2013 World MMA Awards finalists: Weidman, Faber, Belfort, Browne in multiple categories

Fighters Only today announced the finalists for the 2013 World MMA Awards, and a handful of names show up more than once in the 21 categories.

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman, Urijah Faber, Vitor Belfort and Travis Browne are among those vying for wins in multiple categories.

The World MMA Awards, which enters its sixth year, honors achievements from Oct. 1, 2012, to Dec. 31, 2013. Winners, whom are determined by fan voting, will be announced on Feb. 7 during a ceremony at Venetian and Palazzo Resort, Hotel & Casinos in Las Vegas.

Among those vying for the Charles “Mask†Lewis Fighter of the Year award are Belfort, Faber, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, middleweight champ Weidman and heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez.

The Female Fighter of the Year finalists include UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, Joanne Calderwood, Alexis Davis, Jessica Eye and Holly Holm.

MMAjunkie is nominated for Media Source of the Year with AXS TV’s Inside MMA, MMA Fighting, Sherdog and FOX Sports’ UFC Tonight. Staff writers John Morgan and Ben Fowlkes are also Journalist of the Year finalists with FOX Sports’ Mike Chiappetta, The Daily Telegraph/Fox Sports’ Gareth A Davies, and MMA Fighting/Fox Sports’ Ariel Helwani.
