Following a story.
Mansfield, MA – The American Fighting Organization continues its 2011 season Friday April 22nd at the Holiday Inn in Mansfield, MA featuring a historic evening of 8 scheduled title fights as the AFO crowns its inaugural champions in its newly created amateur division.

“The AFO has been a longtime supporter of amateur MMA and we’ve invested heavily into developing future professional stars by featuring amateur fights as part of our undercards.†Said AFO President Pete Dilorenzo.

“Now, we’re giving our amateur fighters something to compete for as we’ll be awarding championship belts to Ammy fighters in all the same weight divisions as the pros.â€

At Night of Champions, 2010 Boston Herald runner-up for prospect of the year Ricardo “The Water Buffalo†Georges, a native of Haiti now living in Malden, MA will take on heavy handed Team Sityotong fighter Jeff Bermani for the amateur welterweight title.

Nate “The Snake†Andrews will take on AFO mainstay Thane Stimson for the inaugural AFO amateur lightweight belt.

In the 125 pound amateur division, Jared Sarno will take on Shane Decristoforo. More amateur championship fights will be announced soon on www.AFOMMA.com including bouts in the heavyweight, light heavyweight, bantamweight and featherweight divisions.

While the amateurs will have their night to shine on April 22nd, the pros will not be left out in the dark. AFO lightweight champion Luis “Rockstar†Felix will be making his first title defense of the belt he won via 2nd round TKO over the previously unbeaten Joey Proctor last November. He’ll be opposed by New York based journeyman Dyrell Walker.

Also, in a bout the vacant professional featherweight title, Ruben Ray takes on Lionel Young. The featherweight division has long been considered the glamour division of the AFO. Its last two 145 pound champions, Ken Stone and Jason McLean, now fight for the UFC and Strikeforce respectively.

DVD’s of the event will be available for preorder at the event, the events weigh ins and online at www.NESportsTV.com.
