7-10 shouldn’t be too bad for the rest of this. Hopefully.

The start time for the show was pretty good. Almost 500 posts for 90 minutes is excellent. I’d call this a big success. :goku

It’s a shame because a motivated Austin and nWo angle would have been a major money maker.

You can actually see his frustration is already there. He’s already not happy with his push down the ladder. Even though he’s used in the top angle of the show. :pour

To me Cena’s came from Austin and Rock leaving (his initial character was inline with theirs, almost a mix of the two) and Brock departing in 2004. Brock was gonna be THE guy and if Brock never left, Cena is never the ace. Rock not leaving I think hurts Cena even more than Brock not leaving...

Average, but still so goooooood. And I’m so glad I can say I’d watch this show over a modern SmackDown any day of the week. And certain somebody’s won’t give me shit. :proud

Yeah. Thankfully. I can’t stay up too much longer, but this was fun as hell.

WWF SmackDown! January 3, 2002 Live Discussion Thread

Trying to make Rock and Austin buddies just feels wrong to me.

Book’s has enough of Austin getting in his business. Time to make scrambled eggs of your noggin.

WWF SmackDown! January 3, 2002 Live Discussion Thread

Man was still fit af in his 2011-2014 run so I can’t see him stepping down from his main event position until even after that. Cena himself was in a top spot from 2004-2017 so I think Rock would have had that Uber ace spot. It’s possible they keep Cena and Rock on separate shows to use both, but...

Agreed. You can even get a midcard guy over if they look good with a more established act.

Same. I’m glad I’m not the only only one who thinks 21 starts a new mini era. I sometimes refer to this as the Brand Extension Era. To separate it from the Cena and Batista Ruthless.

And I say that not being a big Rock fan either.

Would have eclipsed Cena’s push by miles and who knows what Cena would have become. Probably upper midcard we with a few world titles to his name, but if Rick was around in 2005, he’s still the Ace.

He’s done very shortly after the split.

These are the kind of quick filler matches I miss.

If facts. Deserves so much more from WWE.

I honestly feel this early Ruthless Aggression Era is underrated as fuck and really feels different from 2005-2008 Ruthless Aggression.

Tajiri is easily a favorite of mine from this era.
