Bryan Caraway vs. Mitch Gagnon added to UFC 149 in Calgary

A bantamweight bout between Bryan Caraway (16-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and promotional newcomer Mitch Gagnon (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is the first reported matchup for this summer's UFC 149 card.

UFC officials today announced the fight following an initial report from Joe Ferrero of Sportsnet.ca.

UFC 149 takes place July 21 at the 19,000-seat Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo headlines against an opponent to be announced.

UFC 149's main card airs on pay-per-view, and FX and Facebook are expected to carry the prelims.

For Gagnon, it's a second chance at a first UFC fight. The Canadian was slated to meet Johnny Bedford at UFC on FOX 2, but the January fight was scratched when Gagnon was hit with visa issues.

Gagnon enters the UFC with six straight wins. He also owns eight submission victories in eight career wins, all but one of which came in the first round. His lone loss came in 2009 to William Romero, who later signed with Bellator.

Caraway, a featherweight semifinalist on the recently concluded "The Ultimate Fighter 14," apparently will drop to bantamweight. He made his official UFC debut at the show's live finale, where he tapped out teammate Dustin Neace on the night's undercard. The victory, which came a week after he was hospitalized with pneumonia, was his 14th via submission in 16 career wins. Caraway is now 12-3 over his past 15 fights, and the losses came in EliteXC (to Wilson Reis) and the WEC (to Mark Hominick and Fredson Paixao).
