Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

Bowfinger I did really like, but that was like back in 98 which seems an awful long time ago now. Have yet to see Tower Heist, but might check it out at some point. His best performance of recent times was in Dream Girls.

^ Next to Murphy's recent track record Cage's output looks pretty fantastic.

Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

Well I've pretty much always thought Sandler was juvenile so am not jumping on any bandwagon, but plain and simple his movies are not funny and he is a weak comic actor. Troy the recent Murphy films have not been big hits that is part of the reason behind the question of this thread. And...

Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

But if you ask Murphy he would say that as an actor he would always try to better himself and go on making entertaining and different films. When he was nominated for a award for Dream Girls I remember him claiming that he had always done deverse movies throughout his career, now I don't see...

Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

But why are we pretending like he had a long run on top, it was barely a decade, and when you see how funny he was in his 80s prime that is whats so sad. The De Niro example doesn't work, because besides Meet the Parents most of his other comedy work has been poor and his career has declined as...

Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

The differece being Shrek was good and NP really naff. That is a poor excuse the real reason is because he has lost passion and has just more often than not gone for the easy option.

Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

Sorry to say but he hasn't been hilarious since about 1989 and has been in far more than a couple terrible films. As for Transformers I think they really are dire, but to bring it round to the claim that they big, dumb and fun, they might have a better chance of being that if they were 90...

Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

Apart from the Stewart remark (I actually think she is pretty decent) I agree with most of that, althrough the idea that John Carter has substence I find troubling...

Why Does Hollywood Keep Giving Eddie Murphy Work?

Because enough people know his name at least for his famous 80s work, besides acting is a life time gig if there is work out there they will find something. I am a big Witherspoon fan it is just a shame she has done very little of note since the oscar.
