Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort, Henderson vs Marquardt UFC 108: Well, it appears as though No.1 title-contender (25-7-0) Dan Henderson will not get a second crack at UFC middleweight champion (25-4-0) Anderson Silva yet. Instead, UFC president Dana White told the LA Times that “The Spider†will be making his return to the Octagon on January 2, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada, against none other than Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and Karateka, (18-8-0) Vitor Belfort at UFC 108.
The news comes as a surprise especially because everyone thought Hendo had earned the right to a rematch with Anderson Silva with his destruction of Michael Bisping at UFC 100. Instead, it appears that Henderson -- who’s riding a 3-fight win streak that includes wins over Rousimar Palhares, Rich Franklin, and “The Count†-- will be taking on (32-8-2) Nate Marquardt at UFC 108 in January.
After a long layoff, Belfort made a successful return at UFC 103, when he knocked out Rich Franklin at 3:02 of the very first round. It was his first victory inside the Octagon since losing back-to-back fights to Randy Couture (TKO) at UFC 49 and Tito Ortiz (split decision) at UFC 51.
