Anyone else think that The Rock wasn't a great wrestler but was a better talker ?

The Rock is one of my favorite wrestlers and of course what made him stand out were his promos and backstage segments on RAW and Smackdown or pay per views before a match. We loved the repetitive catchphrases with the "Finally" "Whip your candy ass" "If ya smell what The Rock is cooking" and The People's Eyebrow but other than his famous quotes and mannerisms which was what made him popular, he wasn't the greatest while he was in the ring. All Rock did was open handed slaps throughout most of his matches and his suplexes and slams weren't very good, especially his use of submissions (he botched the Sharpshooter every time he did it) his selling was really good whenever he got beat up but sometimes he over did it, like whenever he does that ridiculous yet hilarious backflip every time Stone Cold did a stunner on him. I liked The Rock Bottom when he slams the opponent down to the mat after picking him up with one arm, but The People's Elbow was weak it was just Rock running and hopping over the opponent on the ground across the ring and bouncing off the ropes just to do a silly elbow drop. But he was still popular for the cursing and the stuff he said before the match on the microphone, (which I already mentioned above) so you can't take that away from him.

I used to think that until I sat and watched his match with Austin at WM 17 severely underrated. But the world wasn't ready for a heel Stone Cold

Most people think he is or is one of the best in WWE history for mic skills. I think most people say he was better on the mic than in the ring but that doesn't mean he sucked in the ring. He was just bland in the same way Cena is bland in the ring. Limited move-set with repetitive simple signatures and finishers.

Sometimes the less you do the better. Less is more. Every move Rock did was over. That is all he needed. Limited moveset is good when you are a superstar and your moves mean something.

He is more of an average wrestler with through the roof charisma.

His move set was fairly basic but he was good at ring psychology etc.

The Rock was a great talker and entertaining but could still back it up in the ring. Was he a ground breaking ring technician? No. I think he understood a good bit of ring psychology which goes a long way when performing
