Backup Plan If CM Punk Can't Wrestle at Royal Rumble

Punk could return in time for the Royal Rumble, but it's still up in the air. The stars were aligned for Punk to defend his WWE Championship against The Rock in January.

However, the WWE does have another option if Punk can’t wrestle at the Royal Rumble.

The Rock vs. John Cena II could headline.

Yeah, I supposed we'd have that. Better than seeing Ryback vs Rock at this point.

At least we wouldn't be getting it at Wrestlemania instead. However, this means Punk would have to vacate the title, which doesn't sit well with me at all, even if it can't be helped.

I really hope that CM Punk does not vacate his WWE Championship like this, but since he is injured then I would understand.

It would be ironic and fitting that he goes this long (like Cena in 2007 or RVD with the TV Title in ECW) being undefeated and then has to forfeit it because of an injury. That would be disappointing, though. I want to see Rock/Punk at the Rumble.
