Brock Lesnar To Fight Former UFC Champion Frank Mir

As reported previously, former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will be making his UFC debut on February 2nd at UFC 81 live from Las Vegas. He will be facing former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir. The pay per view event which is held on Superbowl weekend, is usually one of UFC's bigger events of the year (other being their New Year's Weekend PPV).

Lesnar left WWE after WrestleMania 20 on March 14, 2004 to pursue a career in the NFL. As many of you know that did not work out to plan so Lesnar spent some time in Japan wrestling . At the same time he engaged in talks with the WWE but did not return to the company. He then set his sights on a career in mixed martial arts. Lesnar has one MMA fight under his belt (June 2, 2007) against Min Soo Kim in a K-1 event, a match that only lasted 1:09.

UFC has made a big deal over signing Lesnar to the company. His fight against Mir is going to be the main event bout on UFC 81. Frank Mir, who has an MMA record of 10-3, was the reigning UFC Heavyweight Champion back in 2004 when a motorcycle accident sidelined him for well over a year. Since his return in 2006 his UFC record is 2-2. After losing to Brandon Vera in November of last year, Mir went on to defeat Antoni Hardonk in 1:17 of the first round this past summer.
