Old eating habits die hard. Former UFC star Anthony Johnson (Pictured) has just missed weight for his Titan Fighting Championships debut against David Branch.

Johnson tipped the scale Thursday at 194.2 pounds, which is 8.2lbs over the limit for a non-title middleweight bout. Branch didn’t fare much better by clocking in at 189.2 pounds.

Oddly, Johnson still reportedly agreed to pay Branch $4,000 of his purse in order to keep Friday’s now 195-pound catchweight fight intact.

“Rumble†has now come in heavy on four of his 15 professional trips to the scale.

UFC president Dana White lambasted Johnson in January for missing weight in his UFC 142 shootout against Vitor Belfort. “The Phenom†came in on the money at 186 pounds, while Johnson weighed in at an astonishing 197lbs.

It was the third time in Johnson’s 11 journeys to the UFC’s scale where he missed the mark. The veteran weighed 177.5 pounds in his September 2007 contest against Rich Clementi and was 176 pounds for his October 2009 scrap with Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Both welterweight bouts were fought at catchweights based off Johnson’s respective weight.

White immediately fired the 28-year-old after getting submitted by Belfort.

“Titan Fighting 22†takes place inside Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Missouri. Johnson and Branch headline the festivities.

HDNet broadcasts the main card live beginning at 10PM ET/7PM PT.

Here i was thinking he'd get another chance in the UFC after a successful run in Titan Fighting Championships :fp:

I don't understand how an experienced professional fighter with a team around him can fail to make weight so frequently. How hard is it to weigh yourself in the leadup to the fight to see if you are going to come in on target.

I was actually wondering how long it would take before he missed weight... ONE FIGHT!

But at least in this case it wasn't just him but the champion as well missed weight which would have defaulted it to a non-title fight. I mean on both counts that is sad.. but for Rumble... he might as well become a light heavyweight that way he can make weight... well maybe... he might come in weighing about 215 for the fight.

Make him a heavyweight.

Before the story really came out, He said on Twitter that he came in overweight because he was wearing shorts when he stepped on the scale.

Johnson did end up winning his fight at this show by decision, and said afterwards that he's considering a move to 205 or too heavyweight.

Definately time to move up a division for him, 205 seems about right since he would only have to cut a little bit of weight, I fear that at heavyweight he would be out of his depth.

cause of his shorts? Dang... those would have to have been some really heavy weighted shorts. How would those even stay up?

How did he ever make welterweight?

Yeah, I know, he missed weight a few times there too but jesus christ son sort your shit out.

I'd bet if he had a fight booked at heavyweight he'd probably weigh in over the limit.
