It's about damn time. One of the best 155lbers you haven't heard of. Hasn't lost since a 2003 decision loss to Karo Parisyan. Yup, he's tough. Keep your eyes out for McKee.

fighter many consider the most underrated – and under-appreciated – lightweight in MMA today finally will get the chance to prove he's world class.

Antonio McKee is UFC bound.

The news was confirmed today by sources close to the organization, who told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the veteran has signed a four-fight deal and will soon make his octagon debut.

While the 40-year-old McKee's outspoken character consistently has drawn headlines throughout his 11-year pro career, he's piqued the UFC's interest with his most recent fights.

Namely, his ability to finish them.

After years of carrying the unofficial title of "world's most boring fighter," McKee, a former amateur wrestler, made a concerted effort to smash that mantle with two stoppage wins, including one that came just five days ago in front of HDNet cameras at MFC 26.

"Mandingo" said he would retire if he couldn't finish PRIDE veteran Luciano Azevedo in exciting fashion, something HDNet analyst Guy Metzger doubted he could do.

Early in the fight, McKee (25-3-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) earned a takedown and appeared to be on his way to earning his 19th career decision victory. Instead, he split wide open Azevedo's forehead with an elbow from top position, which prompted the referee's intervention in the first frame.

Six months prior, he took out another Brazilian when he notched a first-round submission victory over Rodrigo Ruiz at a regional California event.

The IFL vet now is now 14-0-1 over the past seven years with wins over the likes of Carlo Prater, Derrick Noble, Mike Dolce and Marcus Aurelio.

"It's going down," McKee today told MMAjunkie.com. "In the event that when I'm matched up with an opponent, I'm going to be tested, and I'm sure it would look real good to give me an opponent to beat me, and shut me up, (so the UFC) can kick me out. Or, I'm going to surprise a lot of people."

McKee said he hasn't yet received a timeline or opponent for his debut.

He deserves to go to a bigger promotion than MFC but isn't it abit too late in his career? Nonetheless, it was a classy move by the UFC to make an offer.

Not really phantom. McKee can still fight. The guy is darn near 40 and looks like he's about to hit 30. Age is only a number really. Antonio definitely deserves to be in the UFC. I was actually surprised WEC didn't snag him before UFC. I can't wait to see who he fights first.

The WEC and UFC are probably going to combine the lightweight division soon anyway, so I think the WEC brass is now focusing on grooming young guys that can blossom in the UFC.

He's still too old to mean anything anyway though. He'll never get near the lightweight picture, and he doesn't put on exciting fights. To me, it's jus a move by the UFC to show they respect him, that's all

Yeah, I think it would be best to combine the UFC and WEC LW division. There's plenty of talent to cause noise in the UFC. Plus, I don't understand Zuffa having 2 155lb championships when they've already dissolved all other classes in WEC that are promoted in UFC. Benson Henderson, Donald Cerrone, and Jamie Varner can all hang in the UFC, plus it would make for some interesting matchups. Thing is, if and when Zuffa dissolves the WEC 155lb division, what do they do with Henderson??? Do they just relegate him to having to win 3 to 5 fights before seeing a title shot, or do you Unify the Zuffa promoted 155lb titles??? After Edgar vs. Maynard would be a good time to do it. Ben Henderson vs. Frankie Edgar/Gray Maynard, sign me up!!!!!!!!!!!

To a point I see with you on McKee. Antonio has a wealth of experience, but he's not a finisher. 18 decisions out of 25 wins. He's fought solid veterans, but nothing like he will potentially face once he steps in the octogon. I see him debuting at a Fight Night or on the undercard of a PPV.

I would peg him around 5'10- 6ft based on the pictures i found. he did not appear to look like a short man. your correct, nothing definitive on personal characteristics.s
