I totally agree, unless it's a dusty finish I hate seeing Champions lose non title matches.

His beef sounds more with the non-title match concept in general tbh which I def understand from a real sports perspective but idk it's worked pretty well for wrestling for a reason for this long. But pure singles match losses should be insanely rare for your top champions I'd say, there's just times they can be fine.

Yeah I mean IMO every match a Champion has should be a championship match. I mean obviously I'm saying any 1 on 1 match.

This is fairly in line with my booking philosophy on things. The top champion shouldn't lose in matches against opponents where the belt is on the line except via dq or count-out. Otherwise it weakens your champion and therefore makes your belt look weaker.

Now there are times where this can work, but you don't do this every single week, you do it maybe once every year or so, and only against someone who *used to be* the champion, or against someone who you have pegged *to be* the next champion.

If you want people to believe in your champion, you have him win, and win consistently clean. Winning via dusty finishes consistently does more to hurt your champion than even if they just lost via dirty finish every once in a while.

It's NJPWs philosophy mostly too, I don't think those chanpions ever wrestle singles matches without the title on the line. That's why they spam the multiman tags tho
