5-Year-Old's Photo Lifted Off Facebook
Mother Wonders If 'Friend' Used Photo To Create New Facebook Profile
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Parents regularly share photos of their children on Facebook, eager to share the images with friends. They may not think about just how many people will have access to those pictures or what they may do with them.
A Putnam County mother learned the hard way that posting her 5-year-old daughter's photo online can have consequences."This is just creepy," Misty Guessford told Channel 4's Scott Johnson when she saw her child's face and name on someone else's Facebook page.
"Just why someone would want a picture of a 5-year-old? Just to even create a profile with her picture? (It) doesn't make sense."The Facebook page using Guessford's daughter photo was set to private, so all that could be seen is the picture and name.
The concerned mother wondered if the page shows more pictures of her daughter or other children.Guessford said the photo was lifted from one of her online photo albums, which are set to private, so she wonders if it was taken by a friend.
"Anyone who's on my friends list has access to my albums," Guessford said.
A number of people have friended the page using the girl's photo. Johnson friended it, but the request was not accepted. The family has asked the Putnam County Sheriff's Office to look into this, and Channel 4 has asked Facebook about the account featuring the 5-year-old's photo. The profile has been taken down....
