Like Dave said, it's amazing how the Juice match was the best in his career, and in WWE that live event match against Triple H was his best match in the states, and that didn't come close to the Ishii match. Moxley is doing so much better and it tells wrestling fans a whole lot
Watched night 8 with a friend, first taste of New Japan, and he thought it was amazing. Big WWE fan too. Thought it was fun after a pretty good SDL to sit back and watch Naito Ishii Moxley and Takagi just totally beat the loss out of each other, rest for a couple of days to do it again.
Another shout for PPV Quality. We had a good Rumble, great Elimination Chamber, satisfying Wrestlemania, fun MITB until the ending, and Fastlane/Stomping Grounds/ER all overdelivered.
Moxley and Ishii, Holy shit!!!
Also for those watching NJPW longer than me. Where has THIS Hirooki Goto been? Never thought I'd say this guy's become one of the most must watch guys of a show, much less a G1.
As much as Rocky's trying, I wish they'd tell more of a story with how 3 Chaos...
Tbh it bugs me how they had to explain why Fale was invited back after his shite run last year but not Yano... Wish they explained why he's even here in kayfabe. I liked Yano's story and how it played out, how he gave Ibushi a fluke loss making him have to come back before sneaking a win over...
Only through Night 5 - and stunned by the results so far - but so far if I'm to pick my 5 best matches, they'd all be from the first 2 days lol
HM: Yano vs Naito because Yano rules.
5: Goto vs Jay White
4: Juice vs Shingo
3: ZSJ vs Ramada
2: Ospreay vs Archer
1: Ishii vs Cobb
Think WWE knows counterprogramming AEW is great advertising for them? It got people amped for an Evolve show lol
Reminds me of the 2015 Wednesday Night War though. Impact, ROH, Lucha Underground and NXT. It was just cool and nothing "significant"
Quick non-spoiler, Day 2 was a lot of fun, though may go down as one of the weaker days in the G1 with 3 three star matches if you go by that.
Roughly 3 matches felt like basic baby face/heel stuff, but the styles of everyone was so different that they felt very fresh. I LOVE how the matches -...
Yeah. There's been reports that NJPW is gunshy of pushing gaijin because all of them wind up leaving. These guys built themselves up in the Bullet Club, then went over to take over US wrestling when NJPW is trying to get over here. If NJPW is trying to be bigger in the states (formerly with a...
Thanks for the memories.
Weird move though. If he wanted to be a star, no place better than staying in Toronto unless you're jumping on the superteam bandwagon
9/10, but just watching the tournament matches.
Absolutely loved Ospreay vs Archer. Lance went from afterthought to force to be reckoned with quickly. This was no mere David vs Goliath showdown as - a theme for the show - Ospreay gave a beating but Archer shrugged it off and flattened him with...
8/10 for me.
I wanted to see more from the guys and gals I didn't know much about. They did an incredible job putting over Darby Allin as a sick SOB who's offense is borderline suicidal (or just insanely athletic) and he can take more abuse than he gives himself, though Cody controlling a match...
