Well, for one thing, I think you're underrating the number of Elite marks and fans who got into wrestling post-2015 who are gonna be more stoked about Cole than Bryan (though I certainly am not)
But also I feel you're just overthinking it. If Cole was coming in to be a face he probably could have had his own moment. But here you intro Cole as a heel, getting that initial shock, and then you double down on it by sending out Danielson once the fans think they've seen the surprise of the night and you send them home happy with the big face pop. Danielson looks that much bigger now, because he's standing tall at the end of a PPV that had Punk's first match back and the debut of Adam Cole. Plus, you've made a legendary moment by debating two dudes that WWE wanted to re-sign in the same PPV-closing segment. It's making a statement.
Cole gonna be a-ok and I don't think for a second he's in danger of being lost in any shuffles.
@Hoss Delgado honestly I think you’re under thinking it. What is he gonna do? He’s in a group with the World Champion and the Tag Champions.
Why couldn’t he come out hour 2 and attack someone like Jungle Boy? He wasn’t the main event. Would’ve gave him something to do instead of immediately locking him in with his friends.
We’ve done this; we’ve seen this. This killed another company before.
Idgaf about the 5 star rating shit that Meltzer does
How many real stars are there in wrestling.
If I walk down the street with a selfie of Kenny Omega; out of 10; how many people you think can identify him? How many people know Roman? How many people know Brock?
It depends on the city or town you are in, the country you are and also when you see them. If you are using people who don't watch wrestling in this example - then I have no idea. Is the metric based on people who used to watch wrestling or only used wrestling now. I also don't understand the point you are trying to make.
@Cwalker I think its 100% a fair complaint if you really like Adam Cole and see him as a bigger star than I do, I just think that's the main difference here. I was eh on him being in his own and prefer what they did lol and I think I'll enjoy Cole a lot more this way than scenarios you've thrown out even if he's not as big of a deal
I think he 100% came across as special but was then overshadowed by Bryan afterwards, he'll only be hurt by that if the follow up is bad tho. But yeah, if I hadn't been so turned off of Cole the last year or two I'd probably care more
@Cwalker Yeah I think it just boils down to extra high expectations on your part. I think Cole will be a main eventer and he'll very likely be the AEW World Champ. Face of the company? Honestly, he might be. He wouldn't be if it was up to me. But really, there is a legitimate chance that's where he ends up. He is in his early 30s, after all.
