Bantamweights Bryan Caraway vs. Lucas Martins added to UFC 170 in Vegas
A bantamweight bout between Bryan Caraway (18-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Lucas Martins (14-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is the latest addition to February’s quickly filling UFC 170 event.
UFC officials announced the bout Monday.
UFC 170 takes place Feb. 22 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Caraway is on a 4-1 run (with four submission victories), and the lone loss during the streak came via narrow split decision to Takeya Mizugaki in March. However, Caraway, a WEC vet and semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter 14,†rebounded less than two months later with a guillotine-choke victory over fast-rising Johnny Bedford at UFC 159. The win earned Caraway a “Submission of the Night†bonus.
Martins, meanwhile, suffered his first career loss in his UFC debut, where Edson Barboza made him tap out due to strikes. However, since the late-notice bout, the Brazilian has rebounded with stoppage wins over Jeremy Larsen, which earned him a “Knockout of the Night†bonus, and Junior Hernandez, which marked his debut at bantamweight.
