According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE Developmental coach Billy Gunn, real name Kip Sopp, has been fired by the WWE after failing a test for performance enhancing drugs at a powerlifting competition in Florida in July.

His drug test at the competition came up with a 37-1 testosterone/epitestosterone ratio, above the 4-1 limit, and he was suspended from powerlifting for 4 years. We'll have more on this situation throughout the day.

The 52-year old Sopp had been working as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. He's been seen on WWE Network's Breaking Ground program, in addition to this year's season of Tough Enough. Last week, Gunn served as a special guest referee during an NXT live event.

According to the Observer, the WWE wasn't even aware of him competing as a powerlifter, or the fact that he had a suspension levied against him.

Damn. Sucks to see him go. Best of luck in your future endeavours.

WWE's firings and suspensions over steroids are so bullshit. People who have been suspended return in weeks, people who have been fired return in months. When in real world sports, who actually care about steroids and not just their public image. People can be suspended for years. Look at A-Rod, what was it originally 300 games? That's basically 2 years and even the reduced 150 games was still a complete year. Hell, look at the weightlifting regulators, they suspended him for 4 years. Randy Orton failed the same test back in 2012, and was gone for like 8 weeks. That was like his 2nd offense, too.

They probably just gave him a momentary leave so the WWE doesn't get shit on them. I bet within the next year, he'll be back.
