RED SKY OVER THE TOP ROPE ONTO EVERYBODY AT RINGSIDE!!!

All three men are right back up as they begin to take the action to the outside!

The match progresses as Styles gets his comeuppance with a suplex to Amazing Red on the apron, while Daniels hits a MOONSAULT on Kid Kash!

Jerry Lynn has EZ Money inside the ring where he puts the boots to him!

Lynn and Money fight on one side while Styles has Red under control on the opposite side. Daniels and Kash are still down on the outside…

AJ STYLES WITH A PELE KICK TO JERRY LYNN!!!

AJ then shifts his attention towards Kid Kash…He drills him in the gut…

STYLES CLASH TO KID KASH!!!

AJ Styles stands tall inside the ring as The Asylum shower him with boos! He had the spotlight stolen from him, so he had to make himself look good following the loss!!!

With AJ standing tall, he signals for the X-Title around his waist, and we are now FULL SPEEED AHEAD towards next week- with ULTIMATE X!!!!

We head to the back where we see KEN SHAMROCK sitting in his dressing room, taping up his wrists, getting in the zone for tonight’s HUGE MAIN EVENT against NWA Champion Mike Awesome and Ekmo! As Shamrock tapes up his wrists…

DON CALLIS emerges into the shot! Callis, clipboard in hand, looks down at Shamrock, offering his hand…

“Mr. Shamrock, I just want you to know how much I love your style of wrestling. I really think you’ll be walking out of here tonight as NWA Champion…If you had a brief minute we could talk…”

Shamrock finally looks up from taping his wrists and stares a hole through Don Callis…

“You have exactly five seconds to get out of my face before I put you to sleep…”

Callis quickly high-tails it out of Ken Shamrock’s dressing room, and it is made very clear that Ken Shamrock wants NOTHING to do with Don Callis!

We see some clips over the last three weeks of the insane action in our Tag Team Division! We then get the voice over from Jim Cornette’s announcement- in TWO WEEKS- on the July 24, 2002 show, we will crown NEW Tag Team Champions in a Gauntlet-style matchup labeled TAG TEAM BEDLAM! The rules are simple:

-Two teams start off, with another team coming out in two minute intervals-

-Only one man needs to be pinned in order for his team to be eliminated-

-The last team standing will be crowned NEW NWA Tag Team Champions-

Following the brief video package, we send it down to West and Tenay who begin to hype up our next matchup- AMW versus Roadkill and Doring!

Match 2- Tag Team Match
America’s Most Wanted vs. Amish Roadkill & Danny Doring

Both teams have not lost yet in TNA, which means SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE HERE TONIGHT!

Roadkill and Doring start off hot as they take it to James Storm, as Doring connects with variations of backbreakers and neckbreakers, before tagging in the big Roadkill to do some more damage!

Roadkill goes for a suplex but Storm blocks it, hits a headbutt, and then goes on the attack! Storm races off the ropes and goes for a shoulder block, but Roadkill simply stumbles back a few steps. Storm bounces off the opposite ropes and as he does, Harris makes the blind tag!

Storm races in front of Roadkill, off the ropes, with Harris behind Roadkill…

HARRIS SWEEPS THE LEGS OF ROADKILL WHILE STORM FLIES THROUGH WITH A CROSS BODY!!!

1…2….NOO!!!

The Asylum cheer the impressive table-top move as Harris begins to take over. AMW cut the ring in half, as West and Tenay make it a point to talk about how they have only been a team for a few weeks and already look like ten-year veterans!

Roadkill gets his comeuppance and tags in Doring, but Doring soon finds himself in harm’s way as he goes for a clothesline, Harris ducks and responds with a beautiful VERTICAL DROPKICK!!!

The end is near for Doring, as Harris tags in Storm who hits a HUGE SPINEBUSTER on Doring!!! Storm holds Doring up as Harris ascends to the top turnbuckle…

DEATH SENTENCE!!!

The celebration is short-lived…

AS MURDERAZ ROW EMERGE FROM THE CROWD AND RUSH THE RING!!!

Low Ki drills Storm with a SUPERKICK while Homicide SMASHES A TIRE IRON ACROSS THE BACK OF CHRIS HARRIS!!!

Homicide then swings Harris around, lifting him up onto his shoulders in an upside down position, and then sits down, jamming Harris’ head into the mat!!!

Professor Tenay knows all about Homicide, and says he calls that NO REMORSE!!!

Low Ki then stacks Storm on top of Harris, heads to the top turnbuckle…

DOUBLE STOMP!!!!

Homicide and Low Ki stand tall as The Asylum shower them with boos!!! They don’t care, as they came here tonight with a jail mentality- find the biggest and baddest tag team, and obliterate them!!!

Murderaz Row talk trash up the aisle way as AMW begin to move slowly back to their feet inside the ring…Murderaz Row just ambushed AMW, and with TAG TEAM BEDLAM in TWO WEEKS- Murderaz Row have just called their shot to get into the match!!!

We head to the back where Goldilocks is standing by with VAMPIRO and FATHER JAMES MITCHELL!! Just minutes away from a huge NO DQ MATCH against D’Lo Brown, FJM has some words of warning…

“Mister Brown…I hate to inform you…but you’ve poked the hornet’s nest with your blasphemous words of a NO DQ match! See, Vampiro was bred for a match like this…and a match with virtually no rules…well…let’s just say…you’re speeding up the IMPENDING DOOMSDAY on Total Nonstop Action!”

Goldy finally asks the question we have all been dying to ask- what exactly does this Doomsday scenario FJM has brought up week in and week out…

“Ahh, the question I’ve been waiting for someone to ask me since day one! What is impending doomsday you ask? I guess you’ll find out when everybody else does…”

FJM lets out a sadistic laugh as he and Vampiro head off the set!

We go right down to ringside as West and Tenay hype up our big NO DQ MATCH between Vampiro and D’Lo Brown!!

Match 3- No Disqualifications Match
D’Lo Brown vs. Vampiro w/Father James Mitchell

D’Lo struts out, bobbing his head, holding TWO CHAIRS- one in each hand! Vamps is out next and decides to not bring any weapons out with him, but known his dark past along with FJM at his side, God only knows what type of shenanigans they have planned…

D’Lo goes right to the attack, STRIKING VAMPIRO ACROSS THE BACK WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!!!

Vampiro smartly rolls outside of the ring and to the floor! While he is near the ring skirt, he pulls out a Singapore cane. D’Lo heads outside the ring with his steel chair still in tow…

VAMPIRO BLASTS D’LO ACROSS THE FACE WITH THE SINGAPORE CANE!!!

D’Lo hits the deck as Vampiro reaches around D’Lo’s face with the cane until he forces D’Lo to bite down on it!!!

VAMPIRO THEN SINCHES BACK, WITH THE CANE STILL IN D’LO BROWN’S MOUTH!!!

Vampiro smiles for the camera while D’Lo writhes in pain! Vampiro picks up D’Lo and sends him back inside the ring, where he connects with a spinning heel kick!!

Vampiro is in complete control as FJM cheers him on from the outside! Vampiro sends D’Lo off the ropes, but D’Lo leapfrogs over Vampiro, runs full speed ahead and connects with a FLYING CROSS BODY!!!

D’Lo is feeling it as he races across the ring and hits a big shoulder block!! Vampiro tries to retreat underneath the ropes but D’Lo grabs him by his hair, picks up the Singapore cane from earlier on…

D’LO FLIPS THE TABLES AND MAKES VAMPIRO BITE DOWN ON THE SINGAPORE CANE!!!

James Mitchell heads up onto the apron, looking to distract D’Lo, but this week, D’Lo is ready and quickly takes the cane out of Vampiro’s mouth…

D’LO DRILLS JAMES MITCHELL ACROSS THE HEAD WITH THE SINGAPORE CANE!!!

Mitchell falls off the apron and to the floor! D’Lo knows this one is close to being over!!! He sends Vampiro off the ropes and connects with a huge back body drop, and then places a steel chair over the chest of Vampiro!!

With Mitchell down and out on the ringside floor, D’Lo scales to the top turnbuckle…

D’LO WITH THE LO DOWN ONTO VAMPIRO AND THE STEEL CHAIR!!!!

D’Lo holds his ribs in pain after the crash landing, but musters up enough strength to make the pinfall!!!

1…2…3!!!

D’Lo celebrates on the top turnbuckle, as The Asylum gives him a loud ovation. As he hops down off the ropes, James Mitchell has recovered from before…

JAMES MITCHELL HANDCUFFS D’LO BROWN’S WRIST TO THE ROPE!!!!

Mitchell then lets out a sadistic laugh before shouting…

“DOOMSDAY IS UPON US!!!!!!!”

The lights inside The Asylum go out….

When they come back on….

RAVEN IS STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING…DOING HIS SIGNATURE ARMS STRETCHED OUT POSE!!!!

Raven, decked out in an Alice in Chains cutoff t-shirt, is holding a chair!!! He heads over to the corner where D’Lo Brown is trapped…

RAVEN DRILLS D’LO OVER THE HEAD WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!!!

D’Lo falls to a heap as Mitchell uncuffs him, and feeds him to Raven…

Raven sets the steel chair down behind him…

EVENFLOW DDT TO D’LO BROWN ONTO THE STEEL CHAIR!!!!

Raven then stays on the mat, on his knees, while Father James Mitchell and Vampiro stand behind him…all while Mitchell continuously shouts out “DOOMSDAY IS UPON US!!!”

West and Tenay don’t quite know what to make of what we just witnessed, other than the fact that RAVEN IS HERE IN TNA!!! He must have been the “leader” Mitchell spoke of for the past few weeks. Whether you love him or hate him, Raven is a serious needle-mover, and with Mitchell and Vampiro by his side, this newly formed faction called DOOMSDAY is poised to wreak havoc on TNA!!!

We head to the back where Mike Awesome is starting to get ready for tonight’s huge main event! He sits down in his locker while he starts to lace up his boots. The NWA Championship sits right next to Awesome, who stops lacing his boots to look at the NWA title…

Don Callis barges in, much like he did with Ken Shamrock earlier on! Callis, clipboard still in hand, is looking to talk to Mike Awesome…

“Mr. Awesome, thank you for taking the time to chat…”

Mike Awesome quickly cuts off Callis by simply holding up his hand…

“I didn’t take the time to chat. Quite frankly, I don’t know why you keep trying to put your nose into my business. I’m the damn NWA World Champion, and I did it on my own. I sure as hell don’t need you…”

Callis backs up a few steps, hands out in front of him…

“I just think…”

Awesome stands up and looks down on Callis, as he towers over him…

“I just think you should turn your ass around and walk through that door before you CAN’T think anymore!”

Callis heeds Awesome’s warning and quickly hits the bricks, seemingly making him 0-2 tonight on his recruiting trail…

We head back down to ringside where West and Tenay hype up our next matchup- Shane Douglas versus Monty Brown! This one has been four weeks in the making, with Monty POUNCING Douglas on the first two shows, while Douglas got his revenge last week in the form of a steel chair!!

Match 4- Grudge Match
“The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs. Monty Brown

Monty is out first to a big pop, while Douglas is out next, taking his time getting inside the ring with this jacked up former NFL player looking to POUNCE him into the seventh row!

After parading around the outside, Douglas finally steps inside the ring. Douglas slowly takes off his entrance jacket and folds it up neatly, taking all the time he possibly can. Douglas then hands it to Ring Announcer Jeremy Borash.

Borash begins to walk away with it, but not before Douglas shouts at him to “Be careful with that, it cost more than your yearly salary!”

Referee Rudy Charles rings the bell while Douglas is yelling at Borash…Douglas turns around…

MONTY BROWN IS WAITING WITH A POOOUUUNNNCEEEE!!!!

The Asylum erupts as Douglas falls like a ton of bricks. Monty quickly picks up Douglas, who is completely out of it…Brown speeds off the ropes like a middle linebacker….

Monty Brown gets his hand raised as The Asylum has come UNGLUED for him! He only needed two moves, probably only one if he chose to, to pick up his first official victory here in TNA!!

Monty celebrates on the top rope as Douglas falls outside to the floor! Monty came here tonight to whoop some ass, just like he said he was going to do, and followed through!

West and Tenay hype up Monty Brown, but also wonder how Shane Douglas will respond, as he was just embarrassed on National Television in front of the entire world!!!

Over on the interview set, Goldilocks is standing by with Steve Corino, Jack Victory, and Malice! Goldy asks Corino if he has any idea who Terry Funk will pick to face Corino tonight…

“I don’t have a clue, and quite frankly, I’m just gonna come out and say it…THIS IS NOT FAIR! I just got cleared to compete right as the show was going on the air tonight…and I haven’t even tried to move my wrist!”

Corino shakes his head, grabbing at his hair as he continues…

“Terry Funk, I only have a problem with you! And it’s a big problem! So, you can hide behind Jim Cornette tonight and send the boogeyman out to get me, but just know this…We are far from finished, and after this little show you’re about to put on with your big mystery man…I will still be hunting your old, washed up ass, and I still GUARANTEE I will send you to the retirement home for good when I’m done with you!”

Corino storms off as Jack Victory and Malice follow suit behind, as we all wait in anticipation for who Terry Funk has chosen to be Steve Corino’s opponent!!

Steve Corino heads on out, mad at the world. He is still sporting a large cast on his wrist, which the camera zooms in on to see that Jack Victory and Malice have both signed. Isn’t that nice!

Terry Funk emerges next to a HUGE OVATION from The Asylum! Funk still has his head bandaged up, and walks with more of a limp than usual as he heads down the entrance ramp and stops at the bottom. He looks up at Steve Corino and smiles…

“ENTER SANDMAN” hits AND THE ASYLUM LOSES ITS SHIT!!!!!

The camera pans around as we all know who Terry Funk has chosen…

IT’S THE SANDMAN!!!!

The Sandman enters through the heart of The Asylum, who all sing every word to his entrance music…as Sandman drinks a beer, smokes a cigarette, and smashes himself over the head with the empty can!

Sandman eventually hops over the steel guard rail…

AND IMMEDIATELY CANES JACK VICTORY ACROSS THE HEAD!!!

Malice runs at Sandman, but he is ready and lifts the big guy up…

MALICE GOES HEAD FIRST OVER THE STEEL GUARD RAIL INTO THE FRONT ROW!!!!

Sandman then stops, takes another drag from his cigarette, and looks into the ring at Steve Corino with a big smile! He nods over to Terry Funk, who nods back!

Match 5- Terry Funk Chooses Steve Corino’s Opponent
Steve Corino vs. The Sandman

With Malice and Jack Victory neutralized, Corino is ALL ALONE!! Sandman charges into the ring and swings his cane wildly through the air in the direction of Corino, but Corino ducks!

Corino goes for a clothesline but Sandman ducks, then turns around…

SANDMAN DRILLS CORINO ACROSS THE HEAD WITH THE CANE!!!

Corino hits the deck and falls to the outside, where Sandman gladly follows suit. Sandman slams Corino’s face off of the announcer’s desk before throwing him into the ring apron!

Sandman then grabs a table from underneath the ring and slides it into the ring. He goes over to Corino and bashes him in the head once more before sliding him back in!

Sandman sets up the table, and then heads over to Corino, who is WAY out of it by this point!

WHITE-RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP!!!

Sandman can easily pin Corino, who begins to hold his wrist, already having an excuse as to why he is about to lose. Sandman places the fallen Corino on the table, and then shouts for Ol Funker to toss him a chair! Funk gladly obliges as Sandman climbs to the top rope…

Corino got the brunt of everything, as the chair underneath Sandman just CRUSHED his ribs!!!

Terry Funk heads inside the ring to celebrate with his hardcore pal as the two share a beer! Steve Corino is helped to the floor by Jack Victory, who sold the cane shot like he got hit in the head with a brick! Malice finally makes it over the steel guard rail, as the three lick their wounds and retreat up the entrance ramp!!

Inside the ring, it’s all celebrations for Sandman and Funk…but Steve Corino was very clear before the match…his only problem is with Terry Funk…and soon, the two will eventually have to settle their differences once and for all inside a TNA ring!!

Ekmo is warming up in the back, getting ready for his huge NWA Championship Match tonight when none other than….

Don Callis barges in! Callis, still holding that damn clipboard, walks up to the Samoan Monster…

“Mr. Ekmo, it is with great pleasure that I come to you…looking to help you out…Now just hear me out, please…You and I, we can go places! You’re a killing machine…and I am a managerial savant…the two of us together…there’s no telling what we could accomplish…”

Ekmo, not really paying attention as he begins to tape his fingers, no-sells Callis…

“You and me, and the other thing I’m currently working on…if we put all of that together…we will run TNA for years to come…”

Ekmo continues to no-sell Callis…

“Just think about it. Here is my business card…call me anytime…day or night….”

Callis hands Ekmo his business card as Ekmo tosses it aside, and continues to tape up his fingers as Callis gets the hint and hightails it out of Ekmo’s dressing room!!

Goldilocks is standing by with Jeff Jarrett and Roadhouse James! The Harris Brothers stand tall behind the two, as they are now collectively known as THE EVIL EMPIRE! Much like last week, Jarrett is already pissed off as he shakes his head in disgust…

“You know something, I considered Scott Hall a friend! We drove together for YEARS. I thought of him as a brother! And what does he do? He spoils my plan! See, I reached out to Scott Hall, I knew he needed work. I brought the son of a bitch into TNA! And how does he repay me? By betraying me!”

Roadhouse James shakes his head at the thought of Hall betraying Jarrett last week…

“Well, tonight, Scott Hall…and your buddy Ron Killings…I’m gonna show you both what happens when YOU PISS ME OFF! And after I blast you both over the head with a guitar, you’re gonna remember who is really in power here…AND YOU CAN ALL CHOKE ON THAT!”

Match 6- Tag Team Match
Scott Hall & Ron Killings vs. Jeff Jarrett & Roadhouse James

Killings and James start things off, with Killings getting the upper hand early on! James goes for a suplex but Killings blocks it and then SUPLEXES HIM INTO THE CORNER OF THE RING!!!

Jarrett makes a blind tag, and lets Killings work over James a bit longer before he drills Killings with a right hand!

Jarrett’s surprise attack works as he saws the ring in half, working over Killings with Scott Hall’s patented ABDOMINAL STRETCH!! Killings tries to fight out of it, inching closer and closer to his corner where Scott Hall is waiting for the hot tag!!

Killings is within fingertip distance when…

JARRETT WITH A THUMB TO THE EYE OF KILLINGS!!!

The move stuns Killings, allowing Jarrett to push him back towards the center of the ring! The Asylum boos as Jarrett points to his head, letting the world know just how smart he is! Jarrett then holds up his middle finger in the direction of Scott Hall! With Hall pounding on the apron, The Asylum joins in unison, as Killings slowly starts to get out of Jarrett’s grasp…

Killings FINALLY muscles out of the hold and hits a SPINNING ROUNDHOUSE KICK!!!

He is slow getting over, but eventually…KILLINGS MAKES THE HOT TAG!!!!

Scott Hall is in the ring, and The Asylum erupts! Clothesline to Jarrett! Another one! Then a HUGE BACK BODY DROP!!!

Hall does his signature pose before he races over to the corner and knocks Roadhouse James off the apron and to the floor!!

Hall begins to work over Jarrett, hitting him with hard stomps and punches across the back!

While James is on the outside, he grabs a hold of two guitars which are conveniently lying right next to him!

Inside the ring, Hall has Jarrett dead to rights! He goes to place Jarrett under his legs, signaling for the end…

UNTIL THE HARRIS BROTHERS STORM THE APRON!

Hall puts Jarrett down, Killings enters the ring, as Hall and Killings stare down with Ron and Don!

James slides a guitar in to Jarrett while he wields one for himself. He tags himself in while he is at it! With Hall and Killings distracted…

Jarrett and James charge with guitars…

BUT AT THE LAST SECOND HALL AND KILLINGS DUCK…

AND JARRETT AND JAMES BLAST RON AND DON OVER THE HEAD WITH THE GUITARS!!!!!

The plan backfired!

Jarrett and James turn around…

Hall with a BIG BOOT TO JARRETT that sends him over the ropes, and on top of Ron and Don Harris on the outside floor!!

James is all alone inside the ring, and after Killings connects with a TORNADO DDT….He sends the lifeless Roadhouse James over to Scott Hall…

Hall and Killings celebrate as The Evil Empire heads up the entrance ramp, much worse for wear. West and Tenay hype up Hall and Killings as a pair, saying the two work well together! For tonight, the good guys stand tall while The Evil Empire is left in the dirt, but knowing the strategist Jeff Jarrett is-they will soon formulate a new, and possibly better plan!!

We get an ULTIMATE X HYPE VIDEO PACKAGE!!! We saw all six men in action earlier on tonight, and next week, in the first ever of its kind match, the inaugural X-Division Champion will be crowned!! AJ Styles, Jerry Lynn, Christopher Daniels, Amazing Red, Kid Kash and EZ Money compete for a chance to have their name etched into TNA history forever!!!

Following the Ultimate X hype, we head back down to ringside as we get ready for our main event of the evening- NWA Champion Mike Awesome puts the title on the line against Ekmo and Ken Shamrock!!!

All three men stare each other down as the official bell rings! Both Ekmo and Shamrock go straight for Mike Awesome, who is waiting with knees and wild rights and lefts to fend off his challengers!

After clubbing Shamrock over the back, Ekmo wrestles Awesome into the corner of the ring! Awesome tries to back elbow his way out of the corner, but Ekmo strikes with a shoulder into the sternum of the NWA Champion!

Ekmo races from the opposite side of the ring…BIG SPLASH!!!

Awesome stays in the corner, as Shamrock delivers a vicious sounding KNIFE EDGE CHOP!!

Ekmo pushes Shamrock out of the way…and delivers his own knife edge chop!!!

Shamrock goes to push Ekmo, but Ekmo is waiting…while both men take their eye off the prize…

MIKE AWESOME WITH A DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE!!!

Awesome is back in control as he waits for Ekmo to get up…BIG BOOT FROM MIKE AWESOME!!!

The champion’s offense is short-lived when Shamrock wraps his arms around Awesome…

SHAMROCK WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX TO MIKE AWESOME!!!

Shamrock gets right back up…AND EATS A SAVATE KICK FROM EKMO!!!

By now, you notice the pattern…Ekmo turns around…FLYING CLOTHESLINE FROM MIKE AWESOME!!!

The Asylum is on their feet for the TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION we are witnessing!

Awesome goes for a suplex on Ekmo, but Ekmo blocks it! Shamrock then gets in on Awesome, who controls Shamrock by wrapping his massive hand around Shamrock’s throat! Awesome then controls the shaken Ekmo and places him in a DDT position…

FIRST, AWESOME CHOKESLAMS KEN SHAMROCK…

AND THEN DDT’S EKMO!!!!

Mike Awesome is an ass-kicking machine!!!

Both Ekmo and Shamrock slide to the outside to take a breather. They find themselves in the same spot at the bottom of the entrance ramp…BUT NOT FOR LONG…LOOK UP!!!

MIKE AWESOME SKIES THROUGH THE AIR, LANDING A SPLASH DIVE ONTO BOTH EKMO AND SHAMROCK!!!

Mike Awesome is on absolute fire! He soaks in The Asylum’s cheers…

DON CALLIS HAS MADE HIS WAY OUT!!! Callis, who tried to court all three men in this match at different points during the night, struts out with his clipboard in hand! Callis looks at Mike Awesome, who takes his eyes off of both opponents for a split second…

EKMO CHOP BLOCKS MIKE AWESOME!!!

With Awesome down, grasping at his knee in pain, Ekmo takes control of Ken Shamrock-tossing him into the steel guard rail!!

Ekmo sends Shamrock inside the ring. He hits a sidewalk slam, followed by a SAMOAN DROP! Ekmo then heads to the top turnbuckle…

EKMO HITS KEN SHAMROCK WITH A MOONSAULT!!!

1…2….NOOO!!!

Shamrock shows fight and kicks out! The near-fall unleashes something inside Ekmo, as he slams Shamrock’s head repeatedly into the mat! Ekmo then heads back up top for ANOTHER MOONSAULT…

Mike Awesome slides back into the ring, and while Ekmo is in the moonsault position, Awesome goes underneath Ekmo…

MIKE AWESOME CONNECTS WITH AN AWESOME BOMB TO EKMO….ON TOP OF KEN SHAMROCK!!!!

Awesome slides Ekmo out of the way and covers Ken Shamrock…

1….2….3!!!!

Winner at 15:00 AND STILL NWA WORLD CHAMPION- Mike Awesome

Mike Awesome is handed his NWA title as he gets his arm raised! Title defense number one was not easy at all, but THE GLADIATOR pulled through to retain!!

Awesome soaks in the cheers from The Asylum, only to turn around to see Ekmo and Ken Shamrock waiting for him…

Shamrock puts out a hand, much like two weeks ago, and Mike Awesome accepts the handshake! Shamrock exits the ring and heads up the ramp, pissed off about the loss.

Ekmo then puts out a hand, and Awesome accepts his handshake! While this is going down, Don Callis has snuck inside the ring…….

Awesome then climbs back to the top turnbuckle to celebrate with the fans,

ONLY TO JUMP DOWN…AND GET HIS HEAD TAKEN OFF WITH A LARIAT FROM EKMO?!?!?!?!!?!??!!

Ekmo continues the vicious sneak attack, all while Don Callis gleefully looks on! Ekmo then places Mike Awesome near the ropes, leaps up to the top turnbuckle…

EKMO WITH A MOONSAULT TO MIKE AWESOME!!!!

Ekmo then looks over at Don Callis, who claps his hands while he sports the biggest grin one could possibly have! Callis then hands his clipboard over to Ekmo, who SIGNS ON THE DOTTED LINE!!!!

Ekmo then picks up the NWA Championship and poses with it while he places one foot on top of the fallen Mike Awesome!!!

West and Tenay are beside themselves as they JUST CAN’T BELIEVE EKMO WOULD SELL OUT…TO DON CALLIS OF ALL PEOPLE!!!

The credits begin to roll as West and Tenay sign us off, and the last scene we see from this week is Ekmo and Don Callis standing tall over NWA Champion Mike Awesome!!!

Ekmo made a deal with the devil, and now has a manager in Don Callis who could possibly bring him to new heights! For now, Mike Awesome is still your NWA World Champion, but Ekmo is HOT ON HIS TRAIL!!!
