AEW to TBS in 2022 - New TV deal megathread

Big article drop on AEW's long rumored 2nd television show has been revealed. In the same release, we are informed that Dynamite will move from TNT to TBS in 2022.

Article is rather brief but making the round on the usual internet circles. - THIS IS NOW CONFIRMED BY CODY etc -

- Rampage is the name of the new show
- Airing on Friday at 10pm (right after smackdown!)
- Will be one hour run time
-AEW moving from TNT to TBS in 2022
- 4 annual special Dynamites to air on TNT (Clash of Champions style?)
- reports of new TV deal (move to tbs, 4 tbt specials and Rampage) being worth in the ballpark of " 8 figures"

Right now it'sa lateral move, but it makes sense in a lot of ways. With NHL being added to TNT, they risked a higher chance of being bounced around.

Just fyi, this is a NEW deal in 2022 from what I'm seeing. So it isn't a demotion or a promotion, simply the termns of the new deal, it seems. Some other news coming out about money but I will wait for more articles (im not a WON subscriber lol)

as I was saying in general chat, this is just good for both companies. AEW gets potential smackdown peeps still wanting to watch rasslin, and WWE get AEW fans that may just be waiting for Rampage to air, and feel like checking out smackdown while waiting. Savvy move that is good for wrestling overall.

TBS is certainly a weaker station than TNT, but with that new NHL deal it's obvious TNT will be overloaded with NBA and NHL. This only makes sense.

it's one of those awkward ones where both have pluses and minuses imo.

TBS is in slightly more homes ( i cant find a good figure on this, im getting ranges from 800k to 2 million)
TNT probably has the better demo audience AEW wants, and has the more "good edgy shows" which fit in more esp for dynamite.

Agreed with those two sports, it was the way to go (NBA and NHL run at the same time, too, certainly going to be a problem for TNT themselves).

Funny they didn't put NHL on TBS though, as Dynamite regularly beats out hockey games in the US and I dont see that changing at all in 2022.

Certainly will be interesting to see where the demos are by then, i look forward to some more data on it

Well TBS rep isn't great I don't think, so if AEW can build some audience on that station they could be a big fish in a little pond instead of being one of three big fish.

They got Conan, I guess that's something lol. AEW would certainly be some relevant, youth driven programming for them. Lets hope its a net positive for both parties involved.

Maybe AEW can finally get that sweet sweet WWE's style 50+ demo
