For months, almost since No Mercy 2007, when he got verbal with Rey Mysterio, fans got more and more behind the idea of the return to the ring of JBL, and haters started getting used to the idea. And it all got more heated when he got involved in the Batista/Undertaker feud.
Finally, it happened, JBL returned attacking Chris Jericho. He cut a promo saying how he was coming back to main event, dominate, win titles and make no friends.
But has he?
He came back to a rather mediocre feud with Chris Jericho, only saved by his mic skills. It was the curtain jerker of the Raw brand at RR. He then was a participant in the Elimination Chamber, only to get eliminated first. He then was inserted in the soap opera angle of the Hornswoggle shit, and guess what, he curtain jerk again with Finlay. At Backlash, he went to the main event for the WWE Title, a place he was not built to be in. Now, he is in a feud with John Cena, which has been very unclimatic, including a match at Judgment Day, yes, another curtain jerker, and in which he was totally out of his style.
So, what has gone wrong with his return?
First, he shouldn't have come back on Raw. JBL is Smackdown, he was build on Smackdown with all the Batista and Taker stuff, and when he went to Raw, it all felt as a waste. Then, he showed to be ring rusty in the ring, and his performances have only been above average on the Chamber and on Wrestlemania, in which they were covered by the extreme of the match. And at Judgment Day, well, it all went wrong when he tried something out of his style and went for chain wrestling, working on extremities offense, instead of the classic, old school brawl, which suits him well. Mic Skills, he always delivers.
So, on your opinion, what has gone wrong with the return of the Wrestling God?
