supposedly "revolutionizing" the Women's wrestling division in the WWE?

Not to take anything away from Chyna or anything. She had an interesting wrestling gimmick and contributed to the DX and Corporate Ministry stable but I laugh at the marks all over the internet giving Chyna too much credit for "revolutionizing" women's wrestling because she RARELY ever wrestled women the vast majority of her wrestling career. When she did started to wrestle women wrestlers very late in her wrestling career(for maybe only 3-4 months until she was released from the WWE just several months after her last WWE match at Judgement Day in 2001), she never put any of the female wrestlers over because she felt that she was too above them.

Even Ivory(in one of her shoot interview videos) was pretty bothered by how snobby Chyna was towards all the women wrestlers and was basically being coddled by how she was pushed. Sure, Chyna inspired a few powerhouse-style female wrestlers like Beth Phoenix and Chyna gave us Victoria(Chyna met Victoria at around 2000 at some fitness gym and got her into pro wrestling, back when Chyna was still in the WWE), but she certainly did not revolutionize women's wrestling.

I feel like the people who have been giving Chyna so much credit for such supposed accomplishment, only do so because of Chyna's passing about 2 years ago and also because she was a part of the Attitude Era(The era that was supposedly so flawless to many that no one should dare criticize).

I don’t see how she revolutionized anything. She was a roided out, taller woman, who couldn’t wrestle very well. Sure she was entertaining, but no where near revolutionary.

I think it was more in how her character was presentes in that she, in a time where a roster of women were seen as meat, she was presented as a strong character who LITERALLY was on an even playingfield with men.

While in some ways it is different today and by no means perfect, today as some similarities in that female wrestlers, like the men, can main event and put on good matches.

the only time she was good was when she worked with men. Once she was in a ring with another woman, it went downhill fast. Most people say that she was able to "keep up" with men, but the way I always saw it was that the male talent elevated her to that point because the men she worked with were great at generating good television at the time

I think Chyna is an interesting case...she was simply
a "different" kind of performer in the right place at the
right time.

While she wasn't much of a worker...she had a certain
"Aura" about her...a certain presence that is hard to
describe.

I remember being uncomfortable watching her wrestle
the men...but she at least had the size & build to "physically"
handle it...although that segment where Jericho tied her
to a chair & "tortured" her was a little too rough for my
tastes.

I thought her & Eddie Guerrero had real chemistry when
they were an on screen couple...although the less said
about her "relationship" with Mark Henry the better.

I also remember watching Chyna wrestle some of the other
women in the company...& it just didn't work back then...
it was awkward as all hell really...simply because of the size
& build difference.

If Chyna was around now (In her prime...happy & healthy)
who knows what the WWE would be doing with her?

Maybe we'd be talking about Chyna vs. Ronda as the big
future Wrestlemania match? Maybe Charlotte wouldn't seem
so special? Maybe Nia wouldn't even have a contract?
Maybe Chyna vs. Asuka would be the possible streak ending
match?

Chyna was ahead of her time really...which is sad...but its
also what made her so special.

I don't find anything about Chyna annoying...
I simply find her story tragic.

And I don't care what anyone says...this is cool!

That's a great reaction...especially when compared to #30
at the 2017 Rumble.

It's not Chyna that I find annoying, it's her fans/internet marks blindly praising her as if she's greater and bigger than The Rock and Stone Cold and drew more money than them that I find annoying. They keep mentioning how Chyna "revolutionized" Women's wrestling yet they never give me an example of exactly what she did that made Women's wrestling division evolve so much(when she mostly wrestled men the vast majority of her career). They also praise her wrestling ability or skills(for keeping up with the male wrestlers, despite that it's just the male wrestlers making her look good) as if she's in the same class as Luna Vachon, Bull Nakano or The Fabulous Moolah in overall wrestling ability. No example or reason given to me by them.

Don't get me wrong, I still think Chyna deserves a WWE HoF induction for all her contributions during the Attitude Era, especially since the WWE HoF is filled with undeserving inductees that very rarely, if ever, contributed to the WWE or wrestling industry.

I thought Chyna was cool as hell when I was growing up. I was at the perfect age to think DX’s shenanigans were awesome, and Chyna was part of that.

Chyna paved the way for women in the WWE to be seen as credible athletes, and not just valets and eye candy. And for that she does deserve some credit.

I was sad to see her go. I was always rooting for her to have a shot at redemption, but she never came to.
