Big franchises coming to PSP

February 24, 2009 - Remember how lots of people were saying the PSP was dead? Sony just gave them the finger.

Over in Arizona, Sony Computer Entertainment America is hosting its annual Destination PlayStation, a conference for retailers and publishers, and the company just announced some huge news -- LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm, Rock Band, Assassin's Creed and Petz are coming to the PSP; 2009 will bring an Assassin's Creed and Hannah Montana bundles as well as a new PSP color; and the Warhawk Home-space is launching this week. As of now, Sony's only releasing the most basic of details, but we're happy to pass along all that we know.

LittleBigPlanet Portable

• Developed by Sony Cambridge in conjunction with MediaMolecule

• New SackBoy adventures with the same play, create, share experience for gamers on-the-go

• Brand new levels and environments specifically created for the platform

• Set for this year

MotorStorm: Arctic Edge

• Developed by Bigbig Studios (the folks behind the Pursuit Force series)

• Set in Alaska

• Also expected to hit the PlayStation 2 platform in Fall of 2009

Assassin's Creed Portable

• Ubisoft's exclusive installment of the franchise

• Set for release later this year

Rock Band Unplugged

• Exclusive to PSP MTV Games and Harmonix

• The first PSP game to include a fully-featured in-game store for DLC

• Coming in 2009

Also

Assassin's Creed PSP Entertainment Pack

• Contains the game and a Piano Black PSP

There is also a Hannah Montana PSP coming and Petz for those who like that kind of stuff lol. Im definitely getting a PSP now. I was already going to get one just for Resistance Retribution and GOW Chains of Olympus but now it's confirmed. Fucking awesome. LBP,Killzone Liberation,Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops,Metal Gear Acid,Mototstorm,Resistance Retribution,Assassin's Creed,Rock Band,Syphon Filter, and many more. Fuck the DS!

The only thing that can save the Psp is a keyboard. If it actually had one built in. I'd probably buy one but I have the way you have to type when I use my bro's. It's annoying. But yea those are some dope games and should help the Psp.

It's about time they've payed more attention to the PSP.
I wanna see how the Rock Band game turns out. I think it'll be a success.
Same thing with the LittleBigPlanet game.
This is a great idea, because right now, I only use my PSP for internet or music lol

Sony is on the ball this year. All they need is a PS3 price cut. Bring back backwards compatibility, and kill off the PS2.

The PS3 already has a great 2009 lineup, as well as the PSP.

I'm actually proud of them. Also they are actually advertising Killzone 2 pretty well. Took em long enough to finally pick up speed.

Shadow of the Colossus, and Ico creator Fumito Ueda will also be at GDC.

I was mad when I bought the 40G and found out it didn't have backward compatibility.

But this news sounds good. My sister has been debating on whether to get a PSP or a DS, with this news after I tell her, she may go with the PSP.

Assassin's Creed PSP: Many people hated the PS3/360/PC Assassin's Creed. I liked it. The game can work well on Ubisoft. It can have an open world like Vice City Stories only with Assassin's Creed gameplay. Also I don't want Altair. Maybe a prequel with another subject of Animus that failed.

LittleBigPlanet PSP: I'm imagining LittleBigPlanet with lots of stuff cut out. It will be interesting to see how they pull off the PLAY.CREATE.SHARE thing.

Rock Band PSP: I've seen Guitar do fairly well on the DS. Also that other PSP game DJ Max Hero or whatever worked well. Rock Band for PSP will be ok

Artic Edge: Most racing games work well on PSP. I'd still prefer Gran Turismo Portable.

PS3 2009/2010: Killzone 2, Infamous, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank Future 2, Heavy Rain, MAG, God of War 3, Team ICO's 3rd game, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Final Fantasy XIII(exclusive in Japan), Gran Turismo 5, White Knight Chronicles, and BlazBlue(fighting game i've been waiting on)

PSP 2009/2010: Resistance Retribution, Persona 1 Remake, Star Ocean Second Departure, Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Dissidia Final Fantasy, Disgaea 2 Portable, Assassin's Creed, Artic Edge, LittleBigPlanet, Rock Band 2, Gran Turismo Portable, and Final Fantasy Agito XIII.

Also their are many more games that could be announced like Dark Cloud 3, Jak PS3, Sly Cooper PS3, Portable Ops 2, and i'll dream forever for Legend of Dragoon 2, and many more unheard of games.

Then there is the possibility of a PS3 price cut in April.

Sony really is making a comeback. Much better then that shit Sony back in 2006/2007.

The first AC to go to portable systems didnt do so well but that was the DS so I hope this one turns out better. And who ever hated AC should go die.

Overall it sounds like I will be dusting off my psp updating my hacker firmware and will use it again.

Altair is my favorite new character this gen. He's a badass, and Ubisoft really gave him a lot of depth. He probably won't return in the sequel. He'll be fused with Desmond.

I need to dust mine off as well. Haven't touched my red God of War PSP in months.

$250 is my limit. A PSP should not cost more then an Arcade 360, or a Wii anyway. I'll be damned if its $300 or above

Whether it be a PSP-2 or not. Its still a handheld.

I really need a fucking PSP right now. Im really craving to fucking play resistance retribution. It's my favorite online game and it's portable and the single player campaign actually looks incredible. I was going to get a 360 but even the psp is better because it has all of my favoite games portable.
