Is that the Alforson Curan film with Sandra Bullock in? I am a big fan of both so will be checking it out.

    Box Office

It had a very surreal look to it, but also had charming characters and some interesting themes. Will be interesting to see how they advance the story. In England Prisioners has gone in at number one, which is a bit suprising, maybe the cast were the big selling point, or maybe there just isn't...

    Box Office

Am really looking forward to this, the first one was one of the most inventive and charming animations of the last decade.

    Box Office

Rush might be decent as Howard can do spectacle well and Peter Morgan is a good screenwriter, but the story doesn't really interest me that much, so think I will pass on it at least for now.

[/B] You can say that about a lot of modern horror. I thought the first one was awful so I will not be bothering with this one.

Riddick looks awful I think it may do better in the US than the UK. Getting to number one the first week doesn't say that much we will see if it sticks. Looks like One Direction are sliding down the charts! (see what I did there?) they will do better in the UK I think. Looking forward to Blue...

Difference is I am not calling this rubbish just questioning whether its a proper film. Some of that rubbish you speak of at least can claim to be films, just not maybe very good.

    Box Office

Sure I know it is money reasons, I just meant as piece of cinema it doesn't belong on the big screen.
  9. Keith

    Box Office

No I get that we are not their fan base and the reviews at least suggest that this is one of the better films of its kind. I just don't think this sort of film belongs in a cinema, TV maybe. I remember being impressed with Pitch Black when it came out in 2000. Out of the recent action guys...

    Box Office

No I don't really see the appeal of these films, to me you either do a proper doc which isn't just going to cater to the fan base or maybe do a fictional film using the group (mind you there may well be plenty of fiction involved here). One review I heard of it just said that even if it is...

    Box Office

Yeah interesting thing is that Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) actually directs it, if there was one thing which would make me part with my cash to see it, that would be it. Funnily enough the reviews are not bad.

    Box Office

Thanks. Take it you are using the word documentary very loosely...

[/B] Is that actually a film or just them in concert? Yes there is a big difference.

I hear great things about that latest Woody Allen film Blue Jasmine a review I saw last week hinted that it might be his best film in close to twenty years.

    Box Office

Think that is Daniel's second film in less than a year. He also did that Paper Boy recently which looked really good fun and very different to Precious.
  16. Keith

    Box Office

Chances are it will do at least 50 in the states so I think that gives it a good chance of breaking at least even internationally.
  17. Keith

    Box Office

Ok but the next few weeks will tell the real story, it may still make its money back, it has stars in and I don't think $30 mill is a bad start. What might work against it is that it is a new story in an old genre, people like Sci-Fi but also they sometimes like to stick to Sci-Fi they know...

    Box Office

How is it a weak start it went in at number one? If you think Elysium has a weak concept check out the weakness of WATM's concept. And I do have a "how those sorts of comedy are sexist and how miss Aniston should be doing her bit to keep up the female end" rant in the locker, but I am saving it!
  19. Keith

    Box Office

Is anyone going to check out the Heat? Think I might as I really liked Bridesmaids and Bullock has always impressed me as a comic actress. Also didn't realise this but I don't think there has ever been a female led buddy cop film before, which makes it unique itself. That film and the...

Seems like Pacific Rim might do better in the UK than the States debuted at number three and only dropped a place last week, so far has made just over five mil, guess the next two or three weeks will tell.
