Back to the Future trainers McFly off the shelves: British rapper Tinie Tempah picks up the first pair to be auctioned for $37,500
The very first pair of limited-edition replica Marty McFly shoes from the 1989 movie Back To The Future II has been sold for $37,500 at auction to British rapper Tinie Tempah.
The 22-year-old bought the footwear, which was sold with a plutonium case, at an auction in LA last night, reported TMZ.
Sneaker and movie fans have urged the company for years to create the shoe, a cult classic worn by actor Michael J Fox during the 80's movie - which lace themselves up when Fox puts them on.

The reality, though, is rather different: these shoes don't self-lace, but thankfully nor do they require a wire down the leg and battery pack, as they do in the film.
They, do, however, light up with vivid blue LEDS in the soles - and glow for five hours per charge.
Nike will release 1,500 pairs of the 2011 Nike Mag sneaker.
The shoe was designed with Tinker Hatfield, the production designer who created the original for the film, and the glowing blue LED soles, which light up with a pinch at the top and glow for five hours has been described as one of the biggest technical challenges the company has ever faced.
They still don't self-lace, like Fox's do in the film, shrinking neatly onto the star's pint-sized feet - but they do look exactly the same.
'The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent Nike in the strap,' said a Nike spokesperson.
There are 1,500 pairs of the shoes in total - every day, 150 will be auctioned via eBay, with proceeds going to the Michael J Fox foundation, which helps sufferers of Parkinson's disease. Michael J Fox himself suffers from Parkinsons.
Every day, auctions will begin at 4.30am UK time and run for 24 hours.

The auctions will continue to run until September 18. Don't expect to have to pay out huge amounts for every pair - smaller sizes seem to be sticking around the $3,000-$4,000 mark, with larger-footed Fox fans paying more.
