Tbf that's cuz 2002 is largely a very good year that was marred by the beginning of Triple H's reign of terror, but it had a lot of good moments and is still very fun to look back on.

Hey not every year can have winners lol

Tbh I feel like 2024 is closer to 2002 than any year in-between. Just good solid wrestling and great stories being told rn.

My favorite piece of trivia about this is that Vince didn't tell fuckin anyone that it was a work and treated it as if Trump really did buy WWE, and the company stock crashed so hard he had to come out and admit it was a work. :heston

As I've said. I'll take 1993-1997 WWF over 2016-2022 WWE.

But totally agreed and honestly as bad as 1995 is, I'd still take it any day over 2017.

    .... That was still 95. 94 was Bret/Yoko 2.

    Personally I think from best to worst it goes: Golden Era - 1985-1992 Brand Extension - 2001-2003 Attitude Era - 1998-2000 "Reality Era" - 2013-2015 "Renaissance Era" - 2023-Now New Generation Era - 1993-1997 Ruthless Aggression Era - 2004-2008 PG Era - 2009-2012 Dark Era - 2016-2022

It's honestly kind of weird how forgotten 2004-2007 is in the grand scheme of things since it largely fuckin' sucked to watch and 2003 & 2008 were great years in of themselves. And then the PG era hit and the previous bad era was promptly forgotten.

Cena probably got it the worst around One Night Stand 2006, after that I think the hate became more WWE-fed, and he had a very brief moment being cheered in the Spring of 2008, and then WWE went right back to business with the "Embrace the Hate" shit in 2009-2013.

But yeah, precisely what I was thinking. Punk and Bryan had voracious reactions when they were finally allowed to succeed, but I think Cody is the first guy in a very long time to get universal love and adoration and backing from a company. I don't think Cena was ever this over.

WrestleMania XXX should have been Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk tbh.

I mean he's easily their biggest merchandise seller, by that metric he's undeniably the #1 guy in the company, and the booking and fan reactions prove it. I haven't seen a guy this over since... well, the Attitude Era lol

I think even if you don't like Cody Rhodes or other main event stars rn, you can't deny that the marketing is so much better, and the fact they have healthy competition is driving up interest in wrestling.

No we are not lol, 2016-2020 was a much worse time period for WWE. Ratings are rising, attendance is rising in general, and viewership and internet accessibility is at an all time high. And Vince McMahon is no longer in the company. What a terrible take.
