In 1997, the planned goal of Eric Bischoff and WCW was to eventually split off the nWo as its own brand and not so much a stable anymore. Scott Hall has gone on record the idea was instead debating with your friends if you preferred WWF or WCW, you'd discuss if you liked WCW or nWo, re-framing the question.

1997 laid the groundwork for this between an early nWo themed PPV named Souled Out in January and culminated in a full nWo takeover of Nitro in December.

You can see the blueprint for this concept throughout 1998's entire PPV listing as each PPV was branded WCW/nWo SuperBrawl, etc. The idea in 1998 was clearly to have two distinct sets of rosters that started with the debut of Thunder that year. WCW wound up abandoning the idea, but kept the WCW/nWo PPV branding.

For fun and a possible idea for a future WCW/nWo brand split fantasy booker, we had Blaze and OMB draft for nWo Nitro and KIF and EC for WCW Thunder.

I figured with all the hard work (and fun) they put into drafting these rosters, we'd have a friendly poll to see whim the site thinks drafted a better roster. Adn while we have you here ask you how you would have gone about the potential WCW/nWo brand split. Would Nitro and Thunder have their own rosters? How strict would make the brand separation and roster split be? Would each show be as different as possible? Have their own unique divisions (Cruiserweight, tag team, women's, hardcore etc). Would you introduce a second world tile like WWE did with theirs? Would they have their own set of champions or share all the championships across the board with no unique belts per show or perhaps some will be branded while the top belts are universal to both brands?

Just for fun why don't you draft the brand split and tell us who you'd put on each show if you were charge of the whole thing?!

Whom in your opinion has the better roster in the WCW/nWo brand split? And how you would you do it better?

And what are your overall thoughts on a WCW/nWo brand split in 1998? They had one killer roster that year.

Sting vs. Hogan... Hall vs. Nash... Guerrero vs. Mysterio... Luger vs. Savage... DDP vs. Goldberg... Jericho vs. Hart
Jarrett vs. Flair maybe? The Steiners vs. Chono and Tenzan... Booker vs. The Giant I suppose?

Balanced enough IMO bc I'm a fan of the WWE strategy of having one workrate brand and one more star power brand and that's what this looks like.
