Anybody here upgrade the PS3 hard drive?

I don't if I should get a Seagate or Western Digital. Any recommendations?

I never have. In general though Seagate has the better reputation for quality, however Western Digital isn't bad either. I mean maybe its cause I don't play my PS3 much, but I don't get what the point of upgrading the hdd would be? I mean I only have the 80, but that seems to be pleanty. Granted I do use my 360 a lot and only have the 20 and its getting quite full, so who knows maybe as I use my PS3 more it will become more clear to me.

Well I have a fricking 40 GB lol. I have room for like one game. Games like MGS4, SD vs. RAW 09, RE5, Bioshock, and Fallout 3 do some serious damage to your hard drive. I also have 5 first party games but there required hd space is nothing. Somehow Uncharted is like 20 mb compared to Bioshock which is 5000 mb.

oh yeah I forgot about the install thing. I remember Devil May Cry took up a lot too I think. Maybe I just don't have heavy games, but I never understood what the point of Sony doing he install thing for there games....the time it saves for load times is minimal.....however thats on regular load screens. I guess if it means not loading when moving from room to room on a map I guess then it makes scense, but I don't get that on a 360 so I find it hard to believe that its an issue for PS3.

Edit: Best Buy fucked up. I called Sony and they told me they don't give out hard drives.

wow Best Buy gave me(Not really me I wasn't there) a 160GB HD that isn't compatible with the ps3. The blueberry employees hooked it up and said that you need a hard drive through sony. So I called them and they said no. So when the hard drive got to my house I tried and eventually realized it wasn't a SATA. They fucking told me to get an EDIE and said it would work. Fuck Best Buy. Tomorrow i'm getting a new fricking 250 GB WD.
