MMAScoops.com is reporting that Bobby Lashley (5-0 MMA, 1-0 SF) will face another undefeated heavyweight prospect, the 5-0 Ron Sparks, at Strikeforce: Los Angeles on June 16. The two fighters have verbally agreed to the bout, with contracts expected to follow shortly.

Lashley was kept off two recent Strikeforce cards due to scheduling issues, and said recently that he'd fight every month if he could. "I'm playing the catch-up game," he said. "Some of these guys have 10, 20, 30 fights under their belts. I have a mere five fights. So, of course, any opportunity I have to take a fight, I want to jump on it."

Ron sparks doesn't look like very tough. Looks like he wouldn't excel in wrestling or standup but he has 4 TKO's but still... If Lashley doesn't do what he's done to everyone else, then he's practically a bust. Lashley's always been oversized and all he does is grope the guy and does his version of ground and pound.

Name Ron "The Monster" Sparks
Nick Name The Monster
Record 5 - 0 - 0 (Win - Loss - Draw)
Wins 4 (T)KOs ( 80 %)
1 Decisions ( 20 %)
Height 6'5" (196cm)
Weight 285lbs (130kg)
City Louisville, Kentucky

He looks tough but in the old days of boxing he would be referred to as a "tomato can". Lashley is taking the slow road through MMA. Not a bad idea. Not everyone is Brock Lesnar and he certainly wants to avoid the Kimbo Slice path.

I was stoked to hear Lashley was going to be on the CBS card back in April, but for some reason he never made it onto the card. He destroyed Wes Sims, that goofy blonde guy from TUF, and his past 3 fights end in the first round, which is very impressive for Lashley.

However this guy is 285? He is going to have a major weight disadvantage here. Let's hope he puts on another Bob Sapp performance in this case.

I hate the way Strikeforce pushes people. For their top draws like Lashley and Herschel Walker, they will put them against people obviously weaker so that they look good. It's a horrible way to book fights because you're just setting yourself up for disappointment when they lose. At least if they fight a top contender and lose, it isn't so bad.

I still don't understand how Brett Rogers got the Strikeforce HW title shot against Overeem tonight, which he lost btw. Why would someone who lost to Fedor be in line for a title shot? Another reason, in addition to that stupid ass post fight brawl, that Strikeforce is the bizarro world when it comes to MMA.

There's really no one else tbh. There's Fedor and Overeem as the top 2 HW in their division, and since Fedor wanted Overeem tested by his crew and Overeem said no, there was no other fight. This was the best they could do really. THat's the one thing about Strikeforce is that they don't have guys ready to step up. They missed by not signing Joey Beltran, who has looked good in the UFC so far.

See Kimbo Slice. That was a joint Elite XC/Strikforce fiasco. He still hasn't fought any top flight contender in their prime. Hell, guys like Tank Abbott never had one.

Which is why sometimes a monopoly of a market would be good because there would be no doubt left.

Wes Sims has been garbage since he ruined his career stomping on the face of Frank Mir an eon ago (he was winning the fight, a little random it ruined him.)

He's on my facebook, Wes Sims. He swears up and down that Lashley was dark choke(lol undertakers illegal choke in svr) dark choking the fuck out of Sims while ground and pounded. If you look at the replay, he has a point. I guess Lashley can try and say he was pushing on his collarbone and rode up but man.
