Don't get excited, there's no news on it yet.
Nothing as been said yet if a sequel is planned for Arkham Asylum, but you've got to believe that one of the most anticipated games of the past few years HAS to have a sequel. Arkham was an incredible game, but came up a bit short in some departments. Mainly replay value, free roaming and length. It definitely more than laid the ground work for what would without a doubt be the best super hero game franchise around. So my question is this, what would you like to see done if they do indeed continue on with the Batman games?

Me personally...

-I would love to see a free roaming Gotham city, GTA style. Massive maps, tons of interactive environments.
-Anyone remember the game for Spiderman 3? How you could go around the city and fight random crimes taking place? I think that would be an awesome addition to the game. Little side quests and smaller crimes to fight away from the main mission.
-Arkham Asylum showed us the Batmobile and the Bat Jet. Neither of them were playable though! A sequel should definitely include the Bat Mobile as a mode of transportation throughout Gotham.
-More unlockable content. Just about the only thing that was unlockable in AA was the Armored Bat Suit upon completing the game, however you were only allowed to use it in the challenge mode...bullshit. More alternate bat suits, customize your own costume...ect

Makes games boring imo.
The only time it was done right was in GTA:SA and Spiderman 2.

I think riding/flying around Gotham City will get boring after awhile. After you beat the main story, sure their are little side missions and things to collect but after awhile it'll suffer from the GTA4 effect imo

Prototype's free roaming was good too. I beat the game already and unlocked everything and can still go back and play and just bull shit and kill people without it getting boring.

Yeah but it will keep the excitement up at least for a little longer than AA did. Also combined with the complete geek out factor of people being able to explore Gotham for themselves and fight crime...it would be quite awesome.
They could show your standing with certain gangs, how much they fear you, if the general public is afraid of you, stuff like that.
There's so many things they could do with Batman, just the dynamic of his character and how everything with him is a love/hate relationship.

And just a much longer story in general would be a plus.

Perhaps the option to go undercover as Bruce, build your reputation...

I guess its all a matter of opinions. I hate most free roaming games because after I beat the story which is all I care about and do the little interesting side missions, I stop playing it because they get repetitive to me.

As long as it's a changing, interactive environment, I have no problem with free roaming.

I want the next Batman game above anything else to have an incredible villain roster that you actually have to fight in different situations. They had a few but simply not enough to wet my appetite.

In no specific order I want either main or side quests involving direct confrontation against Joker, Two Face, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Penguin, Clayface, Hush, Killer Croc, Riddler, Harley Quinn, Cat Woman, Ra's Al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Man Bat & The Mad Hatter.

Maybe the riddles could serve a more practical purpose in Batman II, and after you find certain amounts they unlock more side quests?

Yeah, the riddles did nothing for me, same with the challenges. I beat the game and had no desire to do challenges, or finish up the riddles. I loved the game, it was always exciting, but after I beat it, like I said, I had no desire to play it again. They need to make the next one have some replay value, whether that comes from free roaming, or just putting another whole new aspect into the game. Although, I think with free roaming will come dulled down graphics. I think the reason I enjoyed it so much was because the graphics were like the same as they were in the cutscenes, you don't see that often in most games.

I found it interesting due to the fact I had no idea about Batman to begin with. Finding the tapes and stuff were also fun, listening to the interviews and stuff. Nice little things that made the game even more fantastic than it already was.

The interviews were an incredible touch, an awesome part of the game. If you were a fan of Batman The Animated Series you would have recognized some of them as lines from there. Also Mask of The Phantasm.

If they insist on having Batman II consist of the same style of gameplay with no free roaming, maybe they can let you choose whether you want to be Bat Man, Robin, Cat Woman or The Joker. That'll give you at least 3 different replays out of the game if it's going to be as short and sweet as the first one.
