Thanks to Ranjit Chahal for his help passing along the following newsbits:

Triple H has recently been in talks with Dave Batista in regards to a WWE return for the former WWE Champion. Apparently the company has been "very pleased" with how much The Rock and Brock Lesnar have been able to improve business despite the limited schedules they've worked. Because of this, they're willing to offer Batista a similar schedule.

The issue is really just coming down to money. Batista wants what was described as a "monster deal" to only work a few times a year and WWE doesn't see his worth as "anywhere close" to Rock or Brock. Another issue is that WWE does not want to risk completely overhauling their pay scale, if suddenly all the top guys want major full-time money for sporadic part-time appearances.

Obviously, there are many in the locker room that aren't happy about Brock and Rock working so little while making more than everybody else, but at least WWE is able to position it as The Rock being a movie star and Brock being a UFC star, and therefore being more of outside celebrities than full-time wrestlers at this point.

Nobody really sees Batista at that level, and word going around is that Batista is going to have to come way down on his money demands if he wants to come in. He's eager to return part-time and Triple H is very much in favour of getting him back in the fold, but as seen with Steve Austin out year after year, it's not always easy to get these deals done.

I hope he doesn't get one of those huge deals. Then we could be approaching WCW pay strategies which was one of the nails in the coffin of WCW.

I don't think he has as much drawing power as Rocky or Brock TBH

I'd like it if he came back to put some guys over, but he's not on the level of Brock and Rock, that I agree with.

If he comes back to the same gimmick he had right before he left, I'd find him more entertaining than almost anything on WWE TV right now.

Lol. He's nowhere near as big as Rock or Brock and doesn't deserve even half of what those two are making. Silly Batista is silly.

I'd love see the Animal make a return. He's accomplished more than Brock Lesnar so he is at that level. He won the 2005 Royal Rumble, so I don't know why nobody really sees him at that level.

What a dweeb asking for that much. Sure, he'd get a big pop his first night, but in a few weeks he'd be back to being regular Batista. He doesn't have anywhere near the same aura about him as Brock and Rock do, and he wouldn't draw anywhere near the numbers they do either. Go home Dave, you're drunk.

Absolutely laughing my ass off at how he wants a 'monster' amount of money, let alone the fact that he thinks he is even worth a 'monster' amount.

You can really tell which guys actually wrestle because they love the sport and which ones do it because they love the money.

Never liked Batista. Just another generic, roided goof.

He was a bigger star to the WWE than Lesnar was (although one kayfabe accomplishment like winning the Rumble doesn't add to much, Lesnar did the same two years previous) but Brock's success in not only the WWE but his huge success in the UFC makes him a much bigger deal to the mainstream as a whole.

I think Batista should get a lot of money since he WAS a big star and this was probably him just using clever negotiating on his part. You always ask for more than you know you're likely to receive. Same goes when you sue someone. I really don't care to see him back, though. A match with Brock or Rock would be nice. I have no one I wish to see him go up against other than that. And no, I couldn't give a toss about the typical IWC criticism of "putting someone over." Who is he gonna put over? Ryback? Not interested. No interest in seeing Ziggler or someone like that go over him either. Maybe a big guy like Reigns could work.
