    Actually, the way the bill is written might be more problematic...seems like what will happen is companies like Uber and Lyft will instead just make their employees start an LLC for themselves. From what I am looking up Calfiornia tried to do exactly what this bill is trying to do at the state...

    The issue is that a lot of big box stores are exploiting the loose interpretation of independent contractors and are hiring more ''independent contractors'' so they can advertise their employees make a dollar more than minimum wage, but then only hire people as independent contractors and pay...

    Reading the article, I don't see how it's a bad thing. It should save a lot of gig workers money as companies like Lyft and Uber will need to give their employees W2s rather than the workers having to fill out 1099's. It should save a lot of people a lot of money from self-employment taxes
