CMLL has announced that they and Bandido have mutually agreed to part ways.

The company announced Bandido’s departure in a tweet posted this evening. Bandido wrestled for CMLL as recently as April 3, where he teamed with Caristico and Diamante Azul to defeat Euforia, Ultimo Guerrero, and Templario in a trios match. He had been working regularly for the company since 2019.

Bandido’s departure comes as a long-awaited match between Volador Jr. and Bandido was finally held on March 26, where Volador defeated Bandido to retain the NWA World Historic Middleweight title. The match had been scheduled twice, but was delayed due to Bandido contracting COVID-19, as well as new COVID restrictions in Mexico preventing CMLL from holding any shows.

Despite the departure, Bandido is a regular for Ring of Honor, who have a working relationship with CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Bandido most recently appeared at the ROH 19th Anniversary event that aired on March 26, where he defeated Flamita and Rey Horus in a three-way bout.
