Brian Stann has been out of action since suffering a loss to Chael Sonnen late in 2011. Now, the U.S. Marine Captain is set to return when he takes on Alessio Sakara at UFC on FUEL TV 2.
The card will be the first to take place from Sweden, going down on April 14. MMAMatrix.net reported that Stann has verbally agreed to the bout.
Stann (11-4) had his three-fight win streak snapped at the hands of Sonnen at UFC 136, falling to a second round submission. The loss was his first in the middleweight division after dropping down from 205 pounds.
Sakara also had a three-fight win streak snapped recently, as Chris Weidman defeated him in March. Sakara is 15-8 overall with one no-contest in his pro career.
If Stann-Sakara is signed to the card, it would be the most high-profile bout added to date. Other fights scheduled for the event include Papy Abedi-James Head and DaMarques Johnson vs. John Maguire.
