I was looking through some debates and discussions on the topic. I find it interesting based on the amount of people who seem to be drawn to this theory. Some of it does make it sound like it could be possible but 99% of it can easily be proved by science that the earth is, well, ROUND. So in the midst of the videos, I wanted to actually ask the reddit section for flat earthers the question I always come back to and that is "what use or gain would there be in lying about the shape of the earth?" and I spotted this:

I am not a flat-earth person at all, I think it's all made up to distract people from real problems...

But I hate when people just decide to ridicule anyone who has an interest in it, everyone can believe what they want as long as they are not trying to hurt other people.

Being a flat earther is basically admitting you are stupid. Hell get in a plane and go up high and use your own eyes. Or hold a plane (builders tool) up to the horizon. I worked with one a couple of years ago and he kept contradicting himself as well.

Theres basic experiments you can do yourself to disprove several conspiracy type theories.

I think it is starting to be like a "cult", at first yeah it was funny and they bring some interesting points of view but it is slowly turning into people really getting deep into this and they focus on that like it was the most important thing ever. Like I said before the flat-earth stuff is distraction from the real problems in our society.

I really don't know if I think that is what it is. I think the majority of people who claim to believe in the flat earth do not really believe it. It gives them something to argue about and it is sort of the fashionable thing to argue about at the moment. I know some people do believe it and they should be sterilized.
