NEW YORK (CNN) -- If you've got it, use it! And that's exactly what Aretha Franklin did earlier this week in New York City.

She was out to dinner when she noticed a meter maid about to ticket her illegally-parked car.

So Franklin serenaded the officer and got out of the ticket, the New York Post said.

In exchange, the Queen of Soul autographed an envelope for the officer.
