Bellator Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez will look to extend a seven-fight win streak when he faces Michael Chandler at Bellator 54 on Saturday, October 15th, the promotion announced this afternoon.
The event will be held at the Boardwalk Hall Ballroom in Atlantic City, NJ -- the fourth straight fight for Alvarez on the upper East Coast. It will air on MTV2.
The 27-year-old Alvarez (22-2) will be looking for his second defense of the 155-pound title after a unanimous decision win over Pat Curran at Bellator 39 this past April. He became the inaugural champion in June 2009 after submitting Toby Imada at Bellator 12.
He is undefeated in Bellator and has been a fixture there since their first show. His last defeat came in December 2008 via 1st round submission to Shinya Aoki.
The 25-year-old Chandler (8-0) earned his shot by winning the promotion's lightweight tournament earlier this year with consecutive wins over Marcin Held, Lloyd Woodward and Patricky "Pitbull" Freire in the May finals.
No other fights were announced for the card.
