Port have signed most of their young stars, they just need a new fitness coach to ensure they can get on the park. Losing Pearce isn't that big a blow for them, he will be a better player when surrounded by more talent but wasn't giving Port that much. It is one of those deals that will benefit...

Looks like Brendan Goddard will be going to Essendon, he has supposedly been offered a contract by them and Saints have three days to respond. Would be a massive get for the Bombers and would improve them quite a bit. They desperately need more midfielders to help take the pressure off Watson...

ants must be over the moon right now. Was a great game and it truly was a game of four quarters, that breeze to the one end played a massive role and changed the flow of the game each quarter. Hawks started strong only to be swamped by the swans in the second, then in the third hawthorn fought...

So the big game is tomorrow and the forecast has eased up a bit and there are only meant to be a few showers. For the game my predictions are a tough close contest with Hawthorn eventually winning by 17 points. Jack Gunston for first goal and Sam Mitchell for the Norm Smith.

Looks like there will be plenty happening in the first season with free agency. Plenty of players have already nominated that they will test the market and see if any other clubs want to pick them up. Can't wait for the GF though, less than three days away. It is meant to be 14 and thuderstorms...

So Jobe Watson won the Brownlow medal last night. He did have a great season so he did deserve it, was a clear winner in the end with 30 votes. From a North perspective very surprised Swallow only got ten votes even though he was clearly North's best player and we did win quite a few matches...

After all the great matches that we have already had so far this finals series tonights match between Hawthorn and Adelaide managed to top them all. Fantastic game to watch and the drama at the end was great. I laughed when the reversal was given to Porplyzia in Adelaide's forward 50 after a...

Collingwood managed to beat West Coast by 13 points tonight. Was another tough close final based on contested football and there were plenty of momentum changes. The key moment in my mind was in the last quarter when Embley made two turnovers by foot. First he kicked it out of bounds on the full...

    AFL 2012

Another great final. Fremantle flew out of the blocks like normal but Adelaide kept fighting and managed to get in front in the third quarter. The lead changed hands quite a few times in the next twenty minutes but Adelaide finished the game off stronger and were too good at home. Walker was...

It is very sad but Port have handled it very well. They have plenty of reporters trying to get the inside scoop but they keep telling them to leave that for another day. For now we remember John McCarthy and we will worry about the other stuff later.

Really strange, there were some reports that he said he wanted to come home. They are also now saying that he fell from the roof of the hotel and not a balcony. There is meant to be video footage from the hotel plus witnesses that were on the ground when it happened.

I thought that Ling was going to move into coaching this year, might be waiting to hear from another team. Black is playing for Brisbane next year so no surprise he knocked it back. Odd that they are doing a twilight match, must be so that the interstate team can get to the airport that night...

I didn't realise Essendon were activating a Father Son pick this year. Bulldogs should go after a key forward, after Barry Hall left there aren't many options up forward for the Dogs. You would have a decent amount of room in the salary cap as well to lure in a recruit.

    AFL 2012

Fair enough, it is a pretty big switch to make from one powerhouse to another. Josh Caddy tried to get traded to Essendon last year so I am sure they will be front runners to grab him. Going to be an interesting trade period this year with free agency.

Why are the Carlton fans mad? Malthouse is a premiership coach with two teams. Are they annoyed at the process that had him appointed? Goddard leaving I expect but I am a bit surprised that Dal Santo may leave. Saints are going to struggle the next few years as their stars get older and as...

    AFL 2012

Mick Malthouse was announced as Carlton coach today. Funny how they were all denying it weeks back but suddenly one week after Carlton's season finishes he is announced as coach. He is joining them at the right time as it should only take a few tweaks for him to get them challenging deep into...

I just watched that press conference from Port Adelaide, very hard to watch. Many questions unanswered about how it happened but that is all for another day.

Horrible news. It has been confirmed as John McCarthy that died after falling from a balcony, only 22 years old. Just terrible news, I can't remember the last time that an active AFL player passed away.

    AFL 2012

Well done Fremantle. Their first ever finals win at the MCG and they do it against last years premiers. 96-80 win in the end and that early start was too much for Geelong to overcome. They made a game of it at the end but a couple of posters at crucial times cost them momentum. Fremantle now...

    AFL 2012

Sydney beat Adelaide earlier today 71-42. The pressure from Sydney was immense and Adelaide could convert even though they had a lot more Inside 50s. Adelaide's power forwards couldn't do anything and both Walker and Tippett were outplayed by the Sydney defence. Fremantle had a brilliant start...
