    New to GIMP, My Artwork:

    From what I know, GIMP has almost all of the features Photoshop offers, but must be downloaded separately. I would still recommend Photoshop for beginners simply because it is the more popular program, meaning there are far more resources, help and tutorials available.

    There is very little technical advice I can offer because I've never used GIMP and I've heard for years that it is an inferior program. Nonetheless, most beginners regardless of software don't tend to produce higher quality work than this. Might I ask what your objection is to Photoshop anyway...
