According to Ubisoft they have been working on this one for 3 years. Set in France during the 18th century with hints leaked about also going to London at the same time (Jack the Ripper times am I right?)

Never have been a fan of Assassin's Creed but if it involves Jack The Ripper or Sherlock Holmes of some sort...... I have 2 play it.

Massive fan of the Assassins Creed franchise, but believe their latest two games have been their two worst. I have high hopes for this one and think it could play wonderfully on the Xbox One. I hope it involves far less ship-related stuff, and far more actual assassin-related scenes and storylines. I want to be an Assassin, not a pirate.

Assassin's Creed has been kindof a let down ever since Revelations, but hopefully they'll bounce back with this.
The naval missions were the thing I despised most in three and the fact that four was centered around them was very off-putting. I haven't even got around to beat it yet but from what I heard I didn't really miss anything story wise.

I stopped playing half way. Revelations was decent, but even that game was nothing on Assassins Creed 2 (best one), and Assassins Creed Brotherhood.
I will still remain optimistic though.

Personally don't get the hate for Black Flag. I really enjoyed it. From a character perspective it is arguably the best story arc out of all the Assassins, Ezio's is arguably better but it beats Connor and Altair out of the park. And it did what it was supposed to do well, set up how the world operates post solar flair/Desmond.

Apparently Altair will be a playable assassin; I'm not sure if it's for the single player story, or the co-op story, but I'm pumped either way.
