While Brock Lesnar is hogging all the headlines with his high profile retirement and rampant speculation that he'll be returning to WWE in the near future, another former pro wrestler turned mixed martial artist is talking about a potential return to the company.
None other than Bobby Lashley
The prospects for a Lashley return to WWE aren't nearly as exciting as Lesnar, let's just be honest on that part, but Bobby was fairly successful in his stint with the promotion. He's a proven headliner, at the very least, and WWE is currently struggling through a time when they don't have many.
Here's what Lashley had to say to Slam Wrestling about a possible trip back:
"There's of course unfinished business in WWE, there's always some unfinished business somewhere, but I believe there's still something's to accomplish in WWE, definitely. I'm completely open to going back, I would love to come back and do something big if there was an opportunity presented, I would definitely consider it. While I would do it, if the chance never came my way then I would be completely content in continuing with what I'm doing at the moment and that's continuing wrestling and trying to become the best possible fighter I can be."
Lashley is an interesting case in that he's definitely got some value but exactly how much is difficult to determine. He didn't exactly light the WWE on fire when he was there but he was involved in some high profile feuds, most notably his program with the head cheese himself, Vince McMahon.
He also failed to make much of a name for himself in MMA since making the transition back in 2008. Sure, he's 7-1 but his level of competition isn't exactly jaw-dropping and his biggest fight ended in shame and embarrassment when he was beaten by Chad Griggs at Strikeforce: Houston in Aug. 2010. Lashley was so gassed after that fight, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
