This is entirely fitting for our generation, and I'm okay with it.

Because it's entirely true, we look back at all of the man-made marvels spread across the world, built with technology we thought unimaginable back then (or no technology at all in a lot of cases). Generations hundreds, maybe thousands of years beyond ours will dig this up and not be amazed by such amazing works like the pyramids, or Aztec ruins, or ancient Buddhist temples still being discovered today in the mountains of Tibet. Instead they will unearth this monolith and think "....is that a dick with a butt on it?"
