COLUMBUS, Ohio - An eight-year-old boy was hospitalized on Sunday afternoon after he was apparently stuck by a needle inside a northwest side movie theater.

The incident occurred at Cinemark Movies 12, located at Carriage Place at 2520 Bethel Rd.

According to police, the child developed neurological symptoms after he was stuck by a needled device inside the movie theater.

Police said the device turned out to be a writing pen with the ink cartridge removed, and a sewing needle in its place.

The device was left in between the seats, and when the child leaned over to talk to his parents, he was stuck in the back, said police.

He was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital, 10TV's Jason Frazer reported.

There was no immediate word on the child's condition. His identity was not immediately released.

Police were going seat-to-seat inside the theater to determine whether any additional needles, Frazer reported.

The theater remained open, Frazer reported.

There was no immediate comment available from the theater's management.

The child was expected to recover from the injuries and police said that they were testing the device and were working to determine who was responsible.
