  1. Troy

    Box Office

Good start for it, never saw the first one. How does it compare to other animation films, is it similar in style to any other well known films? Okay start for Rush, didn't expect it to be huge in the US. Should be seeing it on Saturday.
  2. Troy

    Box Office

Will probably go see Prisoners when it is out here. Fan of Jackman and there is a really strong supporting cast plus the story looks solid. Wonder how Rush will go with it's wide release next week in the US. I am going to see it next week since I am a massive F1 fan plus it has Ron Howard...
  3. Troy

    Box Office

Fair call but there is a lot of rubbish that ends up on the big screen that doesn't deserve it.
  4. Troy

    Box Office

Probably more money in it for them going through cinema rather than tv, plus they can always sell the tv rights later and make even more money out of it. He is a bit one dimensional for me, he hasn't really impressed me with much of his work.
  5. Troy

    Box Office

We aren't really their fanbase and so probably aren't the best to judge. The part tour part behind the scenes info probably appeals to the pre-teen/teen girls that they mainly target. They seem like nice enough lads, happy to have a laugh and their personalities don't seem too manufactured...
  6. Troy

    Box Office

I didn't actually know that. For a second I thought you meant that Spurlock directed Instructions Not Included since I never expected him to be working with One Direction. I still wouldn't part with my cash to see it, they might have an interesting back story but I am not that interested in...
  7. Troy

    Box Office

It is in similar vein to what Bieber, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus etc did. It is footage from a recent concert tour plus there is behind the scenes stuff as well. Did alright to open with $16 million over the three days especially since this isn't their native market. Instructions Not Included...
  8. Troy

    Box Office

Such a quiet week at the box office. Good start for The World's End since it is running at so few locations. With You're Next failing looks like people have had their fill of horror this summer in the US. Getaway with Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez opens this week, have heard no buzz about it...
  9. Troy

    Box Office

What shocked me most was WATM dropping by only 32%, thought that would bomb. Disappointed Kick-Ass 2 didn't do more but then again the first film didn't draw that much money anyway, will probably do better overseas. Butler did better than I thought, must be this year's The Help
  10. Troy

    Box Office

It was lower than expected with the star power and budget, with a start like that it probably doesn't reach $100 million. It will need to be big internationally to make money for the studio.
  11. Troy

    Box Office

Weak start because it only made $30 million on it's opening weekend. It's budget is $115 million compared to $37 million for WATM so WATM did much better in comparison.
  12. Troy

    Box Office

Weak start for Elysium whereas We Are The Millers did better than I thought it would. Jennifer Aniston stripping in the trailer probably brought a few people in. With Elysium the concept just doesn't appeal that much and is one of those films where it is pretty clear the director is trying to...
  13. Troy

    Box Office

Not too bad for 2 Guns but with those two leads I thought it would start with over $30 million. Not really that much to look forward with Summer ending in the US, thankfully in Australia Pain & Gain and Now You See Me are out in the next couple of weeks so I can finally watch them
  14. Troy

    Box Office

I just set up a thread for The World's End, it opens in Australia this weekend so I will be seeing it as well.
  15. Troy

    Box Office

Weaker start for Wolverine than I thought but it is doing well overseas. Conjuring had a great hold, normally horror films drop like crazy in the second weekend, they have probably made plans for a couple of sequels already. Fun fact about Adam Sandler. Grown Ups 2 is his 14th $100 million...
  16. Troy

    Box Office

Far out that is a great result for The Conjuring, actually did more than Pacific Rim did opening weekend and on one tenth the budget. Just goes to show you don't need to spend ridiculous amounts on special effects to create a movie that people want to see. Shocked that R.I.P.D. cost $130 million...
  17. Troy

    Box Office

Granted I am in Australia and it doesn't open here for a few months but even looking around US websites I have seen a lot more promotion for the other movies that were coming out around that time especially The Conjuring. Looking at Friday grosses and it has completely bombed and is going to...
  18. Troy

    Box Office

A little bit funny that Growns Up 2 managed to out perform a huge blockbuster like Pacific Rim. It was really expensive to make so it needs huge legs overseas to make any money. I am glad that Despicable Me 2 managed to repeat on top again and that The Way Way Back continued to have a good...
  19. Troy

    Box Office

Massive start for Despicable Me 2, good to see another quality animated movie doing well. Kevin Hart had a big start since he was only in 876 theatres, I was reading that he financed the whole movie himself so he is going to earn a fair bit of money from this. Lone Ranger bombed and it doesn't...
  20. Troy

    Box Office

I never knew that Kevin Hart was this popular, through two days his stand-up film has earnt over $7 million and it could have over $20 million by the end of the weekend! Is he actually any good?
