Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort, Henderson vs Marquardt UFC 108: Well, it appears as though No.1 title-contender (25-7-0) Dan Henderson will not get a second crack at UFC middleweight champion (25-4-0) Anderson Silva yet. Instead, UFC president Dana White told the LA Times that “The Spiderâ€￾ will be making his return to the Octagon on January 2, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada, against none other than Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and Karateka, (18-8-0) Vitor Belfort at UFC 108.

The news comes as a surprise especially because everyone thought Hendo had earned the right to a rematch with Anderson Silva with his destruction of Michael Bisping at UFC 100. Instead, it appears that Henderson -- who’s riding a 3-fight win streak that includes wins over Rousimar Palhares, Rich Franklin, and “The Countâ€￾ -- will be taking on (32-8-2) Nate Marquardt at UFC 108 in January.

After a long layoff, Belfort made a successful return at UFC 103, when he knocked out Rich Franklin at 3:02 of the very first round. It was his first victory inside the Octagon since losing back-to-back fights to Randy Couture (TKO) at UFC 49 and Tito Ortiz (split decision) at UFC 51.

Don't think so It was reported almost on all the websites.

On the personal side of things, I think this is kinda unfair for Henderson. He's been on a roll and rightly deserves a title shot. Belfort wins 1 match and gets thrown in immediately? Henderson probably feels he got robbed.

On the business side of things though, I understand the decision. Henderson will be outmatched everytime he face Anderson Silva. THeir contrast in styles helps Silva and I don't think the rematch's outcome will be any different and I'm sure the PPV will not get as many buy rates. Anderson Silva really needs to meet a real challenger or the Middleweight class will get stale soon.

Yeah, mthats kinda of true. But Its a good hype for Belfort he hasn't fought in the UFC. In like 5 or 6 years. PLus henderson faced Silva at UFC 85 and lost.
