Blah, blah music forum, I really don't care.

So yeah, obviously there is a story behind most songs but not every song tells a story. Let's make a collection of the best story songs of all time.

This one is a cover of a travelling wilburys tune. I include this one because the Headstones are one of my favourite bands of all time and I dig the cover.

A little Tenacious D never hurts.

Another cover. As much as I love the Stones, GnR's version of this song is leagues better than the original.

Too $hort's "Blowjob Betty" (the original album version) is probably the greatest story song ever.

story song? If you can proclaim this as a story song.. I really enjoy listening to Pink Floyd's Another Brick In The Wall

Also Space Oddity by David Bowie, and finally Immortal Technique's Dance With The Devil

Space Oddity, yes. Another Brick, not really. And I don't know the other one.

Post the song too!

Man, that Gordon Lightfoot song makes me sad every time I hear it. :(

^I just listened to it, its so sad :(

"They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters."

That lyric caught me

Opted for the classics, but both the followng are/were great storytellers:

Schooly D - Saturday Night
Slick Rick - Bedtime Story
De La Soul - Millie Pulled A Pistol On Santa

Siah & YeShua DaPoed 'A Day Like Any Other....'

Also...

'The Devil Came To Georgia' - Dunno who does it tho?

Devil Went Down to Georgia is a Charlie Daniels tune. The Primus version is pretty awesome.
