Brian Ortega vs. Mike De La Torre joins UFC on FOX 12 lineup
A featherweight bout between Brian Ortega (8-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Mike De La Torre (12-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has joined next month’s UFC on FOX 12 lineup.
UFC officials recently announced the bout.
UFC on FOX 12 takes place July 26 at SAP Center in San Jose. The main card card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Ortega vs. De La Torre is likely to be part of the prelims.
Ortega, the latest arrival from the RFA promotion, makes his UFC debut with a perfect 8-0 record that includes four submission victories. The 23-year-old Californian was slated to fight Diego Brandao this past month at the TUF Brazil 3 Finale, but an injury to his opponent forced the bout’s cancellation. Instead, the RFA and RTC champion now makes his UFC debut in his home state.
De La Torre, a member of Arizona’s MMA Lab, recently made his UFC debut after a 6-1 run on the regional circuit. However, in his first UFC fight, he suffered a split-decision loss to veteran Mark Bocek at the TUF Nations Finale. The 27-year-old owns 11 stoppages in 12 career wins.
