Let me start off by saying I’m very glad that Chris Jericho is now a member of Smackdown. I think he did all he could do on Raw already. I thought the opening segment was solid. Edge and Jericho have to be two of the best guys on the mic in the WWE today. I think a heel Edge versus a heel Jericho can actually work. CM Punk’s face when Jericho walked away was classic.
John Morrison vs Shelton Benjamin
So they start off by feeding Benjamin to Morrison in a short match. Hopefully this means better things for Morrison on Smackdown, hopefully starting by a US championship run. Am I the only one who thinks that Shelton Benjamin’s time in WWE is ending? I think it’s time he starts searching for greener pastures. It’ll help both him and WWE.
#1 contender’s match
Rey Mysterio vs Kane vs Jeff Hardy vs Chris Jericho
This match was a little early. I would have thought this would be the main event. I thought this was a great match, with all the wrestlers getting their spots in and the back-and-forth action had me locked in to the match. No doubt the match of the night. Jeff Hard seems the logical choice to be the #1 contender, but it is a little on the safe side. Then again, it’s only Judgment Day.
United States Championship
Dolph Ziggler vs MVP
I’m glad MVP retained in what seemed like a good match to build MVP. Dolph definitely does not deserve the title. I do have a problem with that girl from the view though. I knew she was fat but didn’t think she was that fat. Why would MVP possibly be interested in a girl like her, even if it’s in a storyline?
CM Punk vs Edge
They let Punk go clean over Edge! I can see a nice long feud somewhere in the near future between these two competitors. If you read my previous reviews, you’ll know that I love run-ins right at the end of the show, and I thought today’s was played perfectly.
Additional thoughts
The Layla and Eve portion was dumb mainly for the fact that neither of them have the ability to put ona good match.
Is it just me or did Umaga look whiter than previously. And why did he attack Punk?
What’s with Jericho picking fights with everyone? Who’s he going to feud with? Morrison? Khali? I’d like an answer.
