Bret Hart is believed to have signed a deal with WWE that prevents him from appearing in AEW.

Hart is advertised to be in FTR's corner for a Big Time Wrestling show on June 10. He is not expected to play the same role in AEW, however. Our own Dave Meltzer reported in Friday's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Hart is believed to have signed a deal with WWE that prevents him from appearing in AEW but allows him to take independent bookings.

"The reason this is on an indie show and not AEW is that those in AEW are of the belief that Hart quietly signed a lucrative WWE deal that would ban him from appearing on AEW shows. But he is allowed to do indie shows, so that loophole allowed this to happen," Meltzer wrote.

FTR with Hart in their corner will face Brock Anderson and Brian Pillman Jr. with Arn Anderson on the show from Webster, Massachusetts.

Hart's deal with WWE will prevent him from playing a role in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament as well.

The 64-year-old also plans on slowing down public appearances and autograph events most likely by the end of the year. The exception would be for any event he thinks would be particularly fun to do. Hart is also looking at writing a second book that would focus on his life after wrestling and what made him love wrestling as a child.

"The idea is to look back at his childhood watching wrestling and as an adult 55 plus years later reflecting on that period. He also noted that he’s really been flattered at what the top guys today like Reigns, Punk, FTR and Lesnar have said about him," Meltzer continued.

Lame, good for him I guess, but ya, lame when they are having a tournament for his brother.

How good is his relationship with Martha Hart nowadays? Would she want to have him at the tournament?

Still strained as fuck, sadly. Neither are exactly the type to let things go

That being said, I don't think Martha would have the cache to stop a Brett appearance, that would be a little weird considering its his brother and he has every right to be there. oh well, I just think with all the teasing they've done its a disappointment for me since AEW would have honored Brett's legacy whereas I really don't think WWE will give a shit other than to just have him under contract simply to keep him away from AEW.

obviously this is just my own opinion though, Brett can do and feel how he wants.

I don’t think Bret and Martha have gotten along for a while. At least since Owen passed.

But at this point in Bret’s life, he needs to do whatever is going to make him the most money. WWE respects him and his legacy so I don’t know why that would even be a thought.

He’s not wrestling anymore so him signing with either company isn’t that big of a deal, at least to me. But when he’s on television, he’s still going to be presented as Bret Fucking Hart.
