A Rumble Through Time: The Royal Rumble Rebook

MOD NOTE
I have attempted this project at least twice on this site, both times I left a loooot to be desired. So I am going to attempt it a third time in a more detailed way, just two things to address before I start.

1. The timeline of this is from 1993 to 2025 at least
2. I will only be covering the Rumble matches, I will explain my decisions and why I picked different winners from the IRL ones.

Location
ARCO Arena, Sacramento California

IRL Winner
Yokozuna

Outcome
Won the title at WrestleMania IX by defeating Bret Hart©, only to lose the title straight away to a returning Hulk Hogan.

My Opinion
Why bother have the big man win the title, if you were just going to have Hogan win it.

What I would have Done
By this point Hogan had won two Royal Rumbles and by no means will he win a third one in this btb. So, I would actually give the win to the Macho Man who doesn’t try to pin Yoko.

Revised Outcome
Savage goes onto WrestleMania IX wins the title from Bret Hart, doesn't lose it to Hogan right after.

IRL Winner
Bret Hart and Lex Luger

Outcome
Luger loses by Dq, Hart beats Yokozuna both matches taking place at WrestleMania X.

My Opinion
Why have two men win the and then do two separate title matches at Mania?

What I Would have Done
I would have booked a triple threat match for WrestleMania X for the title.

Revised Outcome
Bret Hart beats Lex Luger and Randy Savage© who is still WWF Champion from the previous year's Mania.

IRL Winner
Shawn Michaels

Outcome
HBK versus the Hitman for the WWF Championship in an ironman match, which the former gets the win

My Opinion
HBK is one of those superstars that was going to win a Royal Rumble and I have no issues with it.

What I Would have Done
I am keeping this 100% the same

Revised Outcome
Shawn Michaels beats Bret Hart(c) in an ironman match

Outcome
HBK beats Bret Hart in an ironman match for the WWF Championship.

My Opinion
I liked this outcome and it made sense to give HBK a shot at redemption so no complaints.

What I Would have Done
Keep it exactly the same

Revised Outcome
Keep it exactly the same

IRL Winner
Stone Cold Steve Austin

Outcome
HBK vacates the title due to injury and eventually Taker wins the title and defeats Psycho Sid at WM 13.

My Opinion
Look you can't help injuries they happen, and I do like the Undertaker winning the vacant title.

What I Would have Done
Not trying to contradict myself but, I would change two things about WrestleMania 13. So I am keeping Austin VS Hart and Taker VS Sid, only thing is I would have Hart win the title not taker. So it's Hart(c) VS Austin in a Submission match which Hart wins, and Taker VS Sid in a Streak match which Taker wins.

Revised Outcome
Bret Hart(c) beats SCSA in a submission match to retain the title.

I have nothing to change about this as I liked the irl match

What I Would have Done
I have nothing to change about this as I liked the irl match

Revised Outcome
SCSA beats HBK(c) for the title at WrestleMania 14

IRL Winner
Vince McMahon

Outcome
McMahon gives up his WrestleMania Opportunity which leads to Stone Cold challenging for and beating The Rock(c) at WrestleMania.

My Opinion
I have nothing to change about this..................................Sike yeah so McMahon doesn't win the match. If SCSA was going to get the title shot, why not just have him win his third Rumble.

What I Would have Done
However I am going with Ken Shamrock

Revised Outcome
Shamrock wins the Rumble and beats Rock at Mania for the title.

IRL Winner
The Rock by eliminating Big Show

Outcome
Rock goes onto WrestleMania and loses in a fatal four way match for the WWF Championship.

My Opinion
The Rock was going to win a Rumble, it's just a question of when and where.

What I Would have Done
Rock wins the match and is successful at Mania.

Revised Outcome
Rock wins the match and beats Big Show, Triple H(c) and Mick Foley for the title at WrestleMania.

IRL Winner
Stone Cold Steve Austin by eliminating Kane

Outcome
Austin beats The Rock(c) for the title at WrestleMania

My Opinion
No complaints here except I don't think Austin needed the win at this point.

What I Would have Done
Austin ain't winning here, I would have Kane win it, because why hasn't he ever won one?

Revised Outcome
Kane beats The Rock(c) at WrestleMania 17, He has a dominate reign as champion.

IRL Winner
Triple H

Outcome
HHH beats Y2J(c) for the gold at WrestleMania 18

My Opinion
No complaints here.

What I Would have Done
Keep it the Same

Revised Outcome
Like Austin, HBK and The Rock before him, Triple H was going to win a Royal Rumble and he had just come back from injury.

IRL Winner
Brock Lesnar

Outcome
Lesnar beats Kurt Angle(c) for the gold and cheats death to do so.

My Opinion
I liked it as it was proof the company could make a new star.

What I Would have Done
I don't feel comfortable booking Lesnar in this btb given what is going on so instead the Undertaker wins the match.

Revised Outcome
Taker VS Angle(c) for both the WWE Championship and The Streak? Sign me up and of course Taker gets the win.

IRL Winner
Chris Benoit

Outcome
Benoit beats Triple H(c) and Shawn Michaels in a triple threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship

My Opinion
Before 2007 it made sense for Benoit to win, I do not condone his actions one way or the other.

What I Would have Done
I obviously don't feel right booking Benoit, Instead I would give the win to Booker T, and have T enter the match at the number 1 entrant.

Revised Outcome
Booker T gets the win he should of had at WM XIX, and him versus HHH and HBK in a triple threat would be awesome.

IRL Winner
Batista and John Cena

Outcome
The "Animal" challenges the "Game" for the World Heavyweight Championship and becomes the new champion.

My Opinion
I liked it given the history between Batista and Triple H.

What I Would have Done
I liked the completely unintentional double elimination ending of the match and I would keep it.

Revised Outcome
At WrestleMania 21 both Batista and John Cena became WHC and WWE Champion for the first time in their careers. So I would just keep the double elimination spot and have it be the ending.

IRL Winner
Rey Mysterio

Outcome
Mysterio goes onto WrestleMania 22 and beats both Kurt Angle(c) and Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship. Only to have him have a very lackluster reign as with the big gold belt.

My Opinion
Rey winning the Rumble was Awesome, what happened after made no sense to me.

What I Would have Done
I wouldn't have Rey win the match, given that they only did it because Eddie passed away.

Revised Outcome
I would have given the win to Orton and have him versus John Cena(c) and Triple H in a triple threat. With the Leader of the C-Nation pinning both men after a Double AA to retain the title.
