Backstage News on the “redacted” Match Coming to WWE NXT

A new match type is reportedly coming soon to the WWE NXT brand.

We noted earlier how WWE filed to trademark the “Iron Survivor Challenge” name last week. You can click here for the original report, and trademark use descriptions.

In an update, a new report from Fightful Select notes that the working plan for the Iron Survivor Challenge is a new match type that will be used in NXT.

There aren’t many details available on the match type as of this writing, but it was noted that the Iron Survivor Challenge may have some sort of “scramble” element to it. There are also other “unique” elements that have been pitched for the gimmick bout.

It was previously announced that WWE Hall of Famer & Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels will be on tonight’s NXT to issue a statement on the NXT Deadline Premium Live Event, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 10. This new report notes that sources heavily implied that Michaels’ announcement will be related to the Iron Survivor Challenge, but that was not confirmed.

It’s interesting that the recent Deadline promo features a count to 25:00.​

I was actually thinking the scramble match myself but ruled it out as I just thought they would go with the original name they used.

Almost reads like it could end up being a hybrid between an Iron Man and the Championship scramble. Person with the most pinfalls at the end wins the title rather than person who scores the last pinfall before time runs out.

I would personally never do that for a championship match ever but its different for sure

That being said I've booked sub matches like this for super low card titles in btb so its no undoable just not sure the reception that will get in WWE

The original scrambles for the hardcore belt in 2002 were awesome, when they brought it back for that one PPV in like 2008 and 2009 it was eh, too gimmicky for the main title. But it did result in that hilarious moment of THE Brian Kendrick having an unrecognized WWE title reign (since the title holder wasn't Champion until the time ran out)

I think Jericho also lost one world title and then joined a Scramble as a replacement to win the other the same night or some shit, was very experimental to say the least lol
