Alex Caceres vs. Mitch Gagnon scratched from Friday’s UFC Fight Night 33 main card
Friday’s UFC Fight Night 33 event in Australia has lost a main-card bout.
A bantamweight fight between Mitch Gagnon (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) and Alex Caceres (9-5 MMA, 4-3 UFC), which was expected to kick off the night’s FOX Sports 1 broadcast, has been scratched from the card. UFC officials said Gagnon is unable to enter the country due to visa issues.
The bout is expected to be rebooked for a future event.
UFC Fight Night 33 takes place at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland. The event, which includes prelims on FOX Sports 2 and MMAjunkie, takes place Saturday in Australia but airs live Friday in the U.S. due to the time difference.
Officials haven’t announced if a new bout will be promoted to the main card.
Caceres has won four consecutive fights (though one was overturned due to a failed drug test for marijuana). Gagnon, meanwhile, is looking for his third straight after winning eight of his past nine, all via submission.
